Statistics are supposed to separate fact from anecdote. And then she said he has two kids with Pompe disease and my heart melted. Probably none of the MD's in the forum have seen a case and maybe no one in the forum has.
  • issues: I like these three bio techs: $CLDX $FOLD $PCRX. The others in the IBD group include $APVO $DNLI but they are too extended. My first choice would be CLDX then FOLD and finally PCRX. Any ideas or holders?

  • issues: @AlexJFraser $BBIO I like this chart! It may be the right price. I can't decide between that one and one of these: $CLDX $FOLD $PCRX. NP yet

Nice breakout, Earnings date isn't an issue now until next year. I got in yesterday and added a bit today. It looks like it has 16 days of short interest according to ShortSqueeze. Good luck!

  • champ: @captron $FOLD ----@ $7.73 now... I think it might be able to get to $8 before it runs into ....Resistance ....short interest is appx 23% of the float.....I added a little.
  • captron: @champ $FOLD Short interest is my reason for jumping in. Will be watching with your .25 stop running
  • woodman: $FOLD - example 8,429 for why not to invest in individual small/mid cap biotech companies.
  • TunaHelper: @woodman $HALO Thx for the info. Setup seems to be pretty good, though I am not too inspired by the volume today. Another one I am looking at is $FOLD.
  • woodman: @TunaHelper $HALO $FOLD -FOLD too has some 4Q activity/catalysts. My notes on $FOLD say: 4Q16 - regulatory update for Fabry drug following NDA filing delay from prior mtg with FDA; 4Q16 - Phase 2 interim data for Pompe drug; 1H17 - Phase 3 data for EB drug
  • woodman: $FOLD - continues with good action, now moving up thru resistance. It has a meeting with the FDA on 9/30 regarding an NDA for its fabry disease drug so a regulatory update is expected thereafter I guess early 4Q. Other catalysts coming in 4Q as well.
  • woodman: @woodman $FOLD Actually, I'm not certain if that meeting is on 9/30. A regulatory update is due 4Q.
  • traderbren: $FOLD -- moving higher.
  • Bridget: $FOLD is breaking out of a tight squeeze. Still getting rejected at $8 though.
  • woodman: $FOLD peeking above the 200 day.
  • Lavrock: @woodman $FOLD Significant number of outstanding calls, particularly the Jan 10. Decent numbers for Oct 6, 7 and 8 calls. All bullish.
  • woodman: @Lavrock $FOLD Thanks. I like the action and do have some. It has "Q4" catalysts.
  • Bridget: $FOLD breaking out above the 200MA today. Will look to buy on the next pullback to the 20MA
  • woodman: $FOLD added on move up through the 200 day.
  • woodman: @steve71 $BMRN $INCY $REGN - Speaking of $BMRN and $INCY, see below.... I like $EXEL as a potential buyout too, which also is mentioned below. (Also mentioned is $FOLD, which I'm long). Goldman lists companies to be in focus after Medivation deal After Pfizer (PFE) announced it has agreed to acquire Medivation (MDVN) for $81.50 per share in cash, Goldman Sachs analyst Salveen Richter said he expects a focus on other commercial small-to-mid-cap cancer companies, including Incyte (INCY), Seattle Genetics (SGEN), ARIAD (ARIA) and Exelixis (EXEL). Also noting that Sanofi (SNY), which was pursuing Medivation, has recently suggested an interest in a rare disease transaction up to potentially as large as $20B, he would expect rare disease companies of that size - such as BioMarin (BMRN), Amicus (FOLD) and Ultragenyx (RARE) - to be in focus as well. • steve71: @woodman $BMRN $INCY $REGN $EXEL $FOLD Good list, thanks. Last week I noted that BioMarin has an addressable market of up to $4B, the current cost of Factor 8 replacement in Hemophilia A.

