  • RichardinME: @ZMan2 $NVDA Looks like its stuck here but if we can get over 120 looks like the next resistance is 130. But I don't know how many days we can expect $QQQ to be up almost 3 percent.

  • phgruver: The major indexes, $SPY, $IWM, $QQQ are all tracking lower, in "below average" volume, ahead of the FOMC meeting. It looks like institutions are hedging the downside by raising a bit of cash. That's still no indication as to which way the market will react, though.
  • champ: @phgruver $SPY $IWM $QQQ......However they are turning-up, could be Retail players but Institutions don't normally wait until the last minute, because they are already set-up, for whatever happens, is my guess.
  • Wolf: $QQQ Gave back almost all of the days gains, now recovering.
  • traderbren: @woodman $SPY - agreed, you took the words out of my mouth ... as I was about to make the same post. The same can be said for the $QQQ, $IWM, $DIA -- I didn't want to react today going into triple witching on Friday.

  • phgruver: @StockMarketMentor $SPY, $QQQ Unfortunately I have a standing appointment on Mondays that keeps me from attending the SMM Training Session live. However, I always listen to them in the evening (at fast speed. :-)). Many times, I've wanted to send you an emoji, while listening, but, of course, I can't. The point is, sessions like this are why I joined SMM to begin with. You keep hitting on key concepts and pointing out common mistakes. It is absolutely worth my time. Keep them coming!
  • phgruver: Good morning, y'all. It's dark, dreary and wet, here in central NC, a perfect Friday the 13th. :-) The week, so far, has been a decent recovery. The $SPY is in a volatility squeeze near the 50DMA, and looks poised to move higher. $IJR, $IWM, $QQQ, $XLK all found support near the 200DMA and are now pushing higher as well. The path of least resistance looks to be higher....
  • bigbartabs: $DIA $SPY $QQQ $IWM ... as I send this,... the top ten tickers in ETF DIA are all green the top ten tickers in ETF SPY are all green the top ten tickers in ETF QQQ are all green, except 1 (TSLA) the top ten tickers in ETF IWM are all green, except 2 (BRK.B, LLY) ... that's some nice strength going into a Friday afternoon close... and into Monday. Of course, anything can happen from here.

  • bill52: @Wolf $QQQ #Jobs Hard to say. Here's the initial summary from the jobless claims report. Came in with fewer claims than last week and the 4 week average. Would seem like a good thing, but who knows these days and perhaps what the "whisper" number may have been. "In the week ending August 31, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 227,000, a decrease of 5,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 231,000 to 232,000. The 4-week moving average was 230,000, a decrease of 1,750 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 231,500 to 231,750."

  • Cjauger: $QQQ $SPY new lows
  • woodman: @scottrades @Cjauger - $SPY $QQQ $SMH - $QQQ was above, but fell through, the 50d, and today falling hard through the 20d. $SMH couldn't even close above the 50d before rolling over, now with an even uglier crash through the 20d. $SPY not down to the 50d yet, but this is ugly. All 3 are poised to close at their lows of the day.
  • Cjauger: Added to $DELL my only position. Strong volume today which is expected around earnings. I now have half a position. $QQQ looking good into the close

  • RichardinME: $META If this can break 425, it should have no trouble making an ATH. If $NVDA moves to 140, this should help it with $QQQ make an all time high. Don't know why anyone is not even looking at this.
  • phgruver: @RichardinME $META $NVDA $QQQ $NVDA is 8.13% of $QQQ, and 21.28% of $XLK. It is also 21.95% of $SMH. Of course we're watching it. It will definitely have an outsized influence on all these indexes. We just don't know which way it will go. It's a total waste of time trying to anticipate what's going to happen. Watch the charts and react to the price/volume action AFTER $NVDA reports.
  • champ: The Nas $COMPX is now down 222 points....and this drop is really something to be concerned about, for those who are holding any positions in the tech sector....... ....$QQQ...is down $5.00...... ....$NVDA is down $4.50...... ....$DELL is down $2.50 and is hanging around $109, which could be a gift, if it keeps dropping. And for Now, I have NP's in this sector, however I'm watching, along with everybody else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • champ: $AMD...had a #U-turn $154.60, now we will see if it grows legs and this needs the $QQQ to help it and so does $NVDA...for Day-trades.
  • phgruver: @champ $AMD $QQQ $NVDA #U-turn $NVDA is only 8% of $QQQ, whereas it is over 21% of $SMH. As for "competition", $AMD and $INTC are the only credible competitors, both having respectable 3-D Graphics Processors of their own. AI, of course, is a different animal, but it is being built on 3-D Graphics Processors. What $NVDA is trying to do is create a special processor that is optimized for AI. You think that $INTC and $AMD aren't working on it as well? The "moat" on this isn't as wide as some people think. $NVDA has a head start, but there are some really sharp chip designers who don't work for $NVDA....
  • champ: @phgruver $AMD $QQQ $NVDA $SMH $INTC #U-turn...I was just talking in general terms, for a sector turn or could watch for a turn in the $COMPX, for stocks in the tech sector....for tech stock Entries, could watch both or all three, whatever works for you..........

