  • woodman: $SWKS $RIG $LAD $SIVB $BCRX $DO - All of these interested me last night when I was zapping through charts. What they have in common is that they are trading right up to a major moving average, and could move decently higher if they can get through. Of course, they could fail at these resistance areas too, so we just have to watch them. I am not a rhrn-energy guy, but I do note that $DO is popping up through the 50 day pretty well today.
  • Bridget: @woodman $DO yeah, it does appear that oil/energy stocks are looking perky again today.
  • FHS: $DO Out of boredom, as I took Dan's advice to sit on anxious hands, I watched one of his free videos on DO. Now down below 22, a point at which he thought a decent buy point, 21-22 I recall. So why not? Well, oil down today, OIH struggling, and a market that sucks you in and spits you out; but other than that? So, bought a small position with a stop in place, or from which I can build a larger position if, if only... Other than that, just monitoring the few stocks remaining in my trading portfolio, and with a lot of cash on hand. Well, once she saw that, it's now in my wife's hands. Cheers.

  • mradams0621: @tnt following Dan's chart of the day and strat. session rec's, I'm watching $DO, $XLE, and $OIH for starter positions for longer term holds, with stops of coarse. Where do the refiners live? XLE would be my guess- so skip it and keep OIH ? (to reduce exposure to refiners?)
  • blueberryman: @mradams0621 $DO $XLE $OIH There a lot of overlap in the energy sectors ETF's. For example the refiners $VLO and $PSX are in both the $XOP and $XLE while drillers such as $DO and services company $BHI are in both the $OIH and $XLE.

  • tnt: @greberalan $RIG $DO etc, why drill thpusands of feet under the ocean surface when it almost bubbling out of the ground in shale country? Deepwater names are under deep water for as far as the eye can see. I am sticking with onshore names
  • bob1495: @DAN Last week you were positive on oil service companies: $OIH, $DO, $RIG because the dollar was getting cheaper and this was pushing up the price of oil. Is this still your position?
  • Iceman: @LTCSteve $FANG - not sure why you were so ready to re-buy it only a dollar lower. Hope your new stop is tight. This group is turning back down. See the charts on $RIG $APA $NE $MUR $NBL $XEC $DO $QEP and others for confirmation
  • tnt: @Iceman I have many of those tickers on my watchlist as well, but they are not the names I would be watching for "confirmation". $RIG $DO $APA $NE are focused on offshore drilling. Definitely not the place to be imo. The best names right now are domestic onshore shale companies with a more oily focus. Nat gas has been significantly weaker when compared to oil. I have posted 4 of my favorite setups here, 3 of them being inverse head and shoulders retesting neckline. Buy the pullbacks going forward imo

We (my wife and I) also bought $DO (beat earnings .66 .73). $DO looks like a bull engulfing pattern to me. An article said they won't offer a special dividend but will keep the regular dividend. Small 100 share positions. Edit: 1) earnings Feb 17th AC, 2) $NBR market cap is 3.07B, which good size and relatively lower risk than smaller firms in the field, 3) Short interest is 8.3%, which is similar to competitor $NE which is 9.7% short interest, 4) this is a trade and not an investment.
