  • Trixie: $GPK had been thinking of selling calls on part of my position.. Thinking the 17.50's I'm not sure what month would make the most sense, as it looks like the bid/ask for most seem to be wide and not much volume traded..Is this just an example of a stock with a bad bid/ask or am I completely missing the point to selling c-calls on a position. I'm thinking that $GPK will not be able to hold this level. thx
  • Trixie: @issues $SLCA, $URI, I can see the longer term trendlines and i have some interest in these based off of that.. Yet I wonder if they are going to return to their glory days, and run in the same fashion as they had earlier.. Just thinking out loud.. I've been pondering where I would like to place my chips for the next while, and I wonder if its not into something that hasn't had the real good moves, Yet. Something where the 5 yr chart looks like it has built a good base and is only starting to move out of it.. $GPK looks to be another steady eddy off the 5 yr that has me interested. But there hasn't been much consolidation so the 200ma would have to be used for stop reference..
  • Trixie: @mujeebshah $GPK, not sure about trading, but nice trending stock for sure.. Not an idea entry, but maybe one u can add to the wanna own list.

  • bybyjanice: IP: IP beat, but not in comparision to last years numbers. This article breaks down the quarter. I don't think this is such a great report. Consumer packaging was a problem so I am thinking $GPK might have a problem too although that company is probably undervalued. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/international-paper-beats-estimates-140952139.html
  • bybyjanice: BERY@woodman: I saw the the show yesterday and was pleased to see another play in the group. $PKG reported yesterday and missed on EPS. http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/01/22/packaging-corp-of-america-misses-where-it-counts.aspx I am not sure what to expect from the rest, $GPK, IP, and RKT. Still holding some IP.
  • bybyjanice: IP, $GPK, PKG: These appear to be fiscal cliff stocks.
  • sueinvenice: vol squeezes - here are a few more i came across. $HSP, $GPK, $PBI, $EGHT, $HBAN, $ALL, (AMRN, $SCI, $FHCO - phase 2?). worth watching - MYL. some of these are lower volume so be careful. i am currently long $PBI, $HBAN & HOV.
  • bybyjanice: PKG: @Karl, $GPK is another packaging company of interest. Both $GPK and $PKG reported great quarters. I think we have to be cautious in the event folks are trading out of these safer trades and into the cyclicals.

  • evanesce: @Dan, the sub-group of packaging industries has a bit of strength too (these came up on a personal Telechart scan). Interesting charts include $BMS PKG PTV SEE, and maybe also $GPK NTIC. Yesterday I happened across two Bemis containers, one for food and one of those huge annoying blister packs that have to be sliced open with a Bowie knife. $SEE, Sealed Air, makes bubble wrap and we go through a lot of that too. This seems to be an unloved and largely overlooked sector with a few decent performers. As expected there are a lot of laggards there too. One caught my eye as a potential short, GRF. I have had decent luck when a stock charges up then rolls over, but because I'm expecting near-term relief in the overall markets this would not be a prudent time for me to start a short position (per your Three-Day Rule).
