  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM so at this time do you move on or do you keep GSM on your watchlist for re-entry?
  • DrScience: $GSM Okay, now this is getting weird. No news; no HODL posts on reddit... Just bears running for their lives.
  • bhaden1: @DrScience $GSM Totally agree. I could never buy it as it did not pull back to let me in - tyring to keep disciplined entries. Should have held my nose at $7.50. Monster trade if you are in it!
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM What does TTMAR stand for?
  • DrScience: @lanedra $GSM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WCFUGCOLLU
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM Just listened to the song! Way cool! Thank you so much!
  • DrScience: $GSM Bears finally made a stand at $9.00. TTMAR for a 50% gain.
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM Sorry, not a good command on the abbreviations, yet. What does TTMAR stand for?
  • DrScience: $GSM the energizer bunny just keeps on going. Needless to say, panicked Yogi's have forgotten about stealing pic-a-nic baskets, but the HODL IWMMB crowd from years gone by is feeling better about the stock. BTW, I sold calls against my stock too soon.😖
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM Took some profit yesterday. Still long.
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM Seems to be stalling and pulling back. Maybe you will be okay.
  • DrScience: @lanedra $GSM Impossible to tell when the bears will capitulate. They've been leaning on the stock since February, hoping the company would die. Now, hope has cost them a double!
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM still pushing higher!
  • lanedra: @DrScience $GSM what is your target?
  • DrScience: $GSM short squeeze. Stock is NTB and bulls piling in.
  • lanedra: $GSM headed for $9?
  • DrScience: $GSM reported earnings last night. The stock is trying to move above $6.44, the JUN high and CMF is strong. While the stock is NTB (None to borrow), bears scramble to shore up to their short positions. Here's hoping they get ants in their pic-a-nic ...
  • DrScience: $GSM three-day pullback to the 50 DMA. Possible low-risk buy on a bounce, but waiting until next week works, too.
  • scottrades: Some #Earnings to be aware of this coming week: $JPM $GS $PEP $BAC $DAL $WFC $GSM $C $UNH $BLK $AOUT $FAST $PNC $MS $AA $CAG $ANGO $ERIC $OGI $USB $ALV $FRC $CTAS $ASPU $KSU $BK $SCHW $SLP $TFC $FHN $HOMB $SAND $STT $EXFO $THTX $WABC $WAFD $WNS $MRTN $VLRS $PBCT $INFY $SCR

  • DrScience: $GSM new 52-week high. Stock is NTB, and panicked Yogi's are starting to lose their continence... er, composure! Sold JUL 6 Calls @ .55 to cover stock.
  • DrScience: $GSM reports after the closing bell today. CMF is nicely positive as metals are still being bought. For those in the MAY 5 Covered Call who do not want to hold over earnings, selling the covered call @ 4.45 would net a 12% return over the past 24 days. Another alternative would be to roll the short call out to JUN 5 @ .20 credit. This would lower cost basis to 3.79, below the current 50 DMA. The stock is NTB (None-Available-to-Borrow), so the Yogi's are hoping for the worst. Earnings release could blow the stock up... or down! Be aware.
  • jetace: $UEC $GSM are setting up on nice volume. $LXU $BTN are squeezing and need some volume. $BTG is up on volume and ready to break above Resistance in the Gold space
  • DrScience: $GSM An @Aragorn gambit... Three-day pullback to the 8 EMA to retest breakout level. Adding MAY 5 Covered Calls for phase 3 move to the $5-level.
  • DrScience: $GSM breakout continuing to new 52-week high, second day out of consolidation.
  • DrScience: $GSM A love story: 50 DMA catches price, price runs away with the upper Bollinger band. Resistance, yes -- but a breakout could be imminent. Here's a #CoveredCall to catch up on the drama... $GSM 21-May-21 5.00 Covered Call @ 3.87 with 28 DTE --- Cash Settled Account (IRA) ==================== Buy 100 Shares at $3.99: $399.00 Sell 1 21-May-2021 5.00 Strike Call at $0.13: ($12.50) Capital Required: $386.50 Cost Basis (Break Even): $3.87 Maximum Gain: $113.50 Return on Investment (ROI), if exercised: 29.37% Annualized Return: 2768.54% Margin Account ==================== Buy 100 Shares at $3.99: $199.50 Sell 1 $5.00 Strike Call at $0.13: ($12.50) Capital Required: $187.00 Possible Cost of Broker Carry at 7.00%: $1.07 Cost Basis (Break Even): $3.88 Maximum Gain: $112.43 Return on Investment (ROI), if exercised: 60.12% Annualized Return: 46156.81%

