With that said, always, always, always do your own research. Do not blindly buy (or sell) a stock just because someone here, including Dan, thinks it is a buying opportunity. You are the one responsible for your own trading. If we can help, just reach out. Many here have been trading for years and you will soon learn who the brightest stars are in our universe.
- djmurph: @alfred1939 $CASA Hi alfred. I strongly echo what @gwenzee says. I'm new here too and am still figuring things out (and have made and lost a little money). The one thing I have learned, though, is that any recommendations @Dan or anyone else makes are just that, suggestions. A lot of times those suggestions can be profitable, but no one can predict the future, and investing is always going to be a risk. The question is how much risk you're personally willing to take. The things I've learned in my short time here have already made me a more disciplined trader (I've stayed out of a lot of things that I previously would have chased and lost money on). I'm sorry you've had losses, but try not to get discouraged or let your losses be reflective of what this site can offer. Good luck.
- spmeyers: @sagsworth $CASA IBD stocks are mostly momentum stocks--when the momentum ends, they go down, sometimes a lot; they are constantly adding and subtracting stocks to their lists; IBD method limits loss to 7-8% thru use of stop orders
- spmeyers: @alfred1939 $CASA if you want to trade successfully (not easy at all), the most important stuff from Dan is not the stock picks (many of which have done great in past few months) but the lessons; like his advice right now to watch from the sidelines for better opportunities

DAN: @alfred1939 $CASA Ditch CASA...I'd suggest putting a GTC stop at $15.80...just slightly below today's intraday low. There is no particular reason to hold this. And not wanting to book a loss is certainly not a reason, alfred1939.

- phgruver: @coldevinc $CASA There's a lot of overhead supply, and major resistance around $27. The recent secondary of 7.35M shares raised the float to 81.8M shares. However, as a recent IPO, none of this may matter. I'd say, if it gets back above $30, then investors aren't concerned about the secondary, and, of course, at $34.21, everyone's a winner.

- DAN: @Max115 $CASA I missed the opening move above $31.50 this morning, which is where I would have wanted to add to my position. But the stock's up more than 5% now, and I'm not convinced that it will move HIGHER than it is right now before the close. I put in an order to buy some stock a while ago but didn't get filled. So now I have a stop limit order to buy more at $32.75. If CASA moves above $32.75, then it's probably going higher from there. If it doesn't...then I'll be glad I didn't just buy some. It's easier to be adding to a winning position than to be re-initiating a new position. Psychologically, it works better.

- DAN: $CASA -- earlier today I posted that I had a "limit buy stop" at $32.75 on CASA. The order limited my price to the trigger price -- $32.75. It was just filled. Using a stop order allowed me to avoid buying the stock because I was afraid of missing the move...and only buying it if the move was in play. So, if CASA had not triggered my stop at $32.75, I wouldn't own the extra shares. Instead, I'd just have my original position. I'll discuss tonight in a very brief strategy session.
