Many thanks for sharing all your valuable wisdom and insights with your fellow SMM members. Not the market for a buy and hold strategy that I prefer. Also, it looks like it's time for the more major altcoins to move (as they are already moving). Bigger market caps like $RTH $XRP $DOT $BCH $TRX, etc... not gonna name every single one but mainly the top 50 MC or so... But, $BTC dominance is dropping hard (57-58%), and it seems like the low caps are taking a little break. (under $500mil MC).
  • JosephM: @HillB $RTH where's the beef? there is no volume in this stock. Whom an I going to sell it to?
  • HillB: @JosephM $RTH daily volume is low, but the ETF is still liquid for the position I am trading. I look at the bid/ask spread closely before purchasing shares in a lower volume ETF. They can create more shares to match demand. If you are ever concerned about liquidity for Ann ETF check etf.com. This is not a long term hold. Just looking for a shorter term (days to month) swing.

  • janner0814: @hunter2 @GreenGhost: Thanks much for the added insight. The collective wisdom of #SMM is at high gear this weekend. Appreciate all of you! I can't tell how much a even a "tweak of info" can make a world of a difference by Tuesday. Yeah...... what is with the US Dollar?... it is major BACK & FILL times TWO... consolidating or even going down?. $UUP. I detect #INFLECTIONpoint. I have no reasonable clue, but think south.... well I do have a clue... I'd previously mentioned that the administration will do something (apparently in stealth) that tweaks the trend... because retailers ($RTH) & multi-nationals ($IBM) are being taken to the cleaners.... Hmmm... that's no longer true and even my $MSFT is doing well...

Could be early ...or not... http://i.imgur.com/ux8X5Cs.jpg The Retail sector just needs time to rest & consolidate IMO. However, if both the financials and technology/semis start flapping their wings, it'll be a MUCH stronger market when the bull decides to push forward. I've tended to notice that strong markets have both the aforementioned at its back, JMO.

  • Neil375: $DECK - @Kai - Hello, The retail sector has been weak. Take a look at $RTH and XRT. I'm reading some info about weak end of year sales and suspect that is why most of retail is not doing well. I'm avoiding retail except I have a small position in KORS. I will close that by todays end. It's just not working. $NUS has been accused of operating an illegal pyramid scheme by China. A large part of NUS's expected growth is in Asia. It is probably oversold. Yet I can't see why it would go up much until the issue is resolved.

Retail is also doing well. I picked up some $RTH this morning because I don't have time to really look at individual stocks (internet issues), but want some exposure -- so I bought 'em all.

$TJX is moving back above the 50-day $MA, as we have be ...
  • Henry: $ETF Squeezes All 5% or less: $XLV XLP $SDY SPY $XLF XLE $RTH XLI $XLY MDY $XRT DBA $IJR XLK $IBB OIH $XLU SMH $IYT XOP The only things not in squeezes are the metals, gold, housing and the Euro. 288 stocks in the S&P 500 are in 6% or less squeezes. Is this a reflection of the pre-labor day week, and Jackson Hole uncertainty? It looked rather hazy there, I guess winter is the time to go. Everyone is expecting the correction. If we get it now, with all these squeezes, it will be ugly. @Henry
  • dagdog: Sectors still working, Looking at my sector list these are the ones that caught my eye: $XHB, $IYT, $RTH, $XLV, XLP
  • gold2stocks: ...
TNX- $X - Bonds yields so very low why...everyone wants treasuries and they are not worth much. Risk too in France, Spain,
    #Greece now Sarkozy is out.

DJ30 - What is this, a triple top...a fourple top? Not looking good....down to the 50dma
    D ...
  • gold2stocks: ...
$RTH - you NEED to have some of your money in this area.
$XLY - At a new high....be long the right equities
$XLP - Consumer staples even moving higher
    $XLF - 50 dma still holds....
    $JPM - Fridays action....no hurry to buy this....still works tho ...
  • Marty: Retail Sales - Up 1.1%. Think this was expected by many, but, Good news nonetheless. Watch the autos, $RTH (Market Vectors Retail ETF). Also watch $TSLA - Tesla Motors Inc today. Year high @ $36.29 with super large position of shorts out there. $36.42 is the all time high, then, its the light blue skies afterwards. Long $F (Ford) @Marty
  • jasper: $OIH, $RTH - I have the same patten as $OIH with RTH. Another split?
  • tangv3: $RTH - also split 3:2
  • mkarter: $OIH, $SMH, $PPH, $BBH, $RTH, $RKH If you hold a position in any of these be sure not to ignore the tender offer. The deadline for giving your instructions is this Friday. My understanding is that if you ignore the tender offer (do nothing), the money you have in these positions will be frozen for 90 days. If you need more information contact D.F. King and Co (@DAN or @GARY if its allowed I'll update this with their phone number.)
  • brodyborder: $SPY, $QQQ, $IWM, $DIA - $SPY and $DIA are up, but $QQQ and $IWM (which have been leading to the upside and downside) are down and flat, respectively. $AAPL, $AMZN and $GOOG look similar to the $QQQ 5 minute chart. I'd watch to see whether the divergences resolve one way or another. Utilities (XLU) and Consumer Staples (XLP) up, while Technology (XLK), @Silver (SLV) and Retail (XRT) down seems more like risk off than risk on. However, $RTH (another retail ETF) is up -- go figure.
