  • Forexpro: Re: $OI Hi, Friends, I was looking at a stock that came up in a scan ($WRK), and was comparing it to some other stocks in the materials sector. Missed this one; after putting in a high, it pulled back in textbook fashion to a point midway between the 38.2 and 50 percent retracement levels, and is now moving higher again. The expected move would be a retest of the previous high, or something close to it, but having missed the ideal entry, I'm disinclined to chase now. Plenty of other charts. Nonetheless, this is one that I intend to keep half an eye on. Here's hoping that your day has gone well; all the best!

  • issues: Now oil can shoot back up since I stopped out of $EOG $OIH and $XEC. As I typed in OIH I pushed enter too soon and fortuitously got $OI. Now that looks like a good packaging company. Probably some of you own it. $OI is in the same category as $BLL (IBD group 78).

  • Aragorn: @Trixie $OI You sound like me now LOL These are 2 valid signals that in my world are signals to add. The weekly as long as it stays inside and up you can ad on longer inside intraday bars like 15 30 60's with a certain comfort level. This is a combo shot both are taken out
  • Trixie: @Aragorn $OI :) cool.. I suppose if i wait til tomorrow I'll know what the monthly chart could tell me too.. begin a new month..
  • Aragorn: @Trixie $OI You are 100 percent correct, I totally forgot the new month is tomorrow. All monthly signals will be invalid on the new month. I would have realized tonight when I do my list :)
  • Trixie: @captron $OI Have you added? This one looks to be looking more constructive.
  • captron: $OI-Check out this ticker. The weekly shows a definite reversal off the bottom and the daily has crossed above the 200. It has been climbing up the 8ema. I have a small position.

  • dunsek: $PPL $OI #PickYourBottom both flirting with the 'now I'm interested' line and I just started a position in $OI Don't think you need to be in a rush to buy either, though $OI looks low risk rhrn with a stop just below the 50 day. $PPL I'm still looking for a close over 34.65 rather than just a touch of it. Both of these were on the 7% or less from the 52 week low and crossing the 8ema scan the other day.
  • dunsek: #PickYourBottom scan @LTCSteve After reviewing last night, I think that $OI and $PPL are actually my favorites out of the 'within 7% of the 52 week low and crossing the 8ema ' scan. $OI has a triple bottom around 23, and would need to break out over both the 50 day and the recent highs (24.50ish) for me. It's got higher lows and a V bottom in early March. $JOY over 41 I quite like too. $PRU I think I'd stay away from for the time being. $KSU is interesting too because of the confirmatin in the transports @DAN has been pointing to. Needs a close over 108 maybe?
  • dunsek: $PPL very close to the break out level edit- brain spasm- I meant $PPL, not $OI
  • dunsek: #PickYourBottom #Scan trying a new scan today which returns those stocks which are within 7% of their 52 week low and which are crossing up through the 8ema. Why 7%? Because trial and error. It wasn't coming back with any if I went less than 7% away from 52 week low. Results at the moment are: $PRU $KSU $PPL $JOY $SNI $OI Will monitor and see how it goes.
  • dunsek: @LTCSteve #PickYourBottom good question. $PRU actaully is really interesting me RHRN ; $JOY popped up on the screen too, and it's interesting but I think it needs to show some breaking out; $SNI came up, but looks like it wants to go sideways still; $OI looks like it won't hold the 8, $PPL is interesting but looks like it might have trouble going through 34.50, $MSI came up but it's a fugly chart and $KSU came up and I like that it's flashing an inside day at the moment, but looks premature. So gun to my head, $PRU, but I may just watch for the day

