  • Mitchell: 10/25/2019 Trading Notes $BAC - closed on the weekly chart within 1% of major resistance that goes back to early 2018. A weekly close above $32 sets up for the next leg higher. $C - weekly close above the $73 level (major resistance going back to last September) $CINF - bearish engulfing candlestick after reporting earnings on Friday morning, but it hold on the retest of the 100-day SMA and the $110 level $NTR - snapped a 9-day losing streak today after finding support at the $48 level. • DrScience: $CINF Did you get your Kennedy half last week? You'll get another on 12/19. Also, the stock is above the 50 DMA and moving higher. Stock really needs to move above $77 to have a chance at eclipsing the $82 level from August.
  • DrScience: $CINF has put in a higher low on the daily chart, just below the 200 DMA. On the weekly chart, the stock is near the lower end of the channel it has been trading in between $68 and $80 for over the past year.

So, why invest in $CINF? It's an insur ...

  • fstern601: Squeezes - karkn - $DRI is interesting, but if you want to be invested in restaurants, I would prefer our old favorite, CMG--I like the chart and the fundamentals better. $CINF - is more of a property and casualty insurer, not a financial like the bank. IBD ranking of that sector is something like 148/197. $INTC and $SBUX both look good to me. $SBUX earnings is today after market. Thanks for your research. Very helpful

  • dunsek: Possible outperformers: before yesterday's open in response to bxshin's question about what looked good #RHRN, I posted $PKI, $EMC, $DHR, $CMCSA, $CINF, $SE, $EMR, $PBCT and GPC. Based on yesterday, I'm ditching $CMCSA, $CINF and $EMR from that list, adding $DNB and $MRO and putting $SE on notice. And yes, one day is hardly enough to base a decision on, but if the idea is to beat the S+P in December, you can't allow much leeway! So now it's $PKI, $EMC, $DHR, $PBCT, $GPC, $DNB, $MRO and $SE, though more cautious about $SE and maybe $MRO than the others.
  • dunsek: #RHRN- My short list of possible outperformers is $PKI, $EMC, $DHR, $CMCSA, $CINF, $SE, $EMR, $PBCT and GPC. Of those, I kind of like the contrarian play, so going long the #financials via PBCT. Yes, it is penalty box, so not sure if that meets your creme de la creme definition, but there you go. I also like $CINF and $GPC #RHRN, the others may need just a bit of watching. All the usual caveats apply- do your own top down and sector analysis, etc etc etc! Oh yeah- and though it didn't meet the mutli criteria for the above sort, I still like $HRB which I started a small position in yesterday and still think the coal trade (PCX, ICO) has legs for a while yet.

So I took that list and checked it against the top 10 major industry groups out ...
  • dunsek: Property and Casualty Insurers- $L, $TRV, $PNX, $MRH, $ESGR, $ERIE, and many more have been making a move the last week or so, but seemingly under the radar. Not sure what's prompting the sector move, but it might be worth looking at some which are still in volatility squeezes: AVF, $UVE, AFF, $MCY, $HTH, $AMSF, $CINF, @TRH, MKV. And top down, the Morningstar group MG433 looks pretty strong.
  • captbryan: Thanks again @Dan! Out again today with a sick elderly mom and could not get to a computer. Tight stops hit for small profits. I am all in cash now except for a small position in $CINF and AUY. Now I just have to make myself wait for signs of strength to get out of the foxhole because I had a bunch of low alerts hit today which I probabaly would have bought if I would have had computer access. I still have scars from being the first one out to catch the falling knives.
  • captbryan: $CINF update.. Just starting on an expansion and is continuing to move slowly up the last couple of days. The indicators look good to me but I am real new at technicals. I plan to add some to my position on strength tomorrow. $EMC is also looking good.I bought calls on $EMC yesterday near closing.
  • cmac: re $CINF Capt, thanks for the idea....I've set an alert to revisit at 25.20. Nice consolidation right at #200ema
  • cmac: re $CINF A couple nice volume bars on CINF. Started a position on 25.20 breakout.
