Weddings are way up now that folks are craving permanence and the celebrations that had to be posponed. which is very good for Signet jewelers as is the recent trend towards men wearing more jewelery. BUT childbirths are down. So, looking int to the future in terms of economic trends, thst's what i see.

- debeers: $SIG@Wykeman- FYI here's what was projected andhere's what happened: Signet Jewelers (NYSE:SIG) updated its FY23 earnings guidance . The company provided EPS guidance of $12.28-$13.00 for the period, compared to the consensus estimate of $10.52. The company also issued revenue guidance of $8.03-$8.25 billionillion, compared to the consensus estimate of $7.89 billionillion. That was the why of the buy.
- debeers: $ARCB vs. $JBHT it may well be that $JBHT is a great company but my money is on $ARCB which, after a few hours of homework last night i justified this way: The analysts earnings estimates are up over 4%. And this is on soaring fuel which $ARCB ALWAYS passes through to the consumer. The company did over 163% last year-that's not a fluke, that is the leadershipo you get when you put money in to ee training and the communities you serve. How many employers this year will have at least 25% growth? Not many. If i average over 5 years, i still get a return of 37.75%. A bet is one thing but today, as with $SIG, i put my money where my mouth iss. LONG

- debeers: $SIG-thanks @champ for being right. i honestly said that i wouldn't have had the nerve to buy at the higher price than i did but Ginny came through and weddings are back bigtime. For some people Vday is a salute to Veterans--for Ginny it means Valentines and how very very smart to be able to have men and women be able to try on jewelery through virtual tryons. i have also noticed that more men than i woujld have thought are decking themselves out. - champ: @debeers $SIG --- Thanks...and remember that they own 2,800 Jewelry Stores, plus they also have many famous name brand Retail-Chains, you might only know about Zales and Key Jewelers .... however they own many other brand-names of Jewelry stores....and just because they own Jewelry stores, they sell 1,000's of different Jewelry products....so there is a lot more going on besides wedding-rings..... .....because they sell all kinds of rings....even Nose-rings and many other types of Jewelry Products,...even high end Watches. LOL

He knew when i read this today on top of the small order from China yesterday that i had to buy some: Air Transport Services Group places second order with Boeing for the conversion of four 767-300 aircraft 03/14/2022 Co announces that its leasing subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management has placed a second order with Boeing (BA) for the conversion of four CAM-owned 767-300 aircraft into Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF), with an option for four additional conversions beyond that. The conversions are slated to begin in late 2023. i admit it: i was sneaky---i absolutely poured the cappucinos down his throat and then blam! he went to the bathroom and i snuck out and bought some. If the report on $SIG is ok tomorrow--i have some retail in the wings.

- debeers: Regarding the generals: if we believe in levels and we do--not one of the generals is above the 200 day moving average-NOT ONE why be in them now? Why not wait until the schmeiss is over instead of predicting? By the way, regarding @champ$SIG which has an excellent earnings history. i think there are 2 caveats here: 1. There is a 12.9% short interest in the stock and, 2. Though there is 95% insti involvement in it, it may well be that it will be the outlook rather than the actual report that tanks the stock. There are few purchases more discretionary than diamond jewelery. If we see an economic slowdown, my contention is that necessities and bargains should predominate. 3.Bottom line is that IMO we need more blood in the street.

- debeers: $SIG-if there is one strong season for gifting it is the Christmas quarter. Not a doubt in my mind that they make the Q. The price of diamonds is up 28% on demand and scarcity. Additionally there is the emotional lure of jewelery that can, with their computer assistance, be purchased from home so you can virtually see how it looks on you with no in store presence. Again, my concern is the outlook and the Q & A following the report of results. i'd love to see $SIG succeed as it has done everything right---- and they have wonderful holidays throughout the year to count on--Mothers Day, Valentines Day, a real gift to the industry My concern is whether or not their outlook is positive because they do not have the kind of resources the highest end of the luxe market has.
- snowbound: @debeers $SIG This has a Death Cross 200 > 50SMA on the DAILY and it hasn't broken the Downward Sloping Resistance line in face of the precipitous 5 (WEEK) drop and in spite of today's strength .... ( greetings ) . ~ 77.40 DSR / 50SMA DAILY 80.37 puts them figuratively right on top of one another . The SHORTS could also come out on a failure at that level especially in this red tape .

- debeers: $BOOT-My chart guru tells me that rising and horizontal suppoprt (ok- i bet you know who that is!) is at 108-109 and now its at 112 and reports in 5 trading days. NO MISSES- that would be zero. i will be long through and you should do what feels right to you. i point out that while the overall lower retailsales hit $SIG-Signet doesn't report until 3/17. so i'll buy it right back and as good as $SIG is, the earnings record is not quite that of $BOOT.
