- DavidK: $UVXY- bought some Nov 7 - 10 calls yesterday to hedge . It appears best to just sell upside calls and collect the premium as this mf— never goes up until one day it does . I usually have a spread but didn’t this time . I think when 40 mm food stamp cards are cut off and the riots begin as planned maybe this spikes .

This ORCL pop on revs then falling on debt issuing to get revs. As well as Open AI and NVDA circular revenues are lookin to start a growth scare. All is burying the lead that GDP was revised up a half a percent ! ..forQ2. So pull forward.? Anyway ..typical growth scare around October for a market that needed a pullback or cracks in the AI spend and macro getting worse ? Don't know. My eye is on $UVXY and if it's green I'm selling and if it's red I'm buying

As long as IWM is up a percent crypto and quantum basket ripping so it's not triggering any real fear but I'm bracing for an air pocket. Lots of single stock volatility much higher than indexes suggest...

- champ: $UVXY, Repositioning-Day...the Markets are repositioning/ taking risk off, before $NVDA reports, looks like Investors are really nervous..... and I can't remember when the last time...something like this has happened, before an earnings report...... ....and now we have to be thinking, that the Markets could get a huge-Bounce...but only if they use the right #words on their Guidance....and if they don't, then we could really see a lot more blood, more Red everywhere. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ However... if this turns-out to be a positive News-event/with nice Green-News....then we need to be ready for that also. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- chrisbman360: @traderbren $VIX #Shaking_the_Tree Pretty strong pop of the $VIX to close out the day in the 19% range. Lot of protection being bought. Kind of surprised the short term $UVXY and longer term $UVIX was only in the plus 6% range.
- RichardinME: $UVXY. This seems to be a trade that always makes money. If you're short:) But really, look at the amount of money lost or made depending on the side of the trade you were on? Could have shorted in the 60's and cover in the 20's a week later. 500,k shorted a few years ago could be covered for about 1K? No stress, don't even have to be on the right side of the trade to do contango and decay. Instead of buying dips like on $NVDA, you simply short more every time we have a panic like 10 days ago.

- RichardinME: $UVXY Does anyone think this could be a good short -term hedge? Either the ETF or the calls? Sept strike ITM are trading at what half they were yesterday. The liquidly is good and the spreads are reasonable. If the $SPY were to go down 3 percent these ITM Sept calls should double in value.

- RichardinME: @PhilHarmonic $UVXY $SPY I know the time to buy protection is when it's cheap. I'm not so sure the $VIX going from 65 to 30 is cheap. Seems like the $VIX at 65 was a real over reaction for the $SPY being down about 5 or 6 percent at the worst in the premarket. Also, UVXY seems to go down a lot faster than it goes up depending on contango/backwardation. Not so sure it's the most cost effective way to hedge. I have bought $uvxy in the past when the $VIX was low and protection was cheap only to watch it decay 5 or more percent per day during flat markets and even on 2 or 3 percent down days it would sometimes only go up about 5 percent. If anything, I would think shorting this with a 65 $vix would pay of as a long term investment.

- RichardinME: @PhilHarmonic $UVXY $SPY $VIX $uvxy $vix $AMZN I am long tech $AMZN, $NVDA and BTC though $COIN, IBIT, and $MSTR. I was looking for a partial hedge so I can stay long and not feel so much pain if we have another Monday like yesterday. $VIX calls are really expensive right now so even if the market goes down, the $VIX calls could lose value. Maybe I could short some QQQ? Even if the NAS goes up, my individual stocks would more than make up for my loss in covering $QQQ at a higher price. If the market goes down, my account would still go down but the hedge would offset about a quarter of my losses.

- RichardinME: If i had the nerves I would have shorted $UVXY. I don't have a print for 4AM but it probably was above 80 at that time. Either way $UVXY will be below 10 sometime this year or next.
- champ: @Wolf #Late-again #recession.........These swings were the play....$UVXY $SDS $SQQQ $NUGT $GDX $GLD..... and Exactly... a mild or hard recession, for sure...... .....and they were Late-to-raise and Now they are going to be Late-to-cut....and thats is also exactly what has happened in the Past.... ....they let inflation climb too-Fast and Now they are going to Wait-too-long before they cut.....and mean-while the Economy will suffer again....and so will everybody else, who is on a budget and thats not good at all....... .....however some of #Politicians are really happy..... .....but it won't even phase most of us. .....So it is Now...100% certain that they are now going to cut in September. FWIW ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
