$GMED -- looks a lot like VITL. This move started on a pop from a volatility squeeze last week on January 8th. Definitely stick with this.

- StockMarketMentor: Adding Globus Medical ($GMED) to the ATI List. Basis 86.30 Suggested Stop 81.29 $GMED has been in my On Deck list for a while, which I have been covering in recent videos. It broke out today on 31% higher than average volume. The better/ideal entry was at about $85.00 when it surpassed the 12/27/24 high. But you can see how the Bollinger Bands are expanding out of a squeeze condition (Band Width is just a bit more than 3%). The all-time high for GMED is 87.22 on December 2nd. So this stock has room to run. --Dan

- issues: @champ $VLO I just can't pul the trigger on VLO. I just don't like this chart. I can see it turning down and if it turns down I would be sorry I bought it. VLO is under the 20 day and the 20 day is turning down. This may just be a hick up - a one day wonder. I did buy starter positions in $MPC $HFC $VNOM $GMED
- champ: @issues $VLO $MPC $HFC $VNOM $GMED ---- I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on any new position....at this market level... $DJI, I posted on $HFC because I'm holding a position...I have NP in $VLO but I wish I did.
- champ: @issues $VLO $MPC $HFC $VNOM $GMED ---- Not every position is long term and maybe in this market, positions should be short term or until they turn, off the high. Entries are very important...just saying and it is hard to feel comfortable in the markets, at this level and if your in the markets, you should be cautious, very cautious.
- tcardoso: $GMED $GMED I'm new to trading and wonder if this is a tradeable squeeze? Also, and don't know if this can be made public or not, but what formulas do you guys use in TC2000 to look for volatility squeezes?
- issues: @tcardoso $GMED Dan said it's a buy (with a stop of course!) only if it stays above $55.20 ON VOLUME. That would make it a BO not a fake out! It has a great chance of doing that in the morning. I like the volume on Fri but this is the 3rd, 4th no! make that the 5th try. Like trying to start an old Model T Ford - just keep cranking it!
- bRobert: @issues $GMED The breakout on volume doesn't guarantee that it won't be a "fake out". or fail Only a pullback/bounce that remains outside the channel or obviously a continuous breakaway sprint move can give that assurance.
- traderbren: $GMED - nice pop off the 50d. NP but my alert triggered this morning. If it can clear $55, it could move to prior high.
-
rachel: ...
$GMED – Alert at $55.20. Still resting. But the “breakout” was on very heavy volume. Has a lot of potential and should be on your watch list for a move higher.

$EXPD – alert at $76.
$PTSI – Thin! Very thin. But support at $55. Because of the illiquidity, this is high risk. But earn ... - woodman: $GMED - getting hit on some analyst's downgrade. (Analysts, ugh.) On May 3, it fell more than 6% below the 50 day, then bounced back the next day, found its sea legs in the following days, and then went on a 22% run higher from the bottom of that dip. No idea if history repeats here. Not pretty at the moment, however. I sold this morning and will watch to see what it does next.
- fishing777: @woodman $GMED ...I hear you...I bought a position yesterday after the nice bounce off the 50ma and got stopped out at the open.
- woodman: #MedicalDevices or other medical related (but note that volume is low for some of these): $HAE moving sideways into rising 50 day, usually a good set up for a stock in a nice uptrend. $ISRG similar to HAE., here bouncing in closer proximity to the rising 50 day which coincides with old horizontal resistance (perhaps new new support). $GMED on the 50 day, which also is prior horizontal resistance. Not a great bounce and volume is light, but may be done pulling back. $PEN could be a good pickup here with a stop somewhere below yesterday's intraday low. Volume isn't bad (using 50d avg. vol.). $TRXC still going.. $ABMD - may be done pulling back.
- woodman: $GMED - pulling back to the 50 day. Still a little way to go. On my list to add to when it seems ripe.
- woodman: More #MedicalDevices - $ALGN $GMED $DXCM $EW $HAE $TNDM $ACRX $LIVN $NVTR $CRY $IRMD $AXGN $TCMD $INGN $OFIX $CNMD $IART $PEN $POD $XENT $INSP $SYK (big pull back, may be opportunity)
- mopick: @woodman $ALGN $GMED $DXCM $EW $HAE $TNDM $ACRX $LIVN $NVTR $CRY $IRMD $AXGN $TCMD $INGN $OFIX $CNMD $IART $PEN $POD $XENT $INSP $SYK #MedicalDevices , I like the etf, $IHI, which incorporates many of these same names without the individual stock risk. Great chart, up almost 20% YTD.
