- woodman: @Docoof $XME - Strong volume in XME for sure as it has gapped up today, and it's a strong day for Basic Materials across the board. When I look the chart, I see 7/31 intraday high of 54.05 as an area of resistance to get through. It's hitting that area now. There's an inverse head and shoulders in there too looking back to March/April for left shoulder.

- maracom: Hello all and happy end of 2022! Been traveling, haven't been trading over the holidays. Heading into 2023, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. I've been stopped out of everything except $GDX (including $NEM in my #LTA and $WPM and $SLV in my #Trading acct) $XLE ($DVN in my #LTA), and $XME ($AA and $FCX in my #LTA). I've been stopped out of pretty much everything else I tried to trade for the #GrinchRally including $AMAT $ENPH $AAPL which were all losses. I think there's a fair chance that the markets continue downward in January and even though I've been bullish $GDX $XLE $XME, a nasty enough selloff can easily hit them as well, so I'm basically headed into 2023 in half cash with relatively tight stops on everything, and I'll wait for Mr. Market to let me know what the plan is.

Months ago we were discussing how in a bearish market the bears hunt for the weakest ... - champ: $URI $CMI $CAT.....these are the Top-3 Industrial stocks ($XLI) this morning and this sector is in play.....might continue.......and $CAT is also the Top Dow-30 stock, this morning...... .....the thesis could be that for 2023, Mining and Metals could be in play, through Out the world, ....$XME, however I sure don't know and only time will answer your #thesis question. LOL

The metals closed above the 50 day EMA yesterday after testing monthly support so there is some potential here as well. I am watching $FCX here as it is forming a high base. The $XLB closed above the 50 day EMA and I am watching $FCX, $DOW and $NU ... - maracom: Precious metals still holding up just fine. I’m still at full positions in $GDX $NEM $SLV $WPM. $XME under some pressure, still in $FCX and $AA, watching for an entry into steels. $XLE $DVN pullback to the 8ema, not doing anything wrong yet. $ENPH inside day, just have a starter. $AMAT and $SMH a real dog today, stopped out of a partial, still have a starter watching the text of the 50sma and 100sma, fair chance it continues to chop between these and the 200SMA.

The ETF's are deteriorating as well. The market has already lost the $XLE although yesterday it seemed to put in a fight. Maybe it will build a base here and be an opportunity going forward. - woodman: $XME - this is where hit reached its short term low, last time (11/3) - just after a dip under the 50d. No guarantee of course. It's working down from a double top - 8/26 & 12/25 (after working up from a multi-bottom level: 7/6 & 9/26, and many times at that level in 2021). At least here, it's low risk with a stop under today's low of the day if inclined to be trading this stuff on a Friday. All fwiw.
- maracom: @woodman $XME Agree! I went in with full positioning in $AA and $FCX when we went above and stayed above the 200sma over the past 3 weeks. I've still got my positions but today was an important day for those positions and I'm also using today's low as my stop for those positions

Looking at a potential reload with that (quite similar to the $XME chart) but I'm not all that eager of a buyer today. I'm more interested in this evening's activity of bourbon and watching White Lotus with the wife.

Coal getting a big bump because Europe can’t find anything else to burn, despite all the best of intentions

VanEck and State Street Global Advisors offer their own versions of, essentially, the same investment. One isn't significantly better/different from the other, so either will produce much the same results. I faced a similar dilemma when I began to feel $QQQ was getting too expensive, so I switched to $XLK. I got a lower price point with substantially the same underlying investment.
