- woodman: @Vcondry $NNE - I distinguish between the small modular reactor stocks and the big independent power producers ($GEV $VST $CEG $NRG). NNE is one of the small. So, $OKLO, yes is rebounding, but $SMR, not so much, at least not yet.
- ReneeH: $nrg ooofff, energy names in sympathy, maybe 59m oppty?
- Preacher: @ReneeH $nrg $CEG. Smaller but same type of sell off as $NRG. Now coming back. Thought about taking it off the bottom but I did not.
- woodman: $NRG - yet another one I have with earnings after the close. I hate earnings season.
- ReneeH: @woodman $NRG curious, just style strategy, do you trim profits for cushion into earnings? They've been hit/miss this season.
- Motorman: @woodman $NRG Very stressful. So far lucky with $AXON, $PLTR. Not so with $COIN and $SPOT...$SMCI also tonight. Perplexity says 17% move implied.
- ReneeH: @Motorman $NRG $AXON $PLTR $COIN $SPOT $SMCI fwiw I see 4.8% implied with estimize, confirmed with options chain pricing. Just my read.
- woodman: @ReneeH $NRG - If I have good profit, I usually do trim. But my overall approach to earnings is hard to explain and isn't coookie cutter. I may consider a number of things with respect holding any stock through earnings, whether I have good profit or not, but ultimately it's probably a guess based on my gut feeling and experiences over time after considering various factors. I know this doesn't help you. A decent (maybe) approach is often just to sell half and hold half, but some sectors are just so risky and the moves may be so big that it comes down to personal tolerance for risk. I wish I could state it better.
- Motorman: @ReneeH $NRG $AXON $PLTR $COIN $SPOT $SMCI Perplexity gave me 4% first, which seemed rather low. So I looked at sources it used and one of them was from January. From options looks like a $7 move, so maybe 11%
- ReneeH: @woodman $NRG totally valid. We all have our groove. It's interesting to learn from other traders/investors. fwiw, I'm more intermediate term in my holdings and more of a cowgirl trader.
- phgruver: @ReneeH $NRG @woodman gave you a good answer, but to add, just a tad.... @Dan has often admonished us, if the size of your position is making you nervous, then it's too much. Reduce the size until you are comfortable with it. (I have some very long term holdings that I don't even look at.)
- woodman: @phgruver $NRG - That's true, too, re size of position causing nervousness.
- woodman: $NRG - seems like some are confident for this one's earnings report bmo tomorrow. V recovery on the 15 minute chart in motion since bottoming around 11:40 this morning. Long and I'll hold some through, but haven't settled on how much yet.
- woodman: $NRG bmo tomorrow. Holding 2/3 through. It may be a good indication of what is to come for $CEG and $VST (both 8/7 bmo). I'm hoping $GEV back on 7/23 is a good indicator for all of them.
- woodman: The big power producers are moving higher. They've been wonderful. Of the 4 that I've been very involved with since April/May, 3 are reporting this week: $NRG $CEG $VST. The fourth - $GEV - already reported, and it was a good one. Perhpas the others will follow suit. It's been a hot industry area that appears to be staying hot.
- ReneeH: eyeing energy names $PWR, $NRG, $MPWR from @dan StockWatch!
- ReneeH: @woodman $OKLO + $NRG adjacent space
- woodman: @ReneeH $OKLO $NRG - Yes. OKLO (along with $SMR $NNE) is the small reactor side; NRG (along with $CEG $VST $GEV) is large power producer side.
- jeffslm: @woodman $OKLO $NRG $SMR $NNE $CEG $VST $GEV - some interesting charts in here. thank you!
- woodman: $CEG - recall how $GEV - another of the big Independent Power Producers I've been and still am in - reacted to its earning report last week (and continued up thereafter). Perhaps we'll see similar action with CEG (no guarantees of course). The two others I've liked in the space: $VST (reports 8/7 bmo; long) $NRG (reports 8/6 bmo; np currently, but I may buy for earnings)
- woodman: Independent Power Producers: $GEV still moving higher post-earnings. $CEG in a squeeze, earnings estimated for 8/5 amc (I don't know why it isn't a confirmed date yet). $VST similar, earings 8/7 bmo. $NRG similar, earnings 8/6 amc.