- riskmanager: @woodman $ALGN $GMED $DXCM $EW $TNDM $ACRX $LIVN $NVTR $CRY $IRMD $AXGN $TCMD $INGN $OFIX $CNMD $IART $PEN $POD $XENT $INSP $SYK #MedicalDevices That pullback in ALGN to 334 the other day was a missed opportunity. Should have pounced on that.
- woodman: @mopick $ALGN $GMED $DXCM $EW $HAE $TNDM $ACRX $LIVN $NVTR $CRY $IRMD $AXGN $TCMD $INGN $OFIX $CNMD $IART $PEN $POD $XENT $INSP $SYK $IHI #MedicalDevices Nothing wrong with 20%, for sure. And that would be a safe route to go. But many of these stocks have such great long term charts that if you can get one or a few at a good spot, or take a plunge higher than you like but with the idea of adding on a pullback, then you could greatly outperform IHI. If these were biotechs, with huge risk in any individual stock (and all small/mid sized biotechs have a lot of risk), I'd be more inclined to buy the index. JMHO.
- spmeyers: @woodman $ALGN $GMED $DXCM $EW $HAE $TNDM $ACRX $LIVN $NVTR $CRY $IRMD $AXGN $TCMD $INGN $OFIX $CNMD $IART $PEN $POD $XENT $INSP $SYK #MedicalDevices thanks; this group is rockin' big time
- woodman: @CHOFF $CRSP $EDIT $NTLA #CRSPR - days like today make me wonder, yet again, why I just don't just stick with #MedicalDevices and avoid biotechs. Look at the monthly charts of, e.g., $ABMD (long) $ALGN (np) $ISRG (long) $GMED (long) $EW (np) and others.
- CHOFF: @woodman $CRSP $EDIT $NTLA $ABMD $ALGN $ISRG $GMED $EW #CRSPR #MedicalDevices It definitely feels safer doesn't it? Big winners...I can think of a couple more like $HAE and $DXCM too. Maybe with all those winners, perhaps the pendulem is due to swing back over to Biotech at some point?
- woodman: @CHOFF $CRSP $EDIT $NTLA $ABMD $ALGN $ISRG $GMED $EW $HAE $DXCM #CRSPR #MedicalDevices - risks/pitfalls for #Biotech is significantly greater than for medical devices.
- CHOFF: @woodman $CRSP $EDIT $NTLA $ABMD $ALGN $ISRG $GMED $EW $HAE $DXCM #CRSPR #MedicalDevices #Biotech Indeed and the risk is looking much less justified these days.
- woodman: $GMED continuing up.
- woodman: #MedicalDevices such as $GMED (long) $ALGN (np) and even $ABMD (long) have been in a pattern where once they got going, they kept going. GMED and ALGN are in that place now; ABMD has been in that place for a long time, though slowing up and flattening a bit now. Another that I'm looking at here is $ISRG (one I've just been holding for a while). It has not "gotten going" ... yet. But its BBs are starting to squeeze at an old resistance/new support point. It may have some more work to do, but I think it has potential.
- debeers: @woodman $GMED $ALGN $ABMD $ISRG #MedicalDevices $BA-this was a difficult one to stick with but I did and I'm more convinced than ever that the more the "pros" and the "smart money" tries to talk down the market, the more the blips should be bought and the greater the chances for success.R U still in?
- woodman: @debeers $GMED $ALGN $ABMD $ISRG $BA #MedicalDevices - Yes, I'm still in $BA. I last added to mine on 5/18 as it moved up through resistance out of that muck it had been in.
- woodman: $GMED continuing up out of consolidation.
- woodman: $GMED $ALGN - a couple medical device stocks that are working. Long GMED. Np ALGN.
- woodman: $GMED trying to move out of sideways consolidation into and around the 50 day.
- woodman: $GMED continues to work. Earnings 5/2 amc.
- woodman: $GMED - On the rise. Uptrend intact.
- woodman: $GMED has been a steady riser, if bought in the right spots.
- woodman: $HUBS $SPLK $NFLX $GMED $SQ $NKTR $XBI $MU (MU - with stop below Friday's intraday low). - If "brave" enough to trust this Market, here are a few that look in decent, or potentially decent, spots.
- spmeyers: @woodman $HUBS $SPLK $NFLX $GMED $SQ $NKTR $XBI $MU I think I'll watch and see what happens when the "brave" guys jump out of the foxhole! :)
- woodman: @spmeyers $HUBS $SPLK $NFLX $GMED $SQ $NKTR $XBI $MU :-)
- woodman: @gwenzee $ABMD - okay, bump that to $300. :-) I trimmed a large position in $ABMD, mostly in February, but some before that, to re-balance my med device stocks along the way, having put money into $ALGN and $ISRG when folks seemed to sour on those. They had some decent dips that I used to build up those positions. They are working well enough. Those are the 3 medical device stocks I own, all in about equal $$ amounts now. $GMED would have been a nice 4th one. Woulda shoulda.
