  • Carpe_Diem: @champ $ZION $CFR - Not sure if you saw this earlier. Morgan Stanley Maintains Equal-Weight on Zions Bancorp, Lowers Price Target to $34 on $ZION. I dipped in and bought some $ZION $CFR and $SHWB
  • Carpe_Diem: @Carpe_Diem $ZION $CFR $SCHW - Correct $SCHW

  • Carpe_Diem: @Forexpro $PNFP $CFR - I really like the small regional bank sector and they all seem to be squeezing. I have been Long $CFR out of Texas and they sure have been cleaning up of late. This $PNFP story looks similar. Thanks for sharing.
  • Forexpro: @Carpe_Diem $PNFP $CFR Thanks, @Carpe_Diem, I agree that $CFR is an excellent name ... Hope you're keeping well, and thriving; cheers!
  • mopick: @Carpe_Diem $PNFP $CFR, agreed, have been in $ISBC for many months. New high today, still sporting almost 4% yield. Fabulous growth, not expensive. Check that, close to a new high.
  • debeers: @Forexpro $KBE $KBWR $CFR $NYCB $TRMK -i like $ZION in this space.i know it is up almost 25% but its creditworthiness and loan base is solid as they come IMO
  • Forexpro: @debeers $KBE $KBWR $CFR $NYCB $TRMK $ZION Thanks, Lady DeBeers, Yeah, if we're going to be doing the "Last shall be first" game for a while longer, with banks en masse continuing to move up, $ZION is a perfectly viable choice. I've owned it in the past, with mediocre results, but it's a new day. Be it noted that its last quarterly report was prettied up with a sizable release of reserves, but the firm does appear to be doing a decent job of coping with the current landscape. I can't think of any reason why it would land in regulators' crosshairs, and that will count. I'm making sure that my past consulting partners are aware of my availability. :-) Here's hoping that you're well, and thriving. All the best!
  • debeers: @Forexpro $KBE $KBWR $CFR $NYCB $TRMK $ZION -You too . Actually, the bank was brought to my attention by an SMM member who said it was his bank and its done pretty well and i thanked him for it.
  • Forexpro: Re: $KBE, $KBWR Hi, Friends, Medium-sized, regional banks are outperforming bigger banks today, and by a fair margin. I've attached a daily chart of the small bank index ($KBWR). I've owned $CFR in the past, which worked out well, not to mention $NYCB and $TRMK, which didn't. They're all doing jumping jacks at present. Hope your day is going well; all the best!
  • Carpe_Diem: $CFR $ZION - Regional banks are on the move.
  • Carpe_Diem: @debeers $GS $MS $ZION - Lady DeBeers, Have you looked at $CFR. Reminds me alot like $ZION.
  • debeers: @Carpe_Diem $GS $MS $ZION $CFR -You are so right but i have a 3 bank limit and wanted $MS/$GS/$ZION.PS waay more than my 1 drink limit because i can own 3 without passing out!
  • Forexpro: ...
I'm not crazy about any of the banks at present, given the shape of the curve, and many of the charts look similar; bottoming out on Apr 2, staggering higher, getting clobbered on Friday. One that might be worth keeping an eye on is $CFR, which is i ...
  • Forexpro: @DAN $CMA $KRE $RF $KEY Thanks Much, Dan, In addition to these tickers, may I suggest $BBT, $CFR, and $HBAN? Plenty of tickers in this sector; whatever else may be ailing the U.S. of A, it ain't a shortage of banks. :) All the best!
  • Forexpro: ...
Given that earnings are coming up, I'm not going to add this to the list at present. The history of misses is too recent for comfort, in my view, and despite the 10 percent short interest, and the potential for rewards on good results, I'd rather wa ...
  • Forexpro: Re: Banks Hi, Friends, $BBT came up in a scan early in the week, and today a couple of additional tickers in that sector made an appearance. One is $CFR, a long-time Texas banking name headquartered in San Antonio. The broad financials looks decent; on the negative side, it looks a little extended to be a great buy right here, right now. I'd be looking for something in the neighborhood of 99.85; a move above 109 would signal that the balance of demand and supply has shifted in a northerly direction. All the best!
  • Forexpro: Re: $HBAN Hi, Friends, The other regional bank that came up in my scan - we're moving from San Antonio to Columbus - is $HBAN. It, too, has reasonable broad financial ratings, and while the chart isn't as strong as is that of $CFR, it's closer to a potential buy point, as I read it. Either a pullback to 15.32, or a move above yesterday's high, call it 16, could, it seems to me, provide a reasonable starting point. A move above 16.55 will suggest that a new, higher range is in the process of formation. All the best!
  • PRK: @Forexpro $HBAN $CFR $HBAN has been my bank for quite a few years. As banks go, I am a very satisfied customer. They provide great customer service, are easy on the fees, and very competitive. As a stock, Huntington pays a nice dividend, something like 2.5 per cent, which I believe to be very safe. At this time I have NP. Thank you for all your posts, I make it a point to read all of them. All the best to you too.
  • Forexpro: @PRK $HBAN $CFR Thanks Much, PRK, it's great to have a customer's perspective; relatively few people seem like their banks, certainly the large national brands, so a positive experience is a nice "tell". Just as a reality check, here's a StockCharts PerfChart comparing the SPY, the regional bank ETF ($KRE) and $BBT, $CFR, and $HBAN from the end of last year through yesterday's close. Thus far today, $BBT is flat, while $CFR and $HBAN are down tiny. Here's hoping that you're doing well; all the best!
  • grcjr: $CFR - getting close to exercise time for the rights offering. The current exercise price would be $13.60 (107% of NAV). This is a 4.9% discount to yesterday's close for the stock. I'll likely exercise and take the 4.9% There is still plenty of time for the numbers to change. Your election to exercise must be registered with your broker no later than 8/24. I'll do mine a day or two before that. One reference https://www.thestreet.com/story/14232754/1/cornerstone-total-return-fund-inc-announces-the-commencement-of-its-rights-offering.html

  • Carpe_Diem: @champ $BAC - I like the regional players as a long term play. I think we will be seing some M & A activity in the next year or two. $HBAN, $BOKF and $CFR
  • champ: @Carpe_Diem $BAC $HBAN $BOKF $CFR - I'm watching $KRE for a regional ETF play. As of now I'm in $FAS for a spec day trade. I'm also long $CIB...take a look and $DB for a bottom SPEC plays .. long both yesterday. Also long $GNW for a bottom bounce play and they also need rates to rise. Just watching for regional plays at this point...thanks for posting the ones that your watching.
  • Carpe_Diem: @champ $BAC $HBAN $BOKF $CFR $KRE $FAS $CIB $DB $GNW - Thanks for the reply. I'll take a closer look. $DB and $CIB, Nice Div yield.
  • Forexpro: Re: $KBE Hi, Friends, The KBW Bank Index ETF is having a roughish sort of day: http://scharts.co/1hDEjLj I'm expecting 32.80 to serve as at least initial support. It's predominantly a mid-cap offering, with the top holdings $VLY, $BPOP, $JPM, $BBT, $CMA, and $CFR. Hope the day is going well; all the best.