- woodman: $GEV is poised to open at an ath. Whether it sticks for the day remains to be seen. I held all my shares through earnings. This has been a hugely winning chart since the April low as the need for power generation has been the story all this time. I direct you also to the other large Independent Power Producers I've mentioned for some time now: $CEG $NRG $VST. They have been consolidating after similarly huge moves off the bottom. Each reports in early August.
- debeers: @woodman $GEV $CEG $NRG $VST - Brava on the $GEV. Brilliant as always Woodie!
- cgendro1: @woodman $VRT - all moving to downside $CEG $GEV $PWR. $NRG close to 50d and trying to go. Watching
- woodman: @Mikev200 $GEV - $GEV and $VST have been sweet! $CEG not too shabby either. Keep watch of $NRG in this group as well. It's consolidating into the rising 50d. These are my Four Horsemen of the large power producers.
- Mikev200: @woodman $GEV $VST $CEG $NRG I have your list! I can only afford one horse :)
- ReneeH: @woodman $GEV $VST $CEG $NRG love em, totally aligned! $NRG my fav
- ReneeH: energy industrials benefitting from BBB; $NRG, $CEG, $ENVX, potential rotation
- woodman: @ReneeH $NRG $CEG $ENVX - Add $VST and $GEV
- ReneeH: @woodman $NRG $CEG $ENVX $VST $GEV for sure! top favs here
- ReneeH: @woodman $LEU such a strong leader, looks extended but I like it a ton, thank you! Have $GEV + $NRG calls
- woodman: @traderbren $CEG - $NRG getting interesting, too.
- woodman: $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG - The Independent Power Producers are holding up just fine. Quite unoffensive. They just chug along. These have been holds for me that I haven't had to fret about. One that I think is worth watching next week and beyond in particular is $NRG. Despite it being extended still, it's in a high consolidation/squeeze with the 50d approaching from below. It may still have some more work to do, but worthy of the watchlist, IMO. I have a very small holdover position after selling most of it back in May. That was nearly a 50% gainer from my April purchase after it broke through first level resistance on 4/24. I sold almost of my holding on 5/21 (holding just a bit so I wouldn't lose sight of it). Nothing to do with this rhrn, but I am keeping closer tabs on it.
- ReneeH: @woodman $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG I'm riding this rotation. Thanks for validating. They look good, I'll take cyclicals for a few weeks. Rinse repeat.
- joelsg1: @woodman $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG Super early, but I'm reading that hydrogen fuel cells are potential backup and later primary clean power sources for data centers, replacing nat gas and even diesel backup generators now used. Top 2 companies are $PLUG and $BLDP, I like the latter's chart for a $1.76 spec.
- cgendro1: $NRG- pushing out of consolidation.
- woodman: The big power producers are still getting it done. $NRG and $GEV breaking out on good volume to make all time highs. $VST continues to move up (nearing its all time high as it completes a "V"/cup (messy left side, but pretty much straight line right side)). $CEG leaking to the upside as it moves closer toward testing its all time high.
- woodman: @StockMarketMentor $GEV - The Independent Power Producers, with fingers in the big Nuke pie, have been gold. Long $GEV $CEG $VST $NRG from below. Btw, $NRG has a steep rising 50d heading toward price and is in a high squeeze at all time high levels. And $CEG also is in a squeeze but more of a cup and handle.
- woodman: @cgendro1 $CEG $GEV & $VST $NRG - I have been holding a position of varying size in each of these. They have been steady eddies.
- woodman: $CEG $GEV $NRG $VST - I'm still in these Independent Power Producers/lager nukes. The first 3 are consolidating/squeezing though still kind of far away from major moving averages (i.e. 50d). I'm just continuing to hold them as long as they don't do anything offensive.
