They all have rolled off a cliff and dropping like a rock. I'm watching for a bottom in AGNC and CLM, provided they continue to pay their dividend.

Newtek Bus Svcs (NEWT) reported 3rd Quarter September 2021 earnings of $0.56 per share on revenue of $12.4 million. The consensus earnings estimate was $0.54 per share on revenue of $12.9 million. Revenue fell 16.9% compared to the same quarter a year ago. The company said it continues to expect 2021 net investment income of approximately $3.40 per share. The current consensus earnings estimate is $3.36 per share for the year ending December 31, 2021.

- stairm01: $NEWT STO DEC 17, 30 STRIKE PUT FOR $1.10. This yield hog pays a 1.05 dividend and I'd be happy to own more at $28.90 if put to me. Last month I STO the Nov 19, 30 strike put for $1.00.
- farview: @stairm01 $NEWT Goes X-div on 12/17 so you would be giving up the dividend of $1.05 if you hold to expiration. Your strategy might not work as well on quarterly dividend dates check Sept.17 and 18.
- stairm01: @farview $NEWT I own stock and also sold the 30 strike puts. I'll collect the dividend on the stock that I own and if the stock price stays above 30, I'll collect another $1.10 on the sold put. The stock will most likely continue this uptrend into the dividend and finish above the $30 mark, even after paying the dividend.

- grcjr: $NEWT #yieldhogs - This has been a LONG time hold. I did trade around my core during the early Covid hits. It recently reported fourth straight increase to the dividend. Now $0.90. For many of these the pattern is to watch for a draw back on the stock price over 1 to 5 days following xdiv and then buy near the bottom. The general market weakness today has resulted in a drop to the lower 3std BB. I'm watching to see if there is a buy point in here. I'd like at a minimum to see it above the lower BB. Current yield of 13.35% is above my preferred range. I added a nibble at $26.15.

- AndStars: @Henry $NEWT Agreed. I sold some puts and bought some stock after the scare. Added some short calls to create a covered strangle. It's done well as the stock climbs back up. Premium x 2 plus yield is win win win. Current yield 12.18%. Ex div 9/17.
- mopick: @Henry $NEWT, the move to a BHC puts that dividend at risk imho. Banks as such are highly regulated and restrained by the Fed, unlike Reits or BDC. On the flip side they can now participate in different businesses while spreading the risk across different platforms. The problem is this will take some time, more than I'm certainly willing to take. Despite what mgmt might say, I think that dividend will be cut, likely starting next year, about the time the conversion takes place.

They did however enter into a stock purchase agreement with National Bank of NYC and shareholders to acquire all of the issued and outstanding stock. Do you have a link to different information? - mopick: @issues $NEWT, probably my biggest loss of the year. They essentially screwed their shareholders by converting from a bdc to a bank of all things! Horrible move, thus the dramatic drop. As far as the dividend, which was the main attraction, well, you might as well kiss that goodbye once they officially become a bank.

Bouncing nicely after the news of buying a bank. Yield at this price is 10.5% plus the bounce will be a nice return. Bought near the lows the past two days. Looks like the news is settling in that this buy may not be bad for NEWT.

The street doesn't thinks so but this is what the press release said "Mr. Sloane further commented, “Newtek is reaffirming its 2021 annual dividend forecast of $3.00 to $3.30 per share. Newtek has paid a total of $1.20 per share in dividends through the first six months of 2021. Newtek’s current 2021 annual dividend forecast indicates a remaining dividend payment of $1.95 per share, at the midpoint of the 2021 annual dividend forecast range, subject to Company performance and board approval. Newtek believes that its current business model and structure is performing well and is positioned to distribute between 90% and 100% of its taxable income in the form of dividends in 2021. However, management believes that, on a go-forward basis, a bank holding company will be a superior structure for its shareholders.”
- Margi1983: @Henry $NEWT Well the street sets the price not the CEO. Down 28% and still dropping. Volume is at a daily all time high and its 11:22 AM. I may put a limit buy at $9 which is where it was when the pandemic crash hit in March 2020

I'm not really concerned about the stock price as a form of appreciation since I don't want to sell my dividend producers. In fact ones that appreciate are problematic for me as I'm reinvesting the dividends (less bang for that 'free' buck) and I add to the positions with a percentage of my profitable trades to ensure that I keep growing a long-term income producers (with tax advantages).

- grcjr: $NEWT #yieldhog. This hog has been a major holding for years. The board has an upcoming meeting where they are asking stockholders to allow them "... to sell common stock (during the next 12 months) at a price below its then current net asset value ...". Generally I allow this board to do what they want because the stock plus the dividend has been great. Wish @jan2138 was still with us.

- Henry: @phgruver $NEWT according to the CEO on the conference call, they are intending to pay $3.15 this year, which would mean more dividend increases. The stock put on a 10 dollar move, that too was an over reaction. I thought the move would stall out around 34 but I didn't sell then nor did I at 38. I bought it for the dividend, so I am not upset by the sudden drop. As @Dan says, you can't trade your entire net worth, unless you are Portnoy or a Reddit ape

- Henry: @Jazman0013 $NEWT I've owned it as a yield hog for a number of years. Should have bought more when @grcjr posted about their pending dividend increase in tthe 3rd and 4th quarters on 5/11. Since then its up 25% $NLY is paying 9.5% RHRN $NEWT will yield 8.8% based on the projected divy of $3.15 and todays' price. Based on that, I'd say it is fully valued and if you bought it for a trade, take partials or set some staggered stops. Some yieldhogs like $AGNC have been long term dogs $AGNC is still down 50% from it's all time highs, so is $NLY for that matter. $NEWT, $MAIN $CODI are not in that category I have diamond hands on NEWT

Just because they have high yield doesn’t make them invincible... in fact cuts to yield and other issues are very toxic. If they slowly rise or stay stagnant that dividend is a beautiful thing. I have been taking profits on many long term holds like $PSEC and took half off of $NEWT yesterday. Too easy to go from hero to hobo...
