  • 1winkie: $NS - up +8% as Citi upgrades to Buy, chairman buys 200K shares
  • Forexpro: @sierramp Hi, Sierramp, For what little's it's worth, I have small, starter-esque holdings in $NS and $OGE, but neither seem to me to be at anything like a decent entry. One to perhaps keep an eye on is $WMB. I've known them in years past, and they have had their challenges, on and off. Still, it offers a decent yield, and has generally been performing well, of late. Not here, but an alert around, say, 26.25 might work, just to put it on your radar if it pulls back. Sorry not to be of more help; others here will hopefully have some views. Best of luck!

  • CraigReynolds: Bought opening small positions in $DB $FEYE $SQ $NS for trades. Working nicely, will watch for continuations.
  • 1winkie: @CraigReynolds $DB $FEYE $SQ $NS $FEYE was raised to Overweight from Neutral with a $20 price target at JPMorgan, with the firm talking about strong billings and conservative guidance understating the growth upside. The consensus target price is $20.30, and a 52-week trading range is $14.20 to $20.61
  • CraigReynolds: @1winkie $DB $FEYE $SQ $NS That was reason to enter if it looked good at opening. Will see. Don't know.

  • champ: $CLR still seems to be one of the leaders...still holding....have been watching $RSPP but I'm to late now....missed it... I just couldn't pull the trigger. Going to just hold onto $XOP $OIH and have been trading both of these $NS and this one $CIE with size. However.... if oil turns my trailing stops will take me out.....not going to mess around with any oil stocks....no one knows where the bottom is. Small position in $MDR and $PBR but watching...Spec day trades on news.
  • champ: @Aragorn $CLR - Great company..a low cost producer. I got in this morning on the open with a Spec swing on the upgrade news from Scotia Howard Weil this morning in the PM... they said that they think this is the best stock to own in an oil recovery. Earnings were yesterday and they missed. I have spec swings also in $XOP $OIH $NS and $CIE in the oil sector.
  • Aragorn: @champ $CLR $XOP $OIH $NS $CIE thanks
  • champ: $MLPL was at HOD $13.77 all pipelines are climbing a little....for now...still holding this ETF....and $OKE $NS....don't really know why other than WTI Oil is moving up a little.....now out 1/2.
  • champ: @champ $MLPL $OKE $NS -----now OUT all energy ....back on watch list.
  • champ: $$MLPL all pipelines companies had a great day. Selling $KMI $OKE $OKS $NS $SAVE $MRO $OXY $OAS $SSO out 80% of all going into the close....taking some risk off the table here. Sold all these retail stocks .....day trades this morning $COLM $DG $DLTR $HD....
  • champ: @naugeyii $OKS great move today up over 13%...I like it and all of these and I have them on all my watch list... I'm only in $KMI on the open....I had no time today very busy with other trades....I mess up... $EDP $MMP $NS $OKE $ETP $BWP $ENB $EEP $PAA....all of these move up and down fast.... if oil turns. You need to do the research and pick out the ones that you like. LOL
  • GreenGhost: CSFB this morning took a meat cleaver to their price targets to a very wide swath of names in the energy sector with particular focus on the E&P MLP names. The list is too long to list here so I'll just list a few. This appears to have kicked these stocks down another level and many such as $BBEP and $LNCO are in a virtual free-fall (down 12% and 6% on the day)and are at or near 52-week lows. If you're long any of these names just sell them. You have plenty of time to buy them back at I suspect ( much) lower prices. $DPM, $BBEP, $EPD, $LNCO, $NSH, $VLP, $PAA, $NS, $PBFX and $NKA. If I'm able to dig up a link to the report I'll post it.

One of my newsletters called the bottom back in April. I originally bought 4/25 then got stopped out then bought it back. CVRR looks good but my concerns is the same as Jan's.

