- issues: I was looking at IBD group 17 Computer Software Enterprise with $EBIX $AMPL $TTGT $AMSWA $MODN and $FIVN. We hold a couple but FIVN reports ah Mon and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. It's at a low from $211 (now $147) and I can't decide whether to hold over earnings or sell it, or sell half... suggestions?
- scorpino: $AMSWA stopped out @8.10 for breakeven. bought on 9/12, thought the big volume candle 9/11 would be a reversal, couldn't get above the 50d today, put stop below two prior days' lows, still hit
- scorpino: $AMSWA fwiw, took a flyer on this 9/12 at 8.05 thinking it had hit support at an uptrending support line. yesterday had me concerned. today i feel better ;-) 4.5% div and looked like a buy point, at least i didn't chase it at resistance, if it doesn't work out it will be for a different reason at least :-) I was bad and didn't follow my plan to stop out at 7.97 (need to set an alert since it hit and i wasn't watching) beginner errors #1,537 and 1,538 on this one I think :-)
- Henry: $AMSWA edit You could be OK with this. It looks like they ran the stops at the open. But real support could be at 7.80 or 7.66. Aside from not setting a stop or an alert, the problems I see in your trade is that volume is less than 100,000. Is there a catalyst? I see the @zig zag but if you don't really understand the company's software products (and you might, I don't) how can you have conviction in the trade? Maybe it's waiting to break through support instead of a @zig. One more thing. jojo was good enough to take flyers, I don't think you or I are that good. @Henry
- Hunter: $AMSWA (American Software)....... Just mentioning this little stock. Currently yielding 4.80%. Has been in a consolidation period for about 4 months. For some reason it is trading above average volume and breaking out. Don't see any special news on it, but it's moving. FD......... I am long this stock and have been for a couple of years.