- captron: @woodman $ABMD $ALGN $ISRG $GMED Have been waiting for the pull back to the 21 sma on $GMED for entry.
- woodman: $GMED nice weekly chart.
- debeers: $WTW/$GMED-2 for you to consider today 1. We have officially entered the season of profound regret. I lost track after seeing over 40 commercials on various channels in the last week. Apparently they are tapping into our guilt big time. I know that after pumpkin pie, clams and linguini and other yummies, mine did. 2. $GMED-nailed it!! Here's the headline for which i was waiting.: Globus Medical Receives FDA 510(k) Clearance for AUTOBAHN Nailing System 7:06am 1/02/2018 Yup finally got the FDA approval for its spinal surgery minimally invasive device. Zimmer et al would be wise to acquire it but it gets to 48.50 all on its own. Athletes carted off the field need this stuff as well as folks of a certain age to whom the term "minimally invasive" is an automatic attraction.
- cmaxwel1: $XLF added more at 27.80, Initial positons in $WUBA, $GMED, $XME, $SPY
- woodman: $GMED - I unwisely lost track of this one.
- woodman: $GMED appears to be on the mend. Needs to get through some resistance around here.
- issues: I sold these: $MXL $VLO $GMED $IPHI and bought these $AZN $PRAH $ABBV. Have a great weekend!
- woodman: $GMED moving up off 50 day. Weekly looks like resuming uptrend. Earnings 8/2 amc. I'm still long this one.
- woodman: @bRobert $ALGN $BEAT $EW $SYK $MDT - $GMED too which has been consolidating after a pullback to the 50 day, still in a long term up trend. Looking frisky today.
- woodman: $GMED in a good spot.
- woodman: #MedicalDevices - I've been a fan of these for a while now. $GMED is where $SYK just was before $SYK popped today (i.e. moving along the 50d). $ABMD and $MDXG are similarly situated. (ABMD is already moving off the 50d.)
- arrow: @woodman $GMED $SYK $ABMD $MDXG #MedicalDevices $NVRO another name in this space, moving up after a little consolidation (following positive pre-announcement spike).
- woodman: $MDXG $GMED $VEEV $SYK - in interesting spots.
- woodman: @issues $ABMD - I'm being stingy. I want it under the 34dEMA or even closer to the 50dSMA. I already have $GMED and $SYK in the medical device area, so I don't have to have it. But I could change my mind....
- woodman: @Aragorn $MDXG - nice aragorn. I was looking at it earlier today and I'm interested. Also look at $ABMD here. $GMED continues to rock in the medical device space as well.
- Aragorn: @woodman $MDXG $ABMD $GMED GMED chart looks the best but MDXG and ABMD have minor resistance at the 8ema
- woodman: $GMED continues to roll.
- woodman: @Henry $SYK $ZBH - I'm still holding $SYK and $GMED in the medical devices. I'm looking at a couple others as potential pick ups but they aren't ripe yet.
- woodman: @bRobert $bsx $ew $mdt $masi $beat - $GMED and $ABMD a couple nice climbers in the sector as well.
- woodman: @issues $GMED $ABMD $EW $SYK $MZOR - very kind of you to say. You're welcome.
- issues: Bridget if you liked $BCRX yesterday when it was over $7 you probably really like it today down 17%. The stocks under $20 are much more volatile than those over $20. Of course there are exceptions but generally it's safer to buy after a stock has proven itself. NP But we appreciate your suggestions Bridget! Thanks for all you do for us "home gamers." Thank you Woodie for your recommendations. I finally bought a starter in $MZOR! Hurray. Haven't been convinced to pull the trigger on $GMED since it can't break above the 20 day.
- woodman: $GMED resuming its uptrend.
- issues: @woodman $GMED Thank you Woodie! We bought our starter pack. It's in a good group- IBD group 20, along with $ABMD $EW.
- woodman: @issues $GMED $ABMD $EW $GMED - In the same space (medical devices) have you looked at $SYK? I mentioned it a few times around the 50 day and picked it up at 134.79. It's too extended now for my taste in terms of buying it now, but it's another one worth keeping on the radar. I remain long $MZOR as well, also in the space.
- issues: @woodman $GMED $ABMD $EW $SYK $MZOR Thanks for that input Woodie. I looked but I didn't buy SYK. I might buy MZOR. Thanks keep up your excellent suggestions = from all of us little people trying to make a dime, a heart BIG thank you Woodie!!
