  • emac2north: $PKX -- The 50 and 200 have converged around 107.50 and the stock is sitting at 105, up from resistance at 95 at Thanksgiving (& from July low). Will be watching to see if it can breakout.

  • Henry: steel stocks $PKX Early this am #CNBC Asia reported that China was cutting back on steel production as an energy saving move and that Japanese steel stocks were up on potential exports to China. $PKX is Korean steel, same dynamic.
  • bullmoose: A Chinese Coal Stock (and other China plays) # A good China analyst I follow is recommending PUDA as a China coal play, along with $VALE for iron ore and $PKX for steel. He says the rising yuan is great for commodity players in China. PUDA's in a pretty tight #squeeze, VALE's testing the 20-day and rising from recent lows, and $PKX gapped up the other day breaking out of a W low, then bounced off the 50-day today. They all look good.

  • C.K.: $PKX,MT CME...Very good call by $GS upgrading $PKX to its Conviction Buy list yesterday. $MT was oversold on 10/2 at $34.52 where I bought. I expect $MT to rise to $42 resistance shortly. Thrilled with my $CME purchase at $288 on 10/7. Today US Rep Frank says House draft OTC derivatives bill provides for non-cash collateral to meet margin requirements; draft does not empower SEC, CFTC to ban abusive swaps. ck ck

Services: $CME, $ICE #Transports/Water: $SBLK #Transports/Rails: $BNI, $NSC, $KSU Still researching each of these for entry points. @Dan's video tonight has several excellent suggestions with some good entry criteria. I'll post my entry criteria as I lock-in on a few trades - but still do not intend on deploying too much of my cash. Still feeling like 2-3 positions at a time is best to manage for us part-timers.
  • evanesce: @Paul, that sounds right. Do you monitor the Australian news too? This is a heated time of year, when the annual negotiations for ore delivery to China and Korea are held, and I don't check these as much as I should. Another pair of eyes is most welcome here. One stock I watch, as a proxy on the buy side of ore, is the big Korean steeler Posco (trades here as PKX). This is now a classic "prior resistance becomes currrent support" chart, with it yet again bouncing off the $150 zone. $PKX, against $BHP RIO RTP, might make a good set of trades: $BHP PKX in the Asia timezone, RTP in London, $RIO just ahead of us. Hmmm....
  • iancleghorn: $PKX Posco $PKX is one of Korea's largest steel companies and available here as an ADR. It's a chart on the move. It supplies steel to Hyundai, the worlds biggest ship builder (which also has a sideline in cars) and Samsung, another very big shipbuilder (which has a sideline in electronics.) Posco also exports a lot of steel to China. $EWY, the South Korea $ETF is also moving. Samsung companies make up 18% of the underlying stocks, Posco 9% and Hyundai companies 6%. It's reasonable to assume that Samsung and Hyundai are building dry ships like there's no tomorrow so $PKX and $EWY are two ways to invest in the eventual demise of our favorite Greek shipping stocks. @Ian
