  • Jazman0013: Stops hit. I was too tight. $KOLD a winner but the position was small. $HTZ and $PSEC doing decent. What was left in $BOIL is done aside from a placeholder. Damage minimal. Mostly cash… good thing.
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS Three I'll be watching leading into xdiv $NLY 13.73%. 9/29 $PSEC 9.76% 9/27 $NEWT 12.13% 9/19 Held for a very long time. @jan2138 got me into them.
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS $PSEC a nice 2.7% gain this morning and a 9.93% yield
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC ex div today
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS $PSEC divx Friday 8/26/22. This is one of my favorite long term holds. Upper BB current resistance. Watch this before and after divx.
  • JJT1: @grcjr $PSEC #YIELDHOGS Thx for the heads up. I like $PSEC and few others where the single digit price is below the yield and pay monthly...
  • grcjr: @JJT1 $PSEC #YIELDHOGS When I look at these I look at the long term earnings and reliable/consistent dividend payout. Although dated, it is still educational to look at posts by @jan2138 (need to use forum to search way back).
  • Jazman0013: @grcjr $PSEC #YIELDHOGS nice run off the lows this year.
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS $PSEC and others. Many of the hogs move up and down just like "normal" stocks. This week has been great for timing your buys. Something to watch for.
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS $PSEC (followup from yesterday post). Down today. xdiv so no surprise. I'm watching to add.
  • grcjr: #YIELDHOGS $PSEC xdiv tomorrow. Has been on a flat to somewhat down chart. Monthly payouts. I added a nibble early July on a pullback following previous xdiv. I'll be watching for a pullback. next few days.

  • Jazman0013: Second time I had a chance to look at the market today. Yuck. I cut my $PSEC position deep yesterday. I didn’t want to completely axe it but there is no compelling reason to want to keep anything any longer. $AAPL was reduced around 170-175 and as much as it was reduced I do consider that it may have been better to have reduced it far more. Nasty. I wish I could see a catalyst to turn this around. I can’t. I have no confidence in any of the leadership anywhere in the world.
  • bRobert: @Jazman0013 $PSEC $AAPL I got most of my AAPL friends. out. A few hard core lovers of the company are still holding on. Bear flag trigger $110/$100. potential
  • Jazman0013: @Pokersmith In the middle of the move I get kicked out of my account again. I’m becoming extremely frustrated with this. I just cut more exposure including $PSEC until I get this sorted out
  • ag1: @Jazman0013 $PSEC Very frustrating in this type of market. Fidelity months back started removing some data so that it could keep up with the market and I have to refresh periodically. Now for the last couple of weeks it will quit updating and I have to restart. Again not good in this market type of condition.
  • Jazman0013: @ag1 $PSEC no it isn’t. I’ll own every bad move and mistake I ever made or will make. However, not being able to rely on using my account and not trusting the quotes are two things I can’t work around. The last week has been a swift kick in the groin with this situation. Until it resolves I am basically SOL while away from the desk…
  • Jazman0013: Sold partials on $HTZ, $PSEC and added puts on $DIS and $FB
  • Wolf: @cmaxwel1 $NLY $AGNC $ARI $CLM $HRZN $NEWT $NMFC $NRZ $OCSL $OFS $OXSQ $PSEC $TPVG $WHF $BTI $EPD $ET $ETY $HTGC $KMI $LADR $MAIN $MO $SAR #REITs #Yieldhogs $NRZ Raymond Janes raised PT form 13 to 13.50. Up 4%. Goes Ex Div 4/1. Correction $NRZ

  • grcjr: #yieldhog - $PSEC is another one to watch. Goes xdiv 3/28. This is a monthly payer. $8.83 annual yield.
  • Jazman0013: @grcjr $PSEC #yieldhog I have added this back in increments. I wanted to see it stabilize here a bit. $PSEC had become a large portion of the account over time. Large additions down around $5.
