I like the looks of the $XTL (2.77%) index chart a lot better, but it contains satellites and other higher growth companies, as well as $VZ and $T.

These names move slow enough that when the bottom is in and the trend changes you'll have time to react. That being said, I've been buying names like CLX, GIS, and TGT for a separate dividend account that I have. I usually start buying when the dividend gets over 4% and would rather have money in a basket of equities than treasuries

- phgruver: @billyzeke $VZ For a long term, income producing security, it's worth considering. The numbers looks pretty good, they "beat" earnings all 4 quarters last year, and projected growth, for next year, is positive. Further, they just increased the dividend, by a penny, and earnings per share are more than adequate to cover. The yield is 6.96%, which is an OK return, and reasonably safe. Price wise, $VS is near it's 52 week low. For a diversified, income producing portfolio, this is a reasonable candidate. (We have 600 shares in my wife's ROTH.) I can't advise on "dividend harvesting," but, if you are looking for a profitable short term investment, I think you can do better elsewhere.

- DrScience: @bigbartabs $DJI Would it were that simple. There are few industrials in the $DJI $DJX. The weighting in the index is led by big dogs $UNH, $GS, $MSFT, $HD and $CAT at 36% of the index. The next 5 add another 22% and include $MCD and $V, then the next 5 add 23% for a total of 75% of the index. The bottom 25% of the index includes $DIS, $NKE, and $VZ. Who thinks our $DJI will charm with animated classics, send shoes to run away faster, or talk them to death? 🤣🤣🤣 BTW... $HON is 15th on the list contributing 3.17%, and $BA is 20th contributing 2.35% to the $DJI

Old Turkey will currently say it is early innings in a bull market so investors should establish a core position and let them run. Trying to swing for small gains and trying to rinse and repeat could be a recipe for underperformance.