  • rczar: AAPL.......the 445 calls has an $OI of 993 but traded 62,500 contracts today...guess what the pin SHOULD be.
  • rah: $LAD @Goose - I have a question! Despite my confidence in direction of the stock, I have found it difficult to justify #options on $LAD as they seem very thinly traded & with large spreads each time I have taken a look. After todays close, March 40 Calls have currently the largest $OI @ 155 contracts now. Didn't seem like very many and the spreads were too wide for my to justify. For eg. March $40 Puts, the Bid/Ask Spread is 1.40/1.70 or 0.30.....so $0.3/1.7= 17.6% extra risk just t get in. And, the last went for $1.50 so .20/1.70 is still 11.8% right out of the gate. If I am doing it right. You would have to be VERY sure you got the direction correct to enter. Just curious if you agree with this view and how you have entered on $LAD Puts. Thanks, rah
  • rczar: AAPL......BTO Weekly 445 Call @ 9.50....I am basing this trade on the #options expiring tomorrow. The highest $OI is the 465 strike price. As for volume today, the 470 is the highest @ 57,000 contracts, followed by 465 @ 25,000. We shall see into the close and the opening tomorrow.
  • ginny: AAPL. Interesting article. I did add to my position on Friday. Looking at the $OI, I thought it would close around 500. So I bought when it dipped lower. I too feel tat it will rise on Tuesday. Looking at the chart, it is awful. They have missed earnings twice and sold off. But one might ask, is a miss already priced in. I think it is. I bought an iPhone at $VZ this dec and they tried their best to push me to the Galaxy. I have heard that from others. But let's not count out the mini tabs, or china prorating the price over 2 years on the iPhone. Will probably sell half before earnings an play an option
  • rczar: GOOG......For those holding this, either in stocks or #options, 710 looks like a pin in price today. Only 300 shares have traded in PM and 710 is the Ask, and has been firm for awhile. as for the #options, it is hard to tell, the $OI is all over the place, with highest $OI @ 700 and 750...your bet ! No position
  • rczar: AAPL......In my post last night and for about 2 weeks, 500 looks to be the pin today. 500 is highest $OI by far. Also, my Ludicrous Forecast last night was that it could slide as low as 485-90 or test 483 again, but settle @ 500 EOD. Happy Hunting Gang !
  • kaw01021: $GOOG - for today, it has by far the highest $OI in the 700 range, on both calls and puts, more than double (almost triple) the other OIs. Granted, 750 is high as well...but somehow I don't think we'll get there today
  • rczar: $GOOG @kaw01021.....Look @ $OI @ 730
  • kaw01021: $GOOG - @Flint - Glad to see you. And YES!!!! Maybe I'm starting to get this? Before you responded, I looked at the $OI, and the $OI for 700 is more than double the others. Got in at 3.00. 715P $GOOG also drastically underperforming relative to market and $QQQ
  • flint: $GOOG @Kyle holding overnight, we'll see. Theta 1.10, but with monthly expiration and such a large $OI for a pin, I may make an exception and hold. We'll see how we close.
  • rczar: AAPL.....Support levels.......493, 483, 468......500 call #options @ 500 has highest $OI, but 450 is up there also. Food for thought. On the upside 550 is heavy in $OI, but don't see that happening. 500 or below closing on Friday, is my guess.

  • tstrarup: $AAPL @dreambby56. I'm waiting for a little more down to buy weekly calls 650 under 1.48 for lottery. Just a few. $OI and Volume highest that I can see is 650.
  • flint: $AAPL - For pinning, you want to see if there is an obvious strike of large $OI of both calls AND puts. In today's case, there is at 600. A total of 44,089 contracts (calls and puts)
  • flint: $PCLN @lathrem There is little $OI on $PCLN, so pinning is not clear because of lack of interest.
  • flint: $AAPL - @Kyle I just checked and the $OI (calls + puts) are very close at the 600, 605, and 610 strikes with 600 being the highest (but not by much). When there is no strike that clearly stands out, much harder to predict a pin.
  • kaw01021: $AAPL - 540 or 535. As Flint says...add up the $OI and volume for calls and puts of each strike...just a quick glance says 540 or 535
  • kaw01021: $AAPL - Flint - since you are the pinning action man...what do you think about todays action? I see 600P's at double the $OI than any other strike. What are you thinking? Thanks, @Kyle
  • flint: $AAPL - @Kyle, that would be the obvious strike for the pin. Add the $OI of the puts AND calls at a given strike. The total is what you are looking for as the magnet. Certainly did not work last week, but there were other factors at work (earnings). I'm not trading $AAPL today. gl.
  • flint: $AAPL - @scottto Take a look at the $OI of the 590 calls.

  • MSL: Nat Gas @ @Woody, last evening, last 5 mins of the show #cramer gave his list FWIW: $PPG DOW $OI NUE $AA CMI $GTLS LNG. I think $LNG is the go - to in this group (that said, i've been hating the price action in it recently, each day it gaps way up, then sells off through out the day, 59er principles tell me almost immediately its going to be a down day which is exactly what happens, so the only entry you can take is a buy at eod sell immediately opening bell to get any traction). Also agree with your $CLNE found it interesting #cramer didnt list that cuz I know he loves it, he also loves $WPRT (great buy point #RHRN) and no list on that either.
  • tstrarup: WFT. anyone following? Heavy volume and $OI, seems to be quite oversold. Earnings next Tues.
  • tstrarup: $AAPL flint.sorry I should have put @Kaw01021. we had bought $ISRG on same day last week or so. $OI makes sense but is there way to tell if the increase is bids or asks on example we talked about? I get the rest. Thx
  • flint: $GOOG - Largest open interest on both puts and calls is at 600. If we get an afternoon sell off, 600 is the number. If not, there is way more $OI at 610 then 605, so my bet would be 610.
  • floorwall: $OI - I was just wondering if someone else would take a look at this daily chart....is the a volatility #squeeze and a test and a move higher? I am new to all this chart stuff! Thanks!
  • sgr606: @floorwall, $OI, volatility #squeeze is resolving to downside, closed below 50dma on heavy volume (not good). Today is bouncing off 50dma on decent volume which is good. Could go either way but yes it was in a volatility #squeeze, just with downside resolution.
  • Diana2010: $OI - $OI was in a volatility #squeeze that resolved to the downside. It really was very weak and traded for two days outside of the lower bollinger band. Today, it had a very nice bounce off of the 50 and 200 had moving averages. There is a lot of overhead supply of stock from very regretful buyers at higher prices. I don't know the fundamentals of $OI but the chart does not look promising, IMO.