  • Jazman0013: Premarket futures look pretty strong. $PSEC reported last night. I had lightened up on this one as the position had become large over time. Do we get follow through? No way to know. Follow plan.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC Prospect Capital (PSEC) came out with quarterly earnings of $0.22 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.19 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.21 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items. This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 15.79%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this business development company would post earnings of $0.18 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.21, delivering a surprise of 16.67%.
  • scottto_2: @Jazman0013 $PSEC - Key is, they'll likely keep their sweet dividend for the foreseeable future.....
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC great move today. $NLY still looking to find a bottom and base. Small position left in $NLY. Not one of the better yield choices I have made.
  • 1winkie: @Jazman0013 $PSEC $NLY $ NLY - JMP Securities cut the stock to Market Perform from Outperform. It has traded in a 52-week range of $7.29 to $9.64 and has an $8.66 consensus target
  • Jazman0013: @wanda1616 $DHR $TSCO $BX $MCD $AGNC $STON #interesting I have too. $PSEC cut yield and got crushed but mostly came back. Another one I liked a lot suspended yield and, can’t recall the ticker now, that was truly brutal. No safe havens. Which is why I sell on the way up now. I also prefer monthly payouts. The one I got nailed on was a quarterly and I was holding out for the next ex-div…
  • Pokersmith: @Jazman0013 $DHR $TSCO $BX $MCD $AGNC $STON $PSEC #interesting I hear ya vis a vis monthly payouts 👍
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC, $NLY looking over some yield holdings and their charts. Prospect goes ex div on 1/26/22 and earnings are on 2/7/22. $NLY earnings 2/8/22. Nothing to do here as last ex div date was 12/30/21. $AAPL earning on 1/27/22. Chart is nasty. Not much l ...
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC I was asked about buying it yesterday and I believe I said small only to start… if you didn’t start yet then I’m sure you are glad you waited. Take a little here? Mmmmmm… better price than yesterday anyway.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC I took a little here
  • mopick: @Jazman0013, you still in $PSEC? Am looking for a good yielder with little drama, if that's at all possible. Thanks, man!
  • Jazman0013: @mopick $PSEC yes, I have held this one for a long time. A better buy point was around $8. If you are to take a position I would go relatively small here and add on dips. There are many other #yieldhogs. At present I own this and $NLY. The big issue with any of the high yield stocks is the ability to cover the dividend. Reductions to yield are hideous to share price. Still, 8-10% for holding it is nice and I prefer the monthlies when I can get them. I added on the way up to here shares I sold when we retreated from the ~$9 highs
  • mopick: @Jazman0013 $PSEC $NLY #yieldhogs, thanks, I'll start small, especially given this market.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC might be a good time to grab some profits on the run up. Pretty steep increase. I picked up a bunch near $7. Can always buy it back. That run beats the monthly payment. Just a thought.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC holding up well. Didn’t sell any yet. Still considering it. Rapid rise from recent drop.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC is a high point in my accounts. Most everything else is red except the decay of short options. I may tighten the leash on these. Yes, my expectation are they go out worthless but when the gains become substantial I’m ringing the register. Too much can flip too fast. I know what happens too often when I’m somewhere else. Very seldom are my surprises pleasant particularly when I’m up…
  • Jazman0013: For a nasty day it isn’t too hideous. $PSEC holding up, $ZIM flat/up. Not too much I want to do here. I’m 75% cash anyway.
  • Jazman0013: @setshot $BOOT $PSEC #yieldhogs $NLY depends on where you put the money in… timing there too. If you bought the top look at the change from where it dropped to. $PSEC was trading around $11 a share at one point and the dividend was higher. Things happened and they cut the yield. It took a long time to come back. There are always, always risks! At least on the high yield if you get a decline without hideous news attached you get a better yield for the money put in.