  • GOOSE: @Woodman $GSM, $HBM Hey! Thank you for these suggestions. Have a green day. (Eptake) GOOSE
  • woodman: @GOOSE $GSM $HBM $SHCN - you're welcome. I hope they work out for you. Continue to watch $SCHN at the $17.68 level. It's making another run at it. I cheated a little and decided to enter this one this morning even though we have no move up through yet. That may not be well advised but .... Reports 10/27 bmo, btw.
  • woodman: @GOOSE @Lou $SCHN - in the same sector (industrial metals and minerals), you may want to watch $GSM (industrial metals) and $HBM (industrial minerals) as well. Np in any of these as I type.

  • BuffaloBill: $L - @Chris Mayer Capital and Crisis Also has sell on $GSM but I noticed all funds are in accumulation Long 12.78 8MA just above 50DMA which is a rounding up last big fund purchase 50K shares 3X at about 12.70
  • scorpino: RVM- @ccrown4 .. interesting chart. 1/2mil shares bought sounds positive, but that also means 1/2mil shares were sold ;-) ... I'm novice so don't know how to interpret the signal that transaction is broadcasting- but it does seem significant. Looked at some reports on fido re $RVM - there wasn't a lot but some analysts sounded bullish...seems low risk entry. But I also looked at $GSM - had big vol on 5/15 - went down...hope some experts will weigh in on this also look what happened on 5/10/12- last 'high' vol day and was even less vol than today!!!

  • dmb: $AAPL - @emi, thx for posting the news. if the iphone 5 does turn out to be a World phone (support both $GSM & CDMA), then $QCOM should stand to benefit since they have the chip that does exactly that.

  • Dave: ROC/GSM - Here are a couple of other companies that may not be totally "rare earth" but are both more mature companies. $GSM reported today and was light on their earnings and is taking a little hit. $ROC reported about a month ago and surpassed both earnings and revenue estimates. In this market, I have no positions in either one at this time, but they are on my Watch List.
  • ckonelli: @Captron FYI I believe the issue with AT&T $T VZ and the IPAD2 is that the AT&T one has $GSM so it is extremely popular here in the US with tourists buying to take them overseas The $VZ one doesn't have the same $GSM no international connection The only reason I know is that when I went to buy my IPAD2 at the Apple store in $NY same issue $AT & $T sold out first and I was told by numerous staff members that it is because of the $GSM chip People buy it here cheaper with the currency conversion take it back to their respective countries and then sign up for the data plans. This is what I was told is why there is a backlog
  • dano51: IBD- Ran a screen for highly rated stocks that showed a triple digit percentage EPSgain in the most recent quarter and at least 100% gain in the current quarter. The stocks had to be in the top third of industry groups, not thin, and within 15% of a high. Survey says,$GMCR,RBN,$IPGP,LCAPA,$GSM,CRS,$PTEN,BHI,$OVTI,TWI,$ERIC,GT,&GPK. I know you IBDers have seen this but thought I'd post it for others to contemplate over the weekend.

