  • champ: @issues $HD - I think the stocks in this sector could move higher because of $HDS earnings today... should help move them along. $FBHS move up today also. I have $LOW because of their earnings beat on 5/18 that was better than $HD. I made a mistake yesterday and held my full position in $HDS thru earnings today...something I never do....I usually sell part before earnings....but I got lucky they beat. If the market helps and keeps moving up all the stocks in this sector should climb higher going into the FOMC Rate Decision on 6/15. I'm also holding $OSB $USG $LPX $MAS $RPM $GLW $LGIH and $KBH in these 2 sectors $ITB and $XHB. I bought my position in $HDS back in March and posted. I post on most all my positions.
  • champ: $ITB and $XHB - Both of these sectors are doing very well today and I have been adding and I also bought back $LGIH this morning....many stocks to choose from...I have positions in $HD $LOW $MAS $LGIH $OSB $USG $LPX $RPM and $GLW. Feeling a lot better about both of these sectors but with caution.
  • woodman: @tejas7 $GCP #SpecialtyChemicals $ALB - another one in this group, boom - out of v/s today (np). $CC - still long this one. $KRA getting it done (np). $FOE flag (np). $IPHS, I thought might be done, but now I think it's got more in the tank. And so forth and so on. Others to look at: $POL $RPM $OLM $PX $SXT $FUL $CHMT $GRA $PPG $ECL$SLC $KOP $SHW. So, have at it. :)
  • woodman: $CC $OLN #SpecialtyChemicals - Actually, here's some fish in addition to CC and OLN: $KRA $POL $OMN $FUL $KOP $PPG $PAH (squeeze) $CBT (setting up sideways into rising 50 day) $RPM $IFF $SXT $GCP $AXTA $FOE $PX
  • antfarm: $RPM I was working on a new post earnings scan in TOS. This was the only ticker that came up. It is climbing the UBB since its low in February and is encroaching on a 2 year high. Has a 2.25% Divi and went ExDiv today. No position just looking.
  • issues: @antfarm $RPM Now that chart is a thing of beauty! It's a picture of dominos stacked end to end. When will it end? Right?
  • champ: $DG & $DLTR back in both and now chasing ...about 10 minutes ago...Spec day trade for now but not going to get carried away. I do have swings working in this homebuilders sector in these stocks....$HD $LOW $MAS $HDS $RPM.
  • champ: $RPM at $46.60 - Specialty Paints, coatings sealants and adhesives....everybody uses their Caulking products for painting. In this red-hot painting sector...This company is a big supplier for $HD and they sold 10% of net sales in 2015 thru $HD. They have sales in all the big box stores and lumber companies....like Ace... they are everywhere. Also Roofing Systems. Has been climbing hard since 2/11 and you can see that on the YTD chart. If you pull up their web site you can see all their product lines. Earnings on 4/6/AM and will probably make an earning run. They will be at the Gabelli and Company 7th Annual Specialty Chemicals Conference tomorrow 3/23 and I expect this stock will bounce even more tomorrow and the stock should be seeing more upgrades after this conference. New swing position this morning...going to hold into earnings.

$RPM --- this is a classic @Dan winner for me. I bought mid 16, high 17 and mid 18's. Full position now and it's amazing how comfortable I feel with setting stops and riding this baby up. No matter what I'm in the green with this one.