  • woodman: @Cjauger $QQQ $NVDA - I did not. LOL, I can't tell for sure if I did better or worse than just holding all the way through because I had so many shares and some from a while back, I sold at different levels and bought back at different levels over th ...
  • woodman: @Cjauger $QQQ $NVDA - Selling is easy; buying back - though around here the mantra is "you can always buy it back" - in reality, as easy as it sounds, is hard because it's hard to know if it's okay to come out of the foxhole, and additoinally, life intervenes/sh-t happens and one often misses one's optimal buy-back window even though there were the best of plans and intentions to do so. It often leads to buying back higher. That is the price of protective selling to avoid a bigger down-draft. Usually it's okay; sometime not.
  • bigbartabs: $DIA $SPY $QQQ $IWM ... all strong moving up. Of course resistance becoming an issue the higher they rise.
  • bigbartabs: $NDX $QQQ $TQQQ ... working on getting above the 50dma
  • champ: $TSM...HOD...this is one of my swing positions and this has to be one of the best Charts of the Day, on the 5-minute, all Green-stairs for now. This stock reported an earnings beat on July 17th........ ..... and on 8/9 they reported that their July revs were up 44.7% YoY...so it was just a matter of time that this would move, it was only waiting for the Markets to bounce, the tech sector...the $QQQ's...$TQQQ $QLD. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Cjauger: @champ $TSM $QQQ $TQQQ $QLD This one looks buyable here
  • champ: @Cjauger $TSM $QQQ $TQQQ $QLD.....????
  • bigreek42: old reliable $qqq. Cant lose dollar cost averaging this - already have son set up
  • RichardinME: @joelsg1 $NVDA I wonder if the data/rumors matter as much as the tape? We have about two weeks before earnings to run up and no real resistance until 140. My concern is the supply in the overall market that may keep this from riding higher. I don't see how $NVDA can run to 140 without the participation of the $QQQ"S
  • joelsg1: @RichardinME $NVDA $QQQ Sure it can and as the market leader should drag the Qs with it.
  • woodman: @RichardinME $NVDA $QQQ - The overhead 50d is 120.11, about 1.50 higher than its intraday high so far today. It remains to be seen if that's a significant obstacle or only a small one that will soon give way.
  • RichardinME: @joelsg1 $NVDA $QQQ Thanks for the reply. I think I agree with you. It was actually $NVDA that was bringing the market higher for over a year. Just seems running to 140 before earnings would... Well it would mean $NVDA would move about 30 percent since the crash last Monday. 30 percent run for $NVDA without an ER in there would probably be a record. I'm not being the bear I"m long $NVDL for the extra bang as I don't feel confident enough to play this with options.
  • bigbartabs: @woodman $NVDA $QQQ ... quite a bit of resistance near the 50dma, looking to the left to the beginning of July
  • woodman: @bigbartabs $NVDA $QQQ - And the 50d-ish was roughly support for a good while (on occasions, dips were below the 50d, but not for too long). A pullback to the 8dEMA or stall here to let the 8dEMA catch up, while not a prediction, wouldn't be surprising to me. I am holding a healthy position currently and looking forward to earnings.
  • RichardinME: @woodman $NVDA $QQQ I should have looked at that more closely. When Dan went over this I thought the biggest challenge was getting over 118 or so. That is another reason I'm not ultra long and not using options. I had a much larger $NVDA position that I sold at the 102 level after the crash into what I thought was strength. Now I see the right move at the time was to not be as long and to have had more cash to buy $NVDA in the low 90's I was too light during most of the tech run waiting for lower prices, then went a lot heavier around 1150/115 thinking I was never gonna get a pull back. :)

  • champ: $SPY $DJI $COMPX $QQQ $IWM ....looks like the Markets could close around or on HOD....with only 10 minutes left before the close.
  • woodman: $SPY $QQQ - some stops getting hit I'd imagine.
  • champ: $QQQ $TNA $SSO.....New Day-trades this morning....Trailing.
  • champ: $TSM and $NVDA....obviously....both are in sync with the $QQQ, see the zag-zags on the charts.
  • RichardinME: @PhilHarmonic $UVXY $SPY $VIX $uvxy $vix $AMZN I am long tech $AMZN, $NVDA and BTC though $COIN, IBIT, and $MSTR. I was looking for a partial hedge so I can stay long and not feel so much pain if we have another Monday like yesterday. $VIX calls are really expensive right now so even if the market goes down, the $VIX calls could lose value. Maybe I could short some QQQ? Even if the NAS goes up, my individual stocks would more than make up for my loss in covering $QQQ at a higher price. If the market goes down, my account would still go down but the hedge would offset about a quarter of my losses.
  • bigbartabs: $DIA $SPY $QQQ $IWM ... strengthening all day
  • champ: @bigbartabs $DIA $SPY $QQQ $IWM....We remember what happened to the @Iceman in 2018, he disappeared after a reversal on an ETF...$SVXY...and with #Iran getting ready to hit Israel, any large ETF swings....are high risk, if something large was to happen, I'm just saying ..FWIW.
  • RichardinME: @shoredriver $SMCI I think it's overdone! In fact, I think it will make another ATH so long as we make more highs in the $QQQ's Which we probably will do in the fall. I see an easy double here!
  • champ: @RichardinME $SMCI $QQQ....Yes it was way over-done but to the high-side and none of us couldn't even believe that it moved-up this high, especially up over $1200.....and not very many of us were posting on this stock at around $50 or so, is when I think that I first started trading this stock....and this stock has to be, the biggest money maker of all time, in just a short period of time.
  • Wolf: #Volume PM Volume on $QQQ is 5X normal for this hour.....Lots of selling and dip buying. For inexperienced traders, watch out for trade fills and sells failing or being delayed. Also watch for brokerage outages and trade stoppage. Patience!

The investment seeks investment results that generally correspond to the price and yield performance of the index. To maintain the correspondence between the composition and weights of the securities in the trust (the "securities") and the stocks in the Nasdaq-100 Index?, the adviser adjusts the securities from time to time to conform to periodic changes in the identity and/or relative weights of index securities. The composition and weighting of the securities portion of a portfolio deposit are also adjusted to conform to changes in the index.
