  • Docoof: @woodman $CAT $TEX $REV $WNC $DE $PCAR $OSK $AGCO $CNHI If you have time and you think it’s worthwhile, can you share your opinion on $LNN’s chart? Lindsay Corp is a small-cap company in the Industrials sector and the Machinery industry. Lindsay Corp. engages in the manufacture and distribution of irrigation and infrastructure equipment and technology.
  • woodman: @Docoof $CAT $TEX $REV $WNC $DE $PCAR $OSK $AGCO $CNHI $LNN - I didn't include LNN primarily because I thought it has pretty light average volume. That said, from a shares traded times price point standpoint, it isn't bad. With an average volume of about 60K shares at $169/share, it has total daily dollars same as 600K shares traded at $16.90. That's not bad. In any event, it's a little messy of a chart to me but it certainly has been on the rise and folks could well be making money with it. I just saw things that are more appealing to me. You can't own 'em all.
  • Docoof: @woodman $CAT $TEX $REV $WNC $DE $PCAR $OSK $AGCO $CNHI $LNN Understood and helpful. I don’t own it, but I always seem to learn something when you express your way of looking at a stock/chart. Thanks, woodman.

  • bybyjanice: OFF TOPIC: We in California are experiencing a drought. On Tuesday our local city council implemented stringent water conservation measures. I saw this coming years ago and replaced our lawn and put in a drip system for the drought tolerant landscape we planted. Does anyone know a play that will go with this trend? $LNN is a company that sell irrigation systems, but it caters to agriculture. Thanks
  • Tim S: Notable earnings before Thursday's open $LNN, $IGTE, VAC
  • bybyjanice: MON: This is making a run before earnings. I expect that it will probably sell off after it reports next week just like $LNN has today. Although I don't know what information is being offered at the $LNN CC, the preliminary reports have everything an investor would want, a beat by $.21; backlog, etc., everything except volumeand a southward direction.
  • ginny: $LNN @bybyjanice. 2 blocks from a river? Just wait until you get your flood insurance bill. Ours went up 17%. Living on a canal to the sound ;-(
  • bybyjanice: LNN: Last post on this one. When they reported on 10/17/12, again with a favorable quarter, they sold off much like today. Next day they opened at 73.16 and flew to 77.46. For ag, $MON is better, it is more liquid and option spreads are not not a million @miles apart. Having said this, I spent time out in the orchards of Sutter County yesterday and there are still many that do not have the waterwise irrigation systems that $LNN has to offer. As the Delta plan here in $CA is finalized, upgrading will be a must.
  • Sparksjim: $LNN And how does $VMI compare to LNN??
  • bybyjanice: LNN: Wow what a ride, from 93.50 to 84.51, now trading at 90.04. I was not able to add at the bottom, but got pretty close. I went on yahoo finance and found the familiar name, Howard Buffet, as one of the major shareholders. Also, I made a mistake in considering $LNN a water infrastructure play for municipalities, I believe their water treatment systems caters to ag. They do have products available for transportation infrastructure (ie. like guard rails). I found the transcript for those interested. http://seekingalpha.com/article/1304881-lindsay-management-discusses-q2-2013-results-earnings-call-transcript?source=yahoo
  • bybyjanice: MON@jorma: Given the way the market is trading #RHRN you probably will get a pullback, but I am not sure it will be that far on this stock, especially if their quarter is as strong as the last one. $DD is another stock that will benefit off any good news from $MON and $LNN (LNN reports tomorrow). I think with litigation behind $DD, it will be bought up, especially by those seeking a good #dividend. $DD is almost at the 50dma.
  • Zatodeb: $VMI stronger than death since last June. Irrigation equipment has taken off since last year's drought. Just made an Australian acquisition to move into Asian market. $LNN also vg but $VMI is stronger technically right now. $Z
  • bybyjanice: USG@jdaniels: Thanks. I hope there are no surprises with $USG when they report this quarter. I tried another option trade with $LNN 11/17 out of the money calls@75.00 I bought on the 24th. I think the squirrel just found another nut. FYI I have $CX too, but I just hold this one as well as MWA. You're IP is looking good and $XCO is very impressive. $XCO is about to punch through the 50dma on the weekly. Yipee!
  • bybyjanice: HLF: Thank you @Henry and @MultiMill for your input. @Henry, thank you for the $LNN idea. I do believe this will do well along with MON. The sentiment is that we have already lost the corn crop, but there is still time for the soybeans. @Dennis Gartman today reinterated this sentiment today on the Halftime report.
  • bybyjanice: $MON, $LNN, DE: Insurance will cover farmers loss. Some will even make more losing rather than harvesting if grain prices continue to rise. We grew almonds for awhile, but have sold orchard. • ronald73072: QE-2 - I am on the side lines since May 1st, still day trading or holding less than 2 days. I am in the Ag/Industrial industry and we are approaching a soft spot in orders. Our backlog is down 20% since the 1st of the year. This is not serious but tells me that companies like $DE, $CAT, $CNH, $LNN, $AGCO are slowing slightly. Good news around earnings is done for several months. Sell in May theory weighs on some. QE-2 ending in June. I just do not see the catalyst that is going to push the market higher. Because of the amount of cash on the sidelines I just don't see a deep retreat but a 10%-15% pull back would not be unreasonable.

