- DavidG: $RYAN #TEXTBOOK TRADE --Breakout from tight VS (3%) on high volume on 9/24. --Phase 2 pullback to 8d EMA on 9/30 --F/b 4 successive days of marching upward along the upper BB. Scott and Dan have featured some insurance stocks, which should do well in declining interest rate environment. I did a top down analysis of insurance stocks and liked this chart better than all the others. I'm still watching $PGR which is in a 1 month base waiting for the 50d MA to catch up to it. $PGR currently in a VS measuring 4.6%. I'm tempted to just buy a few call options on it. $PGR earnings on 10/15.

Henry, I think this is the post you are asking about... 04:07 PM 04/09/2024X802tp01@bigbartabs I think he is pointing out that inflation is only in 2 areas not widespread and with the seasonality removed overall inflation will be lower. He is not saying those two specific areas will necessarily be lower.
- Henry: @bigbartabs I seem to be missing the original post, by X? X can we call you something other than X? Insurance stocks had a bad day. Sometime ago a broker told me he was very concerned about insurance stocks and mentioned $CB and it's office real estate exposure. Since that conversation it moved up about $60. Today it broke the 10 week moving average and $ALL $PGR $MET $CB all had big red candles. As I look at the chart all had much lower than average volume. As I posted earlier, I bailed on $CB. I was up 20% in 8 months and best of all it was in my IRA.

- kenb: @rck89 $PGR Conventional wisdom in this forum is to sell partial of your position. Maybe a half, quarter, or third before earnings report. Earnings are always a crap shoot. A lot depends on you, how much of a profit cushion you have and how much conviction you have in the company. I don't follow this stock, so cannot make any recommendations. Good luck.

- scottrades: @Orange-Green $XLF $MMC $PGR They are both quite different chart patterns. One of them is testing the 50 Day MA and the other is just over 7% above the 50 Day. So that tells me that PGR is the chart with the most momentum right now. It's not at a great buy point but it could work as it's making a new Weekly high. You'd probably want a stock about 3% below your entry to start. on MMC you'd want it to hold above the 50 Day MA. Hope that helps!

I saw $MMC and thought it was slightly similar to $PFSI which had a pullback and found support.. Not sure what move I want to play (the pullback or the breakout).. I find squeezing breakouts take more patience but are less risky.. Still learning lol