  • Jazman0013: @setshot they weren’t all $BOOT. Which I wasn’t in. I get the timing issues. Most of the year I had crap internet access and flew blind. By the time I got most alerts and emails it was well after they were sent. Depending on your portfolio you may like some #yieldhogs. $PSEC is one of mine. These can decline too. Add on weakness and collect the monthly payments. I recommend selling these partially as well when you have decent gains. Try and find forum members who trade your time frame. This will help you find stocks that move more or less in a manner that is easier for you to follow. Analyze your trades and see what you did best and where you went wrong. My 2 cents.
  • setshot: @Jazman0013 $BOOT $PSEC #yieldhogs - Thanks for the suggestions and advice. I suppose I could have made 10% by just putting my small stash in NLY. I'm hoping to do better in 2022. I do advise a couple of friends who are conservative and I put them in stocks like NLY. I will consider PSEC at 8.4% for them.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC dividend payment from November finally showed up. Too funny. ‘Why am I up this much’ the tickers didn’t warrant it… late to post to the accounts!
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC dividend not showing up for December in my TD accounts… anyone else see it or wonder where it is?
  • farview: @Jazman0013 $PSEC I am showing an x-date of 12/28 payable on 1/20/22
  • farview: @Jazman0013 $PSEC I received Nov. div on 12/23
  • Jazman0013: @farview $PSEC odd, no dividend payment from November in December in my accounts. I do have some from $ORC of which I believe I sold around the ex div date. Thank you. Perhaps I’ll contact TD
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC, $NLY deal here or better deal coming. Waiting.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC, $NLY, both down again. I had all I could do not to chase and get back in the other day. $DIS and $F also down. Pondering some spread trades on $F. More inclined to wait on the Mouse. $F still working its way lower.
  • Jazman0013: Having a few less positions has made life much easier. Many times when I post I forget the particulars of which I bought or sold where. $ZIM in 3 accounts, $AAPL in 4. $PSEC in all of them. Gets to be a lot to keep track of. Tough on a day where a position is whipping about like $ZIM did. This is why I like the #yieldhogs. ATM stocks that pay regularly are less maintenance. Never mistake them as maintenance free. Autopilot in any holding at your peril… While I have been pondering getting into Crypto I am thinking how nice it is that the normal market hours are set…
  • Jazman0013: Dow up $250, S&P up $21 and Nazz down -$8. I found myself rethinking some of my longest term holdings. $PSEC, $AAPL and some others with substantial gains. Maybe it is time to pare them back a bit. Probably in some cases past time…
  • Jazman0013: $NLY nice move. $PSEC not doing much. Not sure if it is done going down or not. Sold some of both today. Can reload when it makes sense again.
  • Jazman0013: $ORC not participating. Glad I ditched it. Not following $PSEC or $NLY. Be careful with this one.
  • Ajax4Hire: @Jazman0013 $ORC $PSEC $NLY 2nd time burn by $ORC(my Stop-Loss was $4.87) $4.88=16%APR Gonna have to stick to my mantra: Nothing below $10...unless Nothing below $5, no, not, never.(1) $ORC was seductive with its 14%,15%,16% APR dividend. As the price goes down more become like Turbo at end of "Wreck It Ralph", go into the light... https://youtu.be/ClNTCYkZI2s?t=186 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy-h3IP-xKg (1)From: Trading hygiene to keep me clean.
  • Jazman0013: @Ajax4Hire $ORC $PSEC $NLY know the feeling with the low $/extremely high yield plays. That burn is awful.
  • grcjr: #yieldhogs $PSEC not sure if it has completed the normal post xdiv adjustment. Might have bottomed.
  • Jazman0013: @mharps $ORC consider reducing if it doesn’t stabilize. $PSEC came back and rewarded patience but it was a long wait. $ORC came back from a nasty decline as well but consider the rally off the bottom in 2020 which lifted nearly everything. I don’t see that kind of rally here. I don’t like this type of decline even with the yield. I just cut a bunch. I can always buy it back. If it continues to decline another couple % it is gone.
