Futures are up following the Juneteenth close and news that President Trump may wait a few weeks to ponder involvement in the Middle East conflict. Ideally we’ll see $SPY and $QQQ close above the 8 EMA today. The last few days have been a bit ... - Bert953: #MrMarket - finally looking at the indices because just before the open, my puter glitched and one of my monitors went blank. I rebooted and it came back but I was thinking unkind thoughts about it though its served me well for many years. Anyway, being focused on $CRCL I didnt open finviz to see the market trend until now. The indices so far look like a gap and crap. $IWM looks strongest, $QQQ weakest. We'll see how the close goes.

- bigbartabs: @champ $SPY $QQQ #News-Events #positive ... ditto positive on SPX NDX. As long as the 4 major indexes stay above their 8dema, its a good bet traders can easily stick with their positions. I always recommend using the real indexes for alerts to trigger buys and sells. If trading SPY QQQ, its much less of a problem, than if trading SPXL TQQQ. SPY QQQ correlate much better to SPX NDX... than SPXL TQQQ does. Same story for UDOW TNA not correlating well with DJI RUT, needing alerts set on the raw indexes.

It opened closer to yesterday's close and ran up more that the others, before falling closer to the open. As I'm writing this, the 1st 3 have undercut the opening print.... watching! I will adjust my stops now, though the market has been doing gap and crap, gap and run, crap and gap etc. Still dont want to get caught with my pants down so I'd rather err on the side of caution. Especially since the $SPY is testing the Resistance zone and POTUS was railing against Mr Powell this morning (again).

- traderbren: @cgendro1 - we are likely to see dip buyers, but if the $QQQ breaks 508.50 zone -- we are likely to close the gap at 491.54 The QQQ's tested the underside of the 8ema this afternoon and then firmed up (for now). With $AAPL seeing some weakness and likely to close the gap at 200.54 (we got close this afternoon for Gov work), it is likely to create weakness in the indices.

All indexes still under yesterday's closing print, but $dia is the one that recovered the most (so far). $SPY and $QQQ are wiggling about in a narrow range. As @Dan said the market is up quite a bit. Where will it go from here? maybe some backing and filling until the next news bomb from our "leaders". Lets be careful out there. Noticed headline from Briefing.com that "Republicans embrace fees on EV's and immigrants to help pay for Trump's tax cuts." the article states "we keep talking about finding savings. but we're also finding ways to create new revenue." My translation: lets squeeze the juice outta the people. We (politicians and lawmakers of every stripe) know how to spend the money better that they do.

- Bert953: #MrMarket $dia $spy $qqq gap and crap testing yesterday's closing print. The $iwm however isn't as strong, it opened below yesterday's close and has fallen further (down .54%). I'm not seeing any obvious resistance at these levels (trendlines or MA's) on the $SPY, but the economy/ sentiment/ uncertainty continues.

Both need a pullback, or a significant surge above to get me interested again. All 4 indexes keep getting more extended... time to be careful.

It does appear that there has been some "profit taking", this morning, but even that has been limited. As it is Friday, the low volume is just a caution flag. Don't take extra risk into the weekend.

- Bert953: @kenb $SPY $QQQ I keep FINVIZ open on the bottom of a monitor with 15min charts of $DOW $NSDQ $SPX and $IWM. at 10am they all printed tall red candles that went under yesterday's closing print. They've all recovered to yesterday's closing price. The $VIX reflected a move in price, but it wasn't too egregious. A few tightened up profit stops also closed. All this to say we're not outta the woods yet. Oh look, there's grandma's house... what could go wrong Mr Wolfe?

- phgruver: @bigbartabs $TQQQ $SSO At 12:15, $SPY has only traded 16M shares. Daily average, right now, is about 60M. While there's likely to be a surge of trading, going into the end of the day, I seriously doubt that it will approach average. Right now, $SPY and $QQQ are trading below the VWAP, but if they curve up, it may be a buy signal. Watching.....

- Bert953: #MrMarket another week in the history books. Interesting that the $DIA and $IWM are both flat after spending the day in the red. $QQQ and $SPY are both up nicely for the day after initial wiggles and jiggles in the morning. The last 15 min of all four were up strong into the close. I look forward to seeing what equities @Dan suggests as many are coming up off the bottom. They're breaking above 8 and 50dMA's out of whats likely tariff-concern induced weakness. Now that market movers perhaps have a sense of "normalcy" we could see market strength going forward. (Or not!) Anyway, looking forward to sparking up the grill and having some family over during the weekend. Perhaps its time to pullout the bicycle and do a few miles to shake off that winter feeling.
