- DavidK: $AUPH - no news from me or pal . For the Carter Worh Chart Masters here does this look like a cup and handle stating around 6 month chart ? Woodman ?
- woodman: @DavidK $AUPH - It doesn't strike me as a cup and handle. I'm having a hard time making out the cup. Seems more like continued sideways consolidation (though sloppy with a couple breaks to the dowside interspersed). Weekly chart shows it better by smoothing it out.
- woodman: $AUPH @DavidK - on the rise, decently above the 50d still, and keeping its head above the 8dEMA as the BBs expand. $8.85 three weeks ago is the recent high.

It still hasn't announced an earnings date, and my understanding is that they didn't provide guidance in January and they've been silent since November. I can see a scenario where this is good (silence before some big positive announcement) or bad (silence because numbers and guidance would be bad).
- DavidK: @woodman $AUPH will check . He is going to check in with contact this week or early next week. He said he thinks the data coming in early spring is key . He did say he sold his April 10 calls and hasn’t bought back in again until he can speak with his contact .

- DavidK: $AUPH - woodman , my April 10 calls just went from .50 to .65 with just a .15 move in common . Delta is .38 so doesn’t compute . Looks like stock is trying to move up out of the recent downtrend . Nothing new from my pal but he last said his contact that works there feels good things coming . Who knows . I have only 1000 of the common but sold the feb9 calls against it few weeks ago and also the 25 April 10 calls

- DavidK: $AUPH- Woodman , my April 10 calls jumped from .30 bid .35 ask to .45 bid .55 ask with just a . 15 up move in the common share price . So , I bought another 1000 shares of common at 8.15 . I smell a move up .
- DavidK: @woodman $AUPH had a typo but I corrected it. Options jumped way out of the delta on such a small move up in common . I always check option pricing etc before buying any common .

- DavidK: $AUPH- woodman - update this am . Pal said his contact ate with CEO last week . New compound data that looks very promising coming out in spring . Did not know exactly when . Cash flow positive now after canning some workforce . He mentioned Tang buying and thinks with this new compound if good that then company could be a target . So , I have 1000 shares and some April 10 calls . I will be monitoring the situation as to not let the calls decay to nothing . Who knows what’s up based on latest .

- DavidK: @woodman $AUPH yea I didn’t ask nor did he say . I think the original euphoria ( if that’s what you can call it ) by my contact was the big canning of the sales staff and subsequent investment by Tang .
- woodman: @DavidK $AUPH - That was a huge purchase by Tang. 1.2 million shares @ $9.02 valued at $10.8 million. Certainly showing huge faith in the company regardless of what may or may not be coming next. He now owns 9.6 million shares!
- woodman: $AUPH @DavidK - Any more news from your friend? Though still below the 8dEMA, which has been the case for the last 1.5 months, it has flattened out and appears to be finding support right a the old resistance level just before the gap up on 11/6/24. It has filled that gap to the downside on this big pullback from the 12/10/24 high. I have no position currently but thinking about buying some.

- DavidK: @woodman $ARDX saw the news headline . On another note , $AUPH getting sold . Texted my retired pharma friend who has a buddy that works for $AUPH and he stated he knows of no bad info . As I previously stated a few weeks ago , there was big insider buy at 8.89 or so and half the sales force was laid off / fired whatever . Buddy thinks it’s a buyout coming . But as you stated , insider buying on that news would be illegal . I don’t know the laws on that as many insiders buy / sell when they know the internal situation of the company . Anyway I am holding
- woodman: @DavidK $ARDX $AUPH - Thanks for that update. Insider buys can be legal even if prior to major news events if they follow the SEC rules on pre-planned buys. But I'm not sure if those buys look like pre-planned ones. I also don't know how far in advance a transaction may fall in some kind of safe harbor, if that's even a thing. My knowledge of the SEC rules for this stuff is poor. If anyone understands this, please comment. Thanks. Did your buddy speculate on the timing of any such buyout?

- woodman: @joelsg1 $TSLA $EOSE $RCKT - Sorry, I don't know anything about it. I'll have to take a look. Biotech has been so lousy for quite some time. And then there's the head-scratcher of immensely unqualified RFK, Jr. to lead healthcare in the U.S., if confirmed. I don't think the pharma/biotech industry has much of a grasp of what that will mean. My biotech positions are $ARDX (bought back mostly between around $4.70 to to $4.90 and a little more at $5.20 - of note, insider (Director) David Mott recently bought $1 million worth of stock at $4.67) and $HUMA (bought back between ~$4.90 and ~$5.05). My ARDX (small-medium position) is larger than my HUMA (small). I also have a little (even smaller position in) $TGTX and $AUPH, and a mere placeholder in a few others just so I don't forget about them. All in all, a relatvely low concentration in biotech.

- woodman: @Motorman $AUPH - this is a speculative buyout play. Use of the word "speculative" is redundant here, because any trade based on the hope of a buyout is speculative. I have no new news. But I have raised questions about Kevin Tang's large insider buys. If a buyout is being negotiated or on the near term horizon, I don't see how insiders could be buying based on non-public info. And it doesn't look to me like the kind of purchase that would be permitted under a pre-planned buy permitted under SEC rules (rule 10b5-1). But I don't have any information to solve this riddle. Only way to buy while knowing of non-public info like a buyout would be via long-ago pre-scheduled buys permissible under SEC rules, which would not - in itself - serve as a signal that a buy-out coming. Did your friend have an idea of timing of the buyout?

- DavidK: @woodman $AUPH my buddy just said he had lunch with this contact who works for $AUPH. Company just laid off half the workforce recently he claims . He wasn’t . He thinks the reason is acquirer wouldn’t want to do the firing . He has no direct knowledge for sure but putting the pieces together and this guy being an old seasoned veteran of the industry . Also , my buddy said the only approved drug for some lupus related illness is property of $AUPH and he stated the big boys are wanting to get into this area . Also this recent 11mm insider purchase . Only the shadow knows . He bought April 10 calls

- woodman: $AUPH - I lost track of this biotech which has broken out. As a result, my position is still small. It has an approved drug (Lupkynis) for Lupus Nephritis (for people with kidney disease caused by Lupus which is an auto-immune disease) which is now in post-marketing studies. It had been approved with a black box relating to things that can happen when on immunosuppressants . Back in February, it seemed - and I guess still seems - like a good story for the rollout of its approved drug. I saw target price of $15 back then, for whatever that's worth. I haven't done enough research on this of late but could be a good one to ride higher. Just an idea.

Aurinia may be a hedge fund plaything, as swarms of twits bet on buyout potential. Their product Lupkynis is approved for lupus nephritis and is the real deal. Competition is GSK's Benlysta, FDA approved one month before. Further competition is possible but a year or two from approval, if ever. People seem to bid this up into Friday afternoon, looking for weekend acquisition news. I have been selling Friday afternoon, then rebuying M, T, W.