  • joelsg1: @Jazman0013 $ORC $PSEC This happened before, in April, and has never recovered. Not just a dividend decline, as never reclaimed that drop and in fact went lower. No thanks.
  • Jazman0013: @joelsg1 $ORC $PSEC agree the drift in the chart was constant down. This move looks like a break down.
  • Margi1983: @Jazman0013 $ORC $PSEC$ORC I got stopped out at 4.56.. risk management even with #yieldhogs is a necessity
  • Jazman0013: @Margi1983 $ORC $PSEC #yieldhogs I just closed it all out. It would be nice if this were a one day thing but… I doubt it.
  • grcjr: #yieldhog $PSEC - looking to add this morning.
  • grcjr: #yieldhogs $PSEC - as posted yesterday this hog went xdiv today. The stock is down today as should be expected. I will be watching for the ticker to bottom and start to move back up. This could take 3-4 days. Expect the expected.
  • grcjr: @mikethompson #OT - My $PSEC posts did not show for me. A stall somewhere. Thanks for the reply. They came through ... just took more time than normal.
  • grcjr: #yieldhogs $PSEC - this hog goes x-div tomorrow. 8.04% yield. Monthly payout. I missed the big pullback and bigger bounce last xdiv. I'm watching to add over the next 4-5 days. This has more than recovered from the Covid low April 2020. Close to a multi year high.
  • Jazman0013: @grcjr $PSEC #yieldhogs I was thinking about this one today and I’m glad you posted. I am on the fence about reducing exposure here but I like the chart and price action.
  • grcjr: @Jazman0013 $PSEC #yieldhogs 2021 Annual Meeting Friday, December 3, 2021.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC, $NLY and $ORC all down a couple pennies.
  • Pokersmith: @Jazman0013 $PSEC $NLY $ORC see also: $MAIN ( #yieldhawg )
  • Jazman0013: @Pokersmith $PSEC $NLY $ORC $MAIN #yieldhawg thank you. :). I can’t own them all but that one looks good.
  • scottto_2: $PSEC - For any hoggers out there, they reported solid income. Ex-div tomorrow. Probably get at a better price tomorrow and Friday....
  • scottto_2: My short term trading account has some a soon-to-expire $ARKK calls, too cheap to sell at this point. A pile of cash and some dividend stocks for income ($CLM, $PSEC). Waiting for the right moment to engage....
  • scottto_2: #yieldhogs - 2 common ones other than $NLY that you mentioned are $PSEC and $CLM
  • grcjr: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS The drop down is Typical following xdiv. I generally look to see if this is a buy opportunity. I'm adding a nibble ... or two.
  • PRK: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS That's .06 per month.
  • SamWB: $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS I just had an alert trigger for $PSEC which has almost fallen down to the 50 day moving average. This one pays 8.21% a month or 0.06.
  • SamWB: @PRK $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS Whoops, sorry about that. Fixed the original post.
  • SamWB: @grcjr $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS Same, just pointing it out incase anyone else is interested.
  • PRK: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS No problem, but I did very well with this investment, then I got out of it about $1 ago.
  • stairm01: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS That's 8.21% a year, or 0.7% a month.
  • grcjr: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS We generally say the yield per year 8.21%. Div payout $0.06 per month. The dividend payout has been rock solid.
  • grcjr: @SamWB $PSEC #YIELDHOG #YIELDHOGS Posting is good as I'm not online much of the time.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC took profits (maybe too soon) on the way up. Looking to see it stabilize and add back. $NLY, not as well played with profit taking. $TROX sold down and looking to rebuild when the time is right. Doesn’t feel like much is right to buy yet.
  • Jazman0013: $PSEC looks like $NLY. Frustrating cell service is leaving me in a difficult position. Service has been cutting out: mid trade, mid stop, mid post. Can’t load data consistently. Has been this way for a couple weeks with new dead spots in the area. Frustrated.
  • Jazman0013: @southernmum $NLY as above it looks like $PSEC too. May or may not be overdone yet. I will defer to @DAN.
