$ENPH -- nearly stopped on Thursday. This is very heavy and, if we are not stopped, will take a while to rebuild. I don’t expect much from this prior to 7/27 earni ... - DAN: We're seeing some broad based selling today, and that makes a higher percentage of cash pretty attractive. Here are a few thoughts/suggestions: $AAPL -- I'll keep this trade open, but it looks like a climax high today and should be pulling back. So if you are active...or nervous...then take some profits on this position. $NVDA -- I'm closing this down. I don't like the way it's selling off. $CTRN -- This is at break even now. It's still range bound and looking like it's going to stay that way in this market heaviness. If you're not happy with its price action, then use this as an opportunity to close or reduce the position.

This is a bit different than my typical trade because it's still below the 50-day moving average and and is just flatlining. But the stock is in a squeeze, and the fundamentals are pretty solid on this stock. Buying here with a stop just below the June low gives you about 11% of risk, which is a bit much. But I look at this as a "pilot buy" -- Jesse Livermore's term for a small initial buy to test the waters. If the stock runs above the 50-day moving average, we'll buy more. --Dan

- lauralynnee: Newbie-ish question here... In Fidelity I see my cash available to trade is good but my settled is super low. As long as I'm picking up something new and hold it until the rest of my prior trades settle, I'm good to use the cash available to trade without incurring a good-faith violation, correct? Want to pick up some of the $CTRN @Dan added to the active list

I would STILL use a stop loss ( very loose) In the event of a market sell off ( very bad event lets say) you will get stopped out even IF it gets you a restriction. Yes as posted on margin accounts. I will look things over this week-end to see if there are other opportunities, like $CTRN (Schwab "A" rating, 38% gain 6 months, 21% 12 mos.; Earnings coming up soon, I think) that @moneyHoHo posted, but may look at sectors that are becoming better, such as Energy, Industrials and Information Technology (a favorite of mine :-D) which are in CS's Outperform category now. My 1st chandelier stop just triggered, 1/2 of existing position at essentially even price of 9.91. Watching for a new low today, not rushing back in yet. 1/4 position long left.