- Bert953: @scottrades $HIMS $HIMS another good looking squeeze. I added a few more names to my squeeze watchlist this morn. $ETN $CEG $GEV $NRG. The others I posted a few days ago.
- cgendro1: $GEV $NRG $PWR $CEG $VST- all getting hit this am
- woodman: @marklesparkle $CRWV $NRG - I don't know if there was news, but all the Independent Power Producers are down today. I've been holding only a small/placeholder-ish position in NRG since selling most on 5/21.
- marklesparkle: @woodman $CRWV $NRG okay good job on that
- marklesparkle: @woodman $CRWV $NRG do you happen to know WTH happened to $NRG so fugly because of my option position but that happens. Although its still in my VP channel
- marklesparkle: $NRG Look at the BB on this one.
- woodman: @marklesparkle $NRG - I follow it closely. I was in from ~$102-$111 area with a large position, most of which I held through earnings. I sold at $155 after that big move off earnings figuring it would have to take a breather at the very leaast. It has held up, just catching its breath since then. Narrow BBs and the 21dEMA is catching up now. Still very extended, obviously, but let's keep an eye on it. The industry (Independent Power Producers) is hot (excuse the pun). Also in $CEG $GEV $VST in the same industry.
- marklesparkle: @woodman $NRG $CEG $GEV $VST Yes I've been in and out of a few . I was a medium voltage cable splicer for 35 years so I like the Power and the $UTES
- woodman: @marklesparkle $NRG $CEG $GEV $VST $UTES - Nice.
- woodman: $CEG $VST $GEV $NRG - These IPPs (Independent Power Producers) continue to work well. The first three continue upward along their rising the 8dEMAs. The last (NRG) is still working off that big move, going sideways along the 8dEMA as it does the work.
- woodman: @Mikev200 $GEV - Yes! Good call. With the need for power generally and the Administration's stated support for nuclear specifically, the larger Independent Power Producers are doing well. I'm holding a mini-basket - this one along with $CEG $VST and a little $NRG (I sold down a large NRG position around $155 following that big pop earlier this month (around a 50% gain on most of my shares), but still holding a little and watching to buy back potentially).
- woodman: Nuclear reactor/power stocks; Uranium stocks. I continue to hold a basket of nuclear reactor/power stocks that I've been in to one degree or another for quite some time, many from much lower. They currently include $OKLO (currently the largest positi ...
- woodman: @kenb $OKLO $SMR $NNE $GEV - Sweet! Others include: Others: $LTBR $VST $CEG $NRG $LEU $FLNC.
- woodman: $OKLO $SMR $NNE $GEV $LTBR $VST $CEG $NRG $LEU $FLNC Also the Uranium stocks. See $UUUU for example. Up 18% in the after.
- woodman: @Henry $OKLO $SMR $NNE - I took profits in $OKLO, too. I have only place holders in OKLO and SMR following their big moves. I have more than a placeholder in NNE (which hasn't yet really moved), but not a large position. I have bigger positions in th ...
- woodman: @Mpower27 $NRG $CEG $VST $D - I do not.
- woodman: AI needs power. Lots of it. Independent Power Producers are there to deliver it. $NRG $CEG $VST are going to help provide it. NRG has doubled since its low of 4/7. It popped about 25% on its report on d 5/12. Since then it has rested in a flag. It's now edging up again. And $VST and $CEG (both of which have reported) don't look like they are done advancing.
- Motorman: @woodman $NRG $CEG $VST Very hard to find an entry looking at the charts. I small position in. $VST.
- Mpower27: @woodman $NRG $CEG $VST do you have an idea on why $D has been dead in the water compared to the other power generators?
- woodman: $NRG - obviously extended, but making a flag. I continue to hold this from decently lower with a stop.
- woodman: @kenb $OKLO $NNE $SMR - Big ones, too. $NRG, though a much more muted move today, is still going after yesterday's 26% move.
- joelsg1: @woodman $OKLO $NNE $SMR $NRG I'm in $NLR which has been riding a steep 8d for a month.