  • woodman: $FOLD - Big volume yesterday and today. Is something up with this one? I don't know. But in response to someone's recent question asking me about biotechs I thought could be bought out, I provided a list of my small biotechs that I've been accumulating (not exclusively b/c of buyout potential but that possibility goes hand in hand with why I've been buying them since I believe in their drugs' or drug candidates' potential and attractiveness to the Market) since they've been dumped. FOLD is one I mentioned that I've been accumulating.
  • Alexandra: @woodman $GILD $RLYP $MDVN $CEMP $DVAX $FOLD $ACAD $AKRX $OPHT $GWPH $NVAX I may be a candidate for your basement if oil doesn't turn back up. Just teasing. I have stop losses in place. I hope I don't get stopped out of positions unrelated to oil. I guess we'll see in a few hours.
  • woodman: @gwenzee @Alexandra $GILD Every biotech I own has the chance, at some point, to be bought out. Doesn't mean they will be. Or, if they are, that it will happen any time soon. I didn't even sell my $RLYP due to the slim - probably extremely slim - chance that another suitor will make a better offer. Worse comes to worse, I'll get the $32. We'll know sooner rather than later b/c the Galencia deal will conclude pretty quickly. (RLYP isn't actively soliciting another buyer, but it can't ignore an offer if someone wants to make one.) Additionally, I own $MDVN $CEMP $DVAX $FOLD $ACAD $AKRX $OPHT $GWPH. $NVAX is a good one too, but I don't currently own it. As you can see, many are not based on the performance of their charts; of these poor performers, I've been accumulating here in the basement for their future potential.
  • Alexandra: @woodman $GILD $RLYP $MDVN $CEMP $DVAX $FOLD $ACAD $AKRX $OPHT $GWPH $NVAX Thanks. I wish they would buy $TRXC, $CELG, or $SRPT.
  • woodman: #Biotech Stocks - So many biotech stocks with a similar chart yesterday - i.e. pushing on resistance recent highs within consolidation and on the verge of breakouts. It had me buying or adding to a number of biotech stocks yesterday. Many breaking out today. Look at $ACAD $AKRX $OPHT $REGN. Today I added to $DVAX and $FOLD. $CEMP on my list too, but no position as I speak. That may change soon. Possible buyout potential in these, though may take a while.

  • woodman: @traderbren $RLYP #Biotech. I've done very little in the Market the last 2 weeks, preferring to sit it out in cash. But today a lot of bios are "successfully" testing support areas/lows. For how long this lasts, who knows. Biotech has been beaten up quite badly, and look like rubber bands stretched very tightly. $RLYP bounced right off the 11/13/2015 low, and is having a nice day. Also, $CEMP (I bought some back today) $DVAX $BLCM $FOLD just to name some I was looking at. My concern, however, is that it's just a very oversold bounce in many biotechs. There's a lot of supply above and, I assume, a lot of I want my money back folks. So I'm still not doing much and, mininally, want to see how these (and the market) close before saying it's time to start buying these back or adding significantly.
  • woodman: Some biotechs: $FOLD, $EXEL, $DVAX, $CEMP (long these currently). Congrats to anyone in $CLLS (no position).
  • woodman: $FOLD nice reversal.
  • woodman: $FOLD #Biotech - FOLD down 55% in the pre. No position, but it's been on my list for buy back. Biotech sooooooo under assault. Every day there’s some devastation on “bad” news – e.g., $FOLD, $TTPH, $ESPR. But even good news is massively sold into and then the stock ends up going even lower than where it was before the good news was announced. E.g., $ARWR, $HRTX. Or they are massively sold off on NO news – e.g., $EDAP. Just no way to win (if long) in biotech right now.
  • woodman: $FOLD - one helluva bounce. I played with it today and did fine, but nothing near what it could have been. I sold way too early.

  • woodman: $FOLD - Amicus Therapeutics. Works on enzyme replacement therapies. I started buying this back on Friday (pullback to and bounce off 50 day) following my sale earlier in the week. It still has some room upward I think. Recent price targets have been hiked up. I've been in this for some and my sale was simply a function of not wanting to give back profits and thinking I could get back lower. That's always a gamble, but it worked this time. (Many times I have not pulled that off.)

  • arrow: @dkoran $IBB - Not sure how you arrive at that, but go ahead if you like. You would be ignoring some blatant business conditions in the biotech area. Cash & Stock rich big biotech & specialty pharma all looking for assets. That's a really good backdrop for takeover speculation, coupled with a high approval rate of drugs in development. The $IBB is controlled by the big names, who go up when they buy growth (even if you can't stomach it). You want to short that? Short smaller names like $DEPO, $SGYP, $FOLD, $FLXN, $OPHT, and numerous others mentioned in the forum when a bid could be just around the corner? Good way to ruin a Sunday evening.