  • rayinpa: $AAPL - ATT vs Verizon IPhones - I did a search and found the following info at the following website: Verizon iPhone can't handle data and voice simultaneously http://www.tuaw.com/2011/01/11/verizon-iphone-cant-handle-data-and-voice-simultaneously/ Simultaneous use of data and voice is currently not possible on Verizon's CDMA network. This will not happen if and when Verizon and Apple create an LTE-based iPhone. LTE can handle both data and voice at the same time, as it is based on the current iPhone's $GSM technology. Again, maybe this will be Apples next catalyst. Comments anyone. Regards, Newbie @Ray
  • mepcc1: $AAPL - one more thing on the ATT iPhone is that it is $GSM - $IF the Verizon phone does become a reality, from what I am reading, it is slated to be CDMA which to those who travel overseas, is useless. Another reason we have stuck with ATT and iPhone - even before iphone- ATT was the only service which I could use to provide my son with a phone from which he could call from anywhere in the world. He had to travel extensively during college and he was one of the few in his group who could call home and was able to lend his phone to others so they could keep in touch also. Possibility of GSM/CDMA dual compatibility phone maybe later this year but then $GSM service would have to be supported by Verizon.
  • jameslane: $PAY and $GSM Anybody else watching these. Both appear to be at or near support. Good time for a starter position?
  • Dannomon: $GSM - One of @Dan's picks. Train is beginning to leave the station.
  • richard9f: $GSM Pivots Line, I appreciate your comments on pivot points used for swing trades. If I'm following you correctly, $GSM closed above its pivot of Friday after 3 days of higher volume than the prior 7+ days. It also made a new high (from 11/9) and the volatility expansion on the weekly chart looks like it may have 2 points to go until it hits the upper trendline. Do you concur? Thanks
  • richard9f: $GSM Volatility #squeeze pop from the 20sma to the top BB. It is at its new high from Nov. Volume has picked up. This looks like the golf balls through a snake pattern.
  • wachholder: $GSM, richard9f - I had taken an initial position into the close yesterday. I liked the price action coming out of a solid base. Volume looked good, the indexes looked good, and not extended Good trading wachholder
  • lizwaite: $AAPL @snakedriver Here is an article describing the difference between $GSM and CDMA cell phone networks: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-gsm-and-cdma.html Here is an article describing what the CDMA iPhone could mean for Apple in terms of sales: http://gigaom.com/2010/10/11/cdma-iphone-sales :)Liz

  • gamiller: CDMA - I'm a mobile developer by trade, so feel free to ask questions about the technology or the marketplace. Basically, CDMA is the only* alternative to GSM. Phones work on either one network or the other, seldom both; although, I read a rumor that the next iPhone will be usable on either network. $GSM carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile. $GSM is hugely-popular in Europe, India, and China. CDMA carriers: China Unicom, Verizon * There used to be another competing technology, TDMA, which was used by AT&T about a decade ago. AT&T left a very bad impression on this guy.
  • PGdow30: CDMA- $CHU actually has WCDMA, which is an iteration of GSM. Even though it just has a "W" in front of CDMA, it is a completely different technology. $QCOM owns CDMA technology, and WCDMA is kind of like open source technology built on $GSM technology. China Mobile and China Telecom have proprietary technology that is similar to CDMA.
  • elguapo: I'm also 80% in cash and looking at $MRVL, $OII, $DTV, $GSM and GFA. It will be great to hear some feedback...it is not good to trade alone and n! minds are better than one. Thanks.
  • aptgods: I am looking for better wireless phone connectivity, having been with T-mobile for many years now. Reason for that was the need to have a $GSM band (Europe). 4 years ago there only Singular and T-mobile had $GSM phones. Now it seems everyone has the world bands and there are many choices. I don't know if it is the phone or the network at fault for dropped calls and weak reception. Recently heard that Verizon picked up more band capacity in the $USA which makes them strongest, I guess, of the available subscription phones. Do we really only have 4 choices?? Verizon/Sprint/T-mobile/ATT? Looking for recommendations based on your experience...Thanx