  • tmjska: NS/NSH - NuStar Energy earnings out this morning. Beats estimates. Distribution declared (ex.date on May 8); roughly ~7.5% annually. Distro not increased this time QoQ. Both $NS and $NSH up 1-2% on a heavy trade. $NS looked like a breakout but it pullback. Conference call later in the day. If I did not have either one ( I have a ton of both) I would buy on a pullback. Note, NuStar is in pipeline, storage, and asphalt business (the latter is for growth). Long NSH/NS.
  • tmjska: Yielders... NSH/NS (pipeline/asphalt/oil storage)... an FYI... approaching the new distribution date; distor to be declared on or around the arnings release (4/30). I don't think earnings will be much of an event - the company pretty much set the expectations 10 days ago. But the disto level is still quite juicy - 8.7% for $NS and 7.75% for NSH. The chart looks great for both (I prefer NSH). I am long both (much more NSH) and think they both go higher before the distribution is paid.
  • tmjska: ortho - I love pipelines, those with safe distros, available revolving credit and a growth component. One I mentioned here on several occasions is NuStar (NSH or $NS, growth = asphalt refining). I also like E&P MLPs with safe distros - I am long LINE (fortress like oil hedge through 2011). One concern of mine is that the government may decide to change the tax code for partnerships to get more tax revenue. So far they have not talked about it but one never knows. Of the integrateds, I am long $PBR and $COP (also long USO). Natgas - $SWN is my favorite. Drillers: deep drillers - $RIG and $DO (Long both). also have a small position in $WFT (natgas + oil). Started a small position today. I am looking at most above tickers as long-term holds. $CLB is on my watch list.
  • tmjska: Fixed income: take a look at $NSH (and NS), perhaps setting itself up nicely to follow it's sister company $NS higher (NS, a limited partner, broke out to the upside yesterday after the earnings release; $NSH, a General Partner, is just below the 200ma). I mentioned the underlying company before (NuStar Engergy), an MLPs w/ a 9% annual distribution. The company (NuStar) is a "play" (hate that word) on asphalt this year (growth driver), but most distributable cash flow comes from the storage and product transfer segmens (pipelines). Technically, both $NS and $NSH have formed a long base and there is a potential for a nice move higher. I am long both $NS and $NSH for fundamental reasons. $NSH is undervalued relative to $NS (on earnings/ distribution comparison).
  • jan2138: @tmjska: $NSH and NS-nice moves up. I will watch for pull backs to, in case of $NSH, the 50 day ema where the yield would be more attractive at 9.31 and $NS to 44, the 200 day sma where the yield would be 9.61 Forgetting the yields, these would be better entries for new positions. Nice trades going for you.
  • tmjska: jan, thanks. I agree Re: buying points - 50ema for $NSH and #200sma for NS. Those are the levels I too would add to my existing positions, althouh I've already bought a lot during the past several months of carnage (my lowest buy for $NSH was at ~13; I could not believe the order got filled!). Love the company's fundamentals. The latest earnings report for the quarter (yesterday) was nothing to write home about, yet the units are trading up on volume, which tells me that both $NS and $NSH have legs to move higher.
  • tmjska: $AUY, $NS, LINE, $NSH, SGR, $VLO - nice looking charts. Long all; trimmed $AUY into the 8% pop earlier.
  • tmjska: Asphalt shortage - Very happy to see the main street slowly warming up to the asphalt story :). I have been long asphalt shortage and infra rebuild for a while now, via the general partner of NuStar Energy (NSH). $NSH is now well off its lows at 12-13; I think it is basing and getting ready to capture the 200ma). Same with $NS (the LP part of NuStar). Russ, thanks for the link.
  • tmjska: snmtaders, most MLP's (master limited partnerships) are structured such that there is a limited partner (LP, in this case NS) that owns hard assets (pipelines, storage tanks, terminals, asphalt refineries, etc.) and runs day-to-day operations, and a ...
  • tmjska: jan, My favorite $MLP is NuStar - $NS and NSH. I am long $NSH and will likely be adding after the distribution next week (ex-divy on 11/03). NuStar will be growing earnings next year big time due to their asphalt business (fixing the roads, bridges, etc. will take place no matter who wins, especially under the O's administration), acquired from CITGO. They blew past the street estimates in the most recent quarter and increased their distribution. Note that the next earnings will come in much lower (no asphalt). I expect S&P to upgrade NuStar's raitings pretty soon as they are paying off their debt. Finally, the chairman Greehey (the same guy who created VLO) is buying $NS and $NSH big time. Made another purchase this week. I am also long LINE. They seem to have a perfect hedge.
  • razmataz: I have sorted oil & gas pipelins to find those that are above their 20dma. have sorted the stocks for those that are above their 20 $GEL $NS @TPP $HEP $PAA $TLP $SXL $ETP $MMP $KMP (KINDER @MORGAN # at least I know this name) DEP $BPL $BGH $SEP TCLP $BWP $ETE $DPM MGG $NSH [edit] as i look at these names, they have made large moves off their bottoms to gt above their 20.
  • tmjska: MLP's... May I recommend $NSH and $NS (NuStar). I picked quite a bit of $NSH in the 13-15 range during the carnage a week ago; all long term holds.NuStar reports earnings on Thursday. Already pre-announcted to the upside, also increased distribution. p.s. I have not been posting for a while - family calling - got a baby boy 2 weeks ago - but have tried to read most that was said/ posted in the mentorland - thank you Team and thank you @Dan for making a site and a communicty like this possible !!

These past 5-9 years visited $NS a lot, as well as NB, Ontario, et al.:) BTW being a tenth the size of the US is a plus:)I believe smaller tends toward less corruption, et al -- it's easier to go undetected in larger societies.