- woodman: @joelsg1 $OKLO $NNE $SMR $NRG $NLR - I'm in $NRG and $CEG with fairly large positions. Looking at adding to my small positions in the small reactor stocks.
- woodman: @joelsg1 @kenb $OKLO $NNE $SMR $NRG $NLR - Many in the sector to look at. For instance, $VST is making a nice comeback, and $FLNC is interesting.
- woodman: $NRG - I held through earnings. I was considering selling as it reached triple top area last week going into earnings. Perhaps the gamble wasn't wise, but it paid off.
- woodman: $NRG $CEG - I'm also in $CEG in the same industry It reported last week, so that's out of the way. It continues to move higher.
- woodman: $FLNC - big move up through the 50d. Seems to have bottomed. Still has a good 30% before reaching the February gap, and much more if it can extend its move into the gap. I can't say that it's a buy today when already up 27% on the day, but perhaps one to keep watch of. Some of these Independent Power Producers are really moving well. I'm still holding $NRG from when it moved above the 50d in April, and more recently long $CEG in that industry. See also $NRGV $VST (no position in those).
- woodman: $NRG $CEG - I'm still in NRG. It has completed a big "W," but isn't stopping yet as it's now moving through multi-top. resistance to make an all time high. CEG (np currently), in the same industry, is similar. It put in a bottom in April and has been moving back up very nicely. Not a "W" bottom like NRG, but an inverse head and shoulders bottom that - though it has already moved back up quite a bit - still has good room to move higher back up to its 2025 Jan/Feb highs. CEG is red today but it's a good one to keep an eye on.
- woodman: $NRG - I'm still holding this from a couple weeks ago. It's up around my "target" area (triple top - "W" completion), so I'm watching it closely here. For now, it's holding up still....
- woodman: $CEG $NRG - I'm in NRG which I bought back last month, and have been watching CEG (without a position), which I figured would eventually follow NRG. CEG gapped up through the 200d today. I remain interested, but want to see how it closes, which I'll miss because I won't be around to see it this afternoon. (Note also that it reports 5/6 bmo). As for NRG, I've just been holding it with a couple adds along the way. It's now nearing its ath of $117.26 (which also would complete the "W" pattern), which may be my point of departure. We'll see.
- woodman: @joelsg1 $NVDA $CEG $SMR - I've been holding some $NRG, and watching others - $CEG $SMR $OKLO $NNE.
- joelsg1: @woodman $NVDA $CEG $SMR $NRG $OKLO $NNE Sam Altman stepped back from $OKLO, whatever that means.
- woodman: Nuclear meltdown - $OKLO $NNE $SMR $NRG $CEG.
- woodman: $NRG back above the 50d
- woodman: $NRG - big move. It doesn't usually move like this, which is to say like the smaller spec nukes. Different animal.
- Bert953: @woodman $NRG nice move if ya were in it. Hitting Resistance now and as Dan said earlier breakouts have been suspect.
- woodman: @Bert953 $NRG - Yes, probably a sell here.
- woodman: $NRG good action today (still holding this one). $CEG (no position) similar, but a little behind NRG's move here.
- woodman: $NRG $CEG $GEV - very similar chart over the last couple months for these Independent Power Producers.
- woodman: $CEG $NRG - slower moving nuke stocks compared to the screamers ($NNE $OKLO), but still working. I've been in NRG. No position in CEG.
- joelsg1: @woodman $CEG $NRG $NNE $OKLO New Energy Secy. Chris Wright was on Board of $OKLO.
- woodman: @joelsg1 $CEG $NRG $NNE $OKLO - Follow the crony.
- shoredriver: @woodman $CEG $NRG $NNE $OKLO ....sheesh......
- joelsg1: @woodman $CEG $NRG $NNE $OKLO Oh what a tangled web we weave....
- woodman: $NRG edging above the 8dEMA.
- woodman: $NRG - I took a hit on this the other day, but added this morning.
