  • cheryl: @PhilHarmonic $TEF I appreciate your comments. I recently read on Bloomberg, that next year is expected to mark an inflection point for the European telecom industry, with revenue growth anticipated for the first time since 2009, based on consensus. Operators’ cash flow will get a boost from continued operating-cost cuts and a lower capital spending requirement due to 4G progress and fewer spectrum auctions. Doesn't seem to have much downside. And, with a 9% divi , the stock seemed to me to be a bargain.
  • cheryl: $TEF Is anyone looking at this? 9% dividend. Up Friday 4.34% on high volume. Looks like a relatively safe play with a tight stop.
  • PhilHarmonic: @cheryl $TEF Telecommunication Services is one of the poorest performing industries. I wonder what attracts you to this stock as the chart is not as impressive as other stocks mentioned in the Strategy Sessions. Analyst recommendations are not impressive. Seems that there are much better stocks to take a chance on.

  • Henry: MICC @ferdog was asking about holding MICC. It is in a downtrend since it's highs and is challenging both the 200 ema and the uptrend since it it last hit the 200 ema. The 200 ema has changed from upwards to sideways and the 50 dma is headed down. I suppose the price action is related to the European debt crisis because it sure doesn't look like a US telecom. I think it's a candidate for a bounce but it's linked to the Euro more than it's own business or even it's own chart, i.e. event risk is in control. Look at $TEF a similar story. @Henry no position

  • jojo1480: STRA- junior, don't like go naked on very volatile stocks. I use naked puts if i want to go long a stock ie $TEF when it was trading around 64 i sold the oct 60 and got paid 4-5 bucks, i would been very happy to have owned it at 59-60, $TEF has a annualized div of 4.91 yld 6.6%, if i get put the stock great if not i make money selling the put. Since the stock is now at 70, the premiums are gone. I have been trading #options since i was a grad @student at U.C Berkeley in the 80's, Go Bears (football team).

The 1st day of the month- mutual fund day, lots of fund mgrs putting new cash to work. sto $TEF dec65 puts, collected the $3.90, i don't mind owning it around 60, nice div annualized 4.91 ylds 7.04%.