  • dtoce: $PPO LNN Two on my list to buy are these 2 stocks. $PPO has been a 'winner's circle' stock for the entire 2010 year after breaking out of a volatility sqeeze on the weekly chart in Feb. It is now at support-between the 8 day EMA and 50 day SMA as indicated by the 3 month/daily chart. I like this with defined risk-recent low outside the lower BB at 31.26 offers a stop ~31.20. I'll be taking a small position and adding to it behaves well... $LNN was a channelling stock until August 2010 when it broke out on the weekly with a big expansion. It is now 'resting' and consolidating at the 8 Day EMA and the 20 day SMA. Again offering a clear definition of risk. The 'I'm wrong' line would be a break below 57.50 (below recent low over the past 6 days of 57.60). Something to consider...

It WAS at 64.50 and looking to move up towards the close but now it's down around 64.40. Up again as I write this....who knows next? • vitaly077: $LNN - @DAN - $PEG is at 1.89 and P/S is 2.09. I really do not pay that much attention to these but still. My question is, why do you consider these rations as cheap? BTW - $MDT take a look. mentioned it yesterday.
  • vitaly077: $LNN - @DAN - I wanted to know why you rationed that the stock is "a good value" compared to earnings growth. Did not mean to offend you. I am not even sure if that reply was to me but I just wanted to know what matrix you used to determine that value. I may have just misunderstood your comments on LNN
  • hcanfly44: $LNN - Wow, irrigation systems are obviously selling well. You couldn't have mentioned this last month? :-)
  • DAN: Thoughts: I think $AAPL has lost its mojo for the remainder of the day. It is "heavy"... Not where I want to be. Also, $LNN is pulling back and could fall a bit further. On a day when the tape is really, really lousy (Dow down 162; S&P down 17, and NDX down 40!!), it is of utmost importance to protect your capital! Do not ride stocks down, please. Remember...you can always buy them back. The problem is that you cannot always sell them at the price when you first started thinking, "Um...maybe I should sell." Again...You can always buy th em back!!! It's not what you own that matters; it's where you own it from! @Dan

  • captbryan: LNN... I started a 100 share starter position this morning and it is up nicely in a mostly down day. IMHO ,$LNN lags the sector and should participate in the ag and machinery strength. I will add more if it closes over the 50 ema. It also has had a couple of upgrades recently.
  • thurford: $LNN CNH $DE @captbryan, I took positions in $CNH & $DE but couldn't convince myself on LNN. Having hard time keeping from day trading positions. Helps to check 2 yr. time frame on both to see where they fell from. No guarantee they will return but should get closer. Being an @ole farm boy from the midwest, I can relate to the industry. IMHO. @Terry
  • jmcgee66: $LNN Really has turned into a dog falling well below all support. Kind of odd the industry is doing well, but this one stinks as of late. Just wondering if this could be good for a short term trade with a stop under $32. Rising tide looks like it sank this boat. Any news? My take is this would be a good 59 min trade in the am, (guessing as I didn't have the good fortune of attending) but given the time of day, I wouldn't want to be stuck holding this pig overnight. Focusing my attention in trying to pick up $COP a little cheaper.
  • ronaldrussell: $LNN - $VMI reported today irrigation revenue down 50%. I am in the Ag industry and there is NO recovery in Ag in 2009. I even question the fertilizer stocks. India contracted potash @ $460, which is 50% off the highs, China wants contract closer to $410. We should know by year end. Bottom line is that US farmers input costs have not dropped proportionatly with commodity price reductions from 2008 highs. I spoke with farmer last week who farms 5,000 ac in N. Texas and will not be adding fertilizer for this winter wheat crop. Just cannot afford this regardless of yield. Farmers need favorable weather & crop prices next season or many will fold operations. Because of fixed costs most must plant but are cutting input costs wherever they can.
  • ronaldrussell: $LNN - Revenues are primarily generated from irrigation industry not Infrastructure. prox 75% is irragation which is down dramatically and I do not see this coming back in 2010. $VMI is 80% Infrastructure and 20% irrigation. I am in the tire industry and sell irrigation tires & wheels to both these companies. Do not bet on irrigation revenues improving any time soon.

  • Lou: $LNN -- Good morning all. (Revised below) Any opinions on this one? Seems to be in an incomplete @ZIG and acting well. I'm trying to decide between closing out profitable short 45 puts, rolling them out or taking in the shares. I like the name and want infrastructure in my long portfolio. Any comments? edit -- answered my own question -- doesn't seem to be enough liquidity in the longer puts to roll out. These are some of the "@Dan" tickers that popped up as potentially constructive. @Dan reminds us not to lose track of charts just because we haven't mentioned them in a while. • jmcgee66: $LNN Not far from the 50 day, $39.22 and stochastics appear to be turning. Could be a good entry. Feedback? Looks like a falling knife since 8/26. Debating either wait to prove it closes in the green or just take a flier with a tight stop just under the 50 day.

Sold all but 1/5 - bought at highest price - and am waiting to sell that...Gold will rise and fall, and I will be there to catch it. I watch $LNN, $BXP, AEM. No, this doesn't make me money daily, but I am satisfied with this, since previously I held too many stocks and was buying on impulse without much research. Learning both $TA and fundies now...to get the broader picture. Learning where to do my research. It feels great to simplify and be mostly in cash. Martha
  • Dan: Trading Note: $RAH (the discount private label food company) and $LNN are both hanging in pretty tough over the past couple of days. Away from Wall Street, this is the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. The California Legislature is just now figuring out that it's a bad idea to allow train operators to use their cell phones while driving a multi-ton locomotive. Next thing you know, they'll decide that metro bus drivers can't watch movies while driving. The horror.
  • aptgods: Not to be fixated on $LNN --- BUT...just read that the CEO, R. Parod sold 90K shares about 7 days ago...could that be a sell signal???? No other info i can find except decline in stock...