    $GSS -- I b ...
  • fstern601: joanie - $RPM - I also bought $RPM around $16.80 in mid-September. I think it was because @Dan Reviewed it then. It has a terrific chart pattern just grinding upward. So unexciting that I actually forgot about it. The boring stocks are the best. This company has been around for a long time appreciating through organic growth and conservative acquisitions. In the past, they gave frequent stock dividends. It is a hold.
  • joanie: $RPM - fstern, I picked it up after @Dan mentioned it too, and I'm VERY happy with the boredom it provides! I'm so happy with it in fact, that I'm um.. finding the boredom exciting and wish I had MORE boring stocks like it! lol
  • joanie: @DAN ... $RPM HPQ earnings Is $RPM doing the same thing $HPQ did last quarter? $RPM popped, and now has dropped, but it beat estimates, it raised guidance and its revenues were up over all. Deja vu all over again?
  • DAN: Hi Joanie. $HPQ and $RPM have both been trending higher But $HPQ gapped down after announcing earnings were released, while $RPM is falling. I think it's a classic "gap and fall", but here is where it gets interesting. While is was right to short/sell the stock into good news to capitalize on all the "ignore the rumor, buy the news" folks, I doube $RPM is done going up. Can't really say whether it'll fall further, but you've got two levels of potential support lining up: Prior resistance in the mid-$16's, and a rising 50-day moving average.
  • joanie: $RPM - HPQ. Oh that's right. I had forgotten that $HPQ gapped down which stops the comparison right there. I held it all through earnings. Thanks.
  • richard9f: $RPM Not a fast mover, but the chart looks interesting, They make Rust-Oleum and other specialty specialty paints, protective coatings, roofing systems, sealants and adhesives.
  • joanie: $HW - Dunsek, I had originally bought some $HW after @Dan mentioned it in the forum, but when I saw it wasn't moving/going down while $RPM (also mentioned) seemed more stable and moving up, I switched to RPM. You might want to look at $RPM now, because it's at the 50 ema right now.
  • dunsek: HW/RPM- long both, actually.I got $RPM at 17.02, so doing much better with it than HW!
  • dennis: JOYG is up and in a nice candle formation but look at $RPM which is under $20 and looking just as good. 15 minute 13/34 cross just happened and confirmed buy signal. I'm in. 1/4 position.
  • phxpeh: $RPM - theymake DAP and Rustoleum! I've been nibbling, 4.7% yield to boot...
  • dennis: @Kevin I listened to @Dan about not buying breakouts. Then again there is $NWL breaking out and $RPM and and. The problem is that these are so far from the 50 day support and in some cases from any support you can draw that its still prudent to pick wisely and place your stops. I bought $AMD yesterday morning and the breakout worked. Today its pulled back and the rule of thumb is to buy more since its over my entry. Not all break outs work in general but some still work even now. Thing is to be out quickly if you make a decent profit and out quicker if you picked wrong.
  • Gambler: $NWL, $COP, $NBR, $EBAY, $RPM, $SLB, $NOV, $SPN, $CNX, $DOW, $WFT, MEE Looking for stocks that have broken out in the last 8 days, then pulled back and found support. My "short list" at the top of this post (although a day late on some).
  • orthodoc: What sectors you like most? chips, railroads, shipping, steel, coal, retail, construction ? I've added this morning as well: BW, $FSYS, JOYG,RMBS,$TSO, $STR, $TIE, $X and $TSM, $TRN, $HIL, $FCX, $KOL, $SXL are running as well. LOTS of work adjusting stops, adding, etc. Buy stop orders in for $SWC and $RPM
  • bhenry001: Just watched a @Jim Jubak video and he talked about Obama's infra money. According to him, there is very little money for companies like $CAT, $RPM, and MDR. He said the infra plays are in Internet to rural areas, wind power, and beefing up the National Power Grid. So I am going to put $BGC, $PWR, $TRN, and $CSCO on my watch list. @Bruce
  • franknzupan: Looks like Shaw Group (SGR) and one of its competitors both got upgrades this week (URS). Shaw had a 13.64% upside surprise while $RPM had a -5.71% downside surprise. $URS reports earnings on 26FEB. I don't own any of these stocks at the moment. I only have $CAT and $MDR so far for true construction/infra plays. Ooops, forgot to mention, for those who might have missed it, Eagle Materials also was upgraded and $MLM downgraded. Today I am watching $RPM (from @Dan's infrastructure list). It is holding up relatively well in this sell-off, despite being up quite a bit over the past five sessions or so. Anyway, it's holding just above it's 50dma and has room above to the 200dm ...

  • Russ: Tomorrow is Friday, not esp a day to start a trade. But here are fifteen setups I'm looking at. $DSX, $VLO, $STLD, $SLW (and/or some gold), $AMGN, $RPM, $PNRA, $CVA, RNT, $DLTR, ELMG, $FLR, $CBST, FDP. Each of these offers a pretty defined stop and limited risk. I'll probably winnow the list down to five, watch those, but do nothing until next week. Russ
  • orthodoc: I picked up $CX and $CRH about 9 or 10 days ago. Also, thinking about $BOOM at 16.2. @Niche welding company. My list of infrastructure: $ACM, $ASTE, $BOOM, BUCY, $CAT, $CRH, $CX, $ENG, $EXP, $FLR, $FWLT, $GVA, $HIL, $JEC, JOYG, $LAYN, $MWA, $PWR, $RPM, SGR, $STRL, $TITN, $URS, $VMC Thanks @Dan for helping with these, Watching $RPM, $BOOM, $MWA closely. Have scaled into(and taken some profits) in $ACM, $CRH, $CX, $FLR, $VMC, SGR, and PWR. What do you guys think about water and utilities? Specifically, @Dan do you follow CWT--California water? I'm looking at E as well
