- StockMarketMentor: Good morning. Stocks are set to open flat this morning on the last trading day of the year. Silver ($SLV) and Gold ($GLD) are doing as expected -- churning around looking for buyers at these elevated levels. Last Friday, Silver was about 85% above ...

I'll just focus on gold this morning. Gold ($GLD) fell about 5% yesterday on nearly twice average volume. Silver ($SLV) was down 8 .7% before rebounding. Both fell to key moving averages before rebounding. Silver hit the 8-day ema, while gold sl ... - RichardinME: $GLD, $SLV Anyone buying the dips in any of the metals and if so are any of you playing it with options? I was thinking about some SLV FEB 60 calls. Looks to me like silver is at support but not bouncing and I'm sure there is a lot of leverage in there like Crypto so a little concerned silver might turn into a blow off top.
- PackRider: @RichardinME $GLD $SLV Took a bit of $GDX and $NEM at the lows. Waiting on others to have a stronger turn.
- DavidG: @RichardinME $GLD $GDX Today's drop in $GLD and $GDX has been on relatively high volume. I stopped out on today's pullback ( for small profit), but will see if there's follow through to the downside. I'd like to see an eventual support level before re-commiting.
- woodman: @RichardinME $GLD $SLV - I did add to $AGQ. $SLV is back to the 8dEMA now. Friday was a huge move for SLV/AGQ on huge volume that put them well above the top BB at 2SD (touching 3SD for AGQ and nearly the same for SLV). I'm not surprised to see the pullback today. But SLV needs to hold the 8dEMA for me to stay in AGQ.

- ThomasP: @Kai $GDX $AEM $GLD $ND $NEM I cut my losses before 9% unless I have small positions (10% is my standard position) Good Luck
- DrScience: @Kai $GDX $AEM $GLD $ND $NEM A segment on tastylive addressed your situation. In summary, historically -- again... historically -- after a 3-5% sell-off in gold, 21-28 days later, price is higher. There is less historical data on moves greater than 7%, and while price is generally higher, further selling probability is higher until round number -- think 4000 in gold -- levels bring in dip buyers. You might reduce your overall exposure to weather the storm and prepare to accept a smaller loss vs. a bigger gain if price bounces back.

I suppose, if you had bought and held gold, for all the years he's been pounding the table on it, you'd have done pretty well. That's not trading, though, that's buy and hold long term investing.