- woodman: Decent stabilization and comeback for #Nukes in the second half of the day. Daily hammers/dojis. $NRG & $CEG (support and bounce off of 50dSMA); $NNE & $OKLO (bounces ~13/21dEMAs back above 8dEMA); $SMR (bounce off 100dSMA). Could be in play tomorrow.
- woodman: $CEG $NRG also nuke related.
- woodman: $CEG $NRG - along with NNE and SMR - nukes of all kinds.
- woodman: $NRG nice move through the 50d. I was looking at this yesterday but didn't do anything. Np currently.
- woodman: Independent Power Producers - I missed $NRG (looked yesterday; nice move today), but $PAM and $GEV look interesting. And perhaps $NEP from the depths as it tries to move out of a squeeze up through the 50d.
- woodman: Given the discussion about nuclear stocks, here's my #Uranium stock watchlist: $LEU $URNJ $DNN $UEC $UROY $UUUU $URA $NXE $URNM $CCJ $URG. It's somewhat old and likely needs some updating. And there are additional related tickers within a broad #DiversifiedIndustrials industry (e.g. $NNE $SMR in the nuclear-rlated businesses) and more in the #Utilities sector ($XLU broadly, and see, e.g., $NRG $CEG...), and even more in the broad IndustrialMetals&Mininerals industry. Nonetheless, looking at those #Uranium stocks on my watch list, the majority of these have a similar looking charts at the moment - whether below or above the 200d - with the latest activity similarly patterned for most of these in the form of some short term consolidation. I'd be guessing to say what their moves will be from here.
- bigbartabs: @woodman $LEU $URNJ $DNN $UEC $UROY $UUUU $URA $NXE $URNM $CCJ $URG $NNE $SMR $XLU $NRG $CEG #Uranium #DiversifiedIndustrials #Utilities #Uranium ... what are your favorites? I owned $CCJ until a few days back, when RSI hit and went flat on the over bought line. Been hoping for a pullback to re-enter.
- woodman: @bigbartabs $LEU $URNJ $DNN $UEC $UROY $UUUU $URA $NXE $URNM $CCJ $URG $NNE $SMR $XLU $NRG $CEG #Uranium #DiversifiedIndustrials #Utilities #Uranium - Good question. I don't have an answer right now. I need to look through the charts more thoroughly. I'm only in $NNE right now. Truth be told, I'm leaning more toward preserving $$ given the turn in domestic (hurricanes, strikes) and foreign (Middle East) situations ... at least short term. But, then, the election is coming soon. I have to figure out how I want to be positioned. I'm not concerned about my specific biotechs - I comfortable with my plans for those - but other stuff, I'm not as certain.
- bigbartabs: @woodman $LEU $URNJ $DNN $UEC $UROY $UUUU $URA $NXE $URNM $CCJ $URG $NNE $SMR $XLU $NRG $CEG #Uranium #DiversifiedIndustrials #Utilities #Uranium ... I think that's a good way to look at it. Probably not the best time to be getting carried away with any tickers... until we know where all this war talk and port strike goes.
- woodman: @bigbartabs $LEU $URNJ $DNN $UEC $UROY $UUUU $URA $NXE $URNM $CCJ $URG $NNE $SMR $XLU $NRG $CEG #Uranium #DiversifiedIndustrials #Utilities #Uranium - Almost on cue, the market is coming back some. LOL. But, yeah, I'm just kind of watching. I haven't sold (except for selling $AMSC today which I am watching to buy back possibly, additional profit taking in $RKLB, and stopped on $SMR yesterday), but overall I'm not in the mood to buy rhrn.
- DrScience: @rrdutta $NEE probably better to wait for a pullback to the daily 8 EMA (68.56 currently). Texas-based counterpart $NRG reports tomorrow morning. Watch for reaction and decide.
- rrdutta: @DrScience $NEE $NRG : Thanks
- tjv821: Does anyone have a deal on $nrg feels like I might be petering out
- Justhanging48: $NRG acquiring $VVNT for $12/share. Have a little but always nice to get a buyout.