  • SamWB: $PSEC #yieldhog #yieldhogs I have been holding this one for a little while now and been making a steady climb for a few weeks now since earnings. Give it a look if you're into this kind of thing.
  • PRK: @gabriele17 $PSEC I'm interested in seeing responses to this question. If this is in an IRA especially a Roth I would be envious of this situation. I figure that you are receiving about 55 or so shares a month (based on the stock selling at $8) and the dividends being reinvested, and that # of shares will increase slightly each month as the # of shares in your account grow. If you do sell, I would at least keep the shares given to you (through reinvested divys) since you initially made a purchase. I owned $PSEC at about 4.40 and sold it all at about 6.50 and then watched as the stock price went higher. This is just my opinion. Good luck, and congrats on a nice gain.
  • Jazman0013: @gabriele17 $PSEC you can sell some. I generally scale positions. The only way you ever know you are right is after the fact. $PSEC was a large high yield holding that had a rough stretch. Make no mistake regarding the yield and returns. If these companies cut yield they get hit hard. Holding through is ‘something’.
  • gabriele17: @PRK @Jazman0013 $PSEC I never reinvested in $PSEC. Just added as I saw lower prices. Reduction of div's made stock go down, of course. And then there was COVID. Added more then, but should have added more (probably ran out of money). Used di ...
  • gabriele17: @Dan I have almost a 10K gain on one of my dividend funds $PSEC and am getting about $460/mo in dividends. If I sell and take the profit, it would represent about 20 months of dividends. The fund is at an all time high and still going. Would selling be a good idea? And hope I can buy it back when it pulls back? What's your take.
  • Jazman0013: @Henry $NEWT $NLY $AGNC $MAIN $CODI more than a couple yield hogs got hit good. $PSEC is wonderful if you bought somewhere around $5 but has been a nightmare hold for long term holders. Just because they have high yield doesn’t make them invincible... in fact cuts to yield and other issues are very toxic. If they slowly rise or stay stagnant that dividend is a beautiful thing. I have been taking profits on many long term holds like $PSEC and took half off of $NEWT yesterday. Too easy to go from hero to hobo...
  • CaptBryan: $PSEC 9% yield and pays like clockwork. It is falling out of a tight range now and could offer a buying gift soon. Just watching and monitoring for now for opportunity to add some. It could go down quite a bit more at this point.
  • stairm01: @CaptBryan $PSEC Many yield hogs are falling, such as $MAIN, $NRZ, $ABR, except $NEWT gapped up today on yesterday's announcement.
  • grcjr: @stairm01 $PSEC $MAIN $NRZ $ABR $NEWT - yes many. I posted earlier on $MAIN. Also $NLY !!
  • grcjr: @CaptBryan $PSEC - not seeing much to support the move ... except perhaps inflation.
  • Jazman0013: @CaptBryan $PSEC as someone who has held $PSEC for a long time and bought below $5 I would say that the time to buy was optimal on the way up. This isn’t to say that it isn’t pulling back to a buy point possibly. However, it has had a good run from the lows. Respect this and realize it can fall back quite a lot. They all can. Whether you need to experience the retrace is up to you.
  • CaptBryan: @Jazman0013 $PSEC Absolutely, I agree. I trimmed some recently but have had a core position in it for over 10 years. I’m not buying more now, I’ve just moved it up on my watch. I’d sure like to get some under 4 again! Some of the big drops a few years ago weren’t too bad with the monthly dividend.
  • mopick: @grcjr $PSEC $MAIN $NRZ $ABR $NEWT $NLY, hey, thanks for these posts. Have been in $MAIN for a long time. Don't quite understand the downdraft in this today. Several upgrades, as you noted. Another one I have is $PTY, Pimco fund, down huge on gigantic volume. Does go ex-div today but the drop is disturbing to say the least.8.70% yield.
  • grcjr: $PSEC #yieldhogs reports earnings today after the close. Current yield 8.82%. Watching.
