I have simplified my trading by staying at a higher level... mainly the index derivatives (1x triggering the 3x ETFs), and then the major sectors (the same, 1x triggering the 3x ETFs). Sometimes I'll trade some individual tickers... but that's not where I buy and sell in size, like I do at the index and sector level trades. I have enough trouble staying on top of indexes and sectors, let alone hundreds of individual stocks. Of course everyone has their druthers... developed over decades of trading. FWIW... all the best buddy... sounds like you are doing just fine at this crazy "job" we all decided to bite off! ==:O

- oldtimer: @bigbartabs $DJI #ETF-trader good morning . . monitoring the ETF's and very limited. $ITA, $ITB, $UNG, $XLF, $XLRE are the only ones that are at or above the 8 wk SMA. Nothing stands out to me at this point. If rates stabilize $XLRE might get interesting. Otherwise all cash here

Those sectors that their 1x ETF rise above the 8dema, I will take a starter position in their 3x in anticipation of going up. If they don't within a day or so... I drop them and move on. If they do rise, I wait for up a couple %, double it. No adding unless they are rising... and if they don't go up in a day or tow... I'm out, and on to something else. Despite the macro headwinds, I'm amazed by how resilient the tech sector is. $QQQ is still comfortably above the 200 Day MA and even Bitcoin is holding steady as it consolidates between the 50 Day and 200 Day. On the other hand, the banking sector $ ... - oldtimer: @Bartabs . . went through the list today . . $DJ-30, $GDX close, $RUTAX squeezing, SMH close, $UNG,$XOP I have been missing $XLF as being over but it dropped below recently. Long $TQQQ, $UDOW, $SPXL. $RUT never comes up on TC2000 so wondering what the 3x for that is . . thank you as always

Of those pairs that I tend to track $UNG/$BOIL $XLV/$CURE, $ITA/$DFEN, $XLRE/$DRN, $XLI/$DUSL, $XLE/$ERX, $XLF/$FAS, $FNGS/$FNGU, $XOP/$GUSH, $XBI/$LABU, $ITB/$NAIL, $GDX/$NUGT, $XRT/$RETL, $SMH/$SOXL, $XLK/$TECL, $XLY/$WANT ... only $XLE $XOP are close to being above the 8dema. Also, $UNG is tough, since it doesn't correlate well with 3x $BOIL I always track the 4 index pairs... $DJI/$UDOW, $SPX/$SPXL, $NDX/$TQQQ, $RUT/$TNA... of which none are even close to the 8dema. The only one that could be worth starting a position is $DJI, that bounced off of the 200dma. All the best...

If market is really a forward looking mechanism, then market should be going down . Big boys gonna swell first then tell clients you can’t time the market so ride it out .

The $XLE has made a new high this week, along with the $XLF reaching the August highs. The $SMH has recaptured the 618 retracement from the August highs and has closed above the 8EMA for 11 days now. Breadth is strong with stocks 5.6:1 positive on the NYSE and 5.5:1 on the NASD. TICKs support the strength from the open, but sectors are 9:2 in the red. So, for now, the takeaway is that the bears aren't too interested in getting into the game while bulls aren't sure whether their secret weapons will be ready for a run up into Turkey Day. It will be hard for bulls to get further traction unless they can get behind $XLK, $XLV, and $XLF (sectors comprising 51% of the $SPX) to push together over the $SPX 4030 level.

I would be cautious about holding individual banks over earnings, it's always a crap shoot, unless you are sitting on substantial gains (I'm up 110% on $BAC), but holding $FAS or $XLF might be a good strategic move, as they are not levered to any single bank. Overall, banks should benefit from rising interest rates. @Forexpro had a post explaining how this works earlier today.
