- Lou: I'm still here, though I've limited my online activity significantly as I'm dealing with a myriad of personal issues - age, moving to a senior community, selling my home, etc. etc. Just FYI - $FTI is still a large holding and great news in the CC; my few biotechs are performing; love my massive position in $ET for income, ditto $EPD (much smaller); and $DBRG is finally showing some life. I'm very bullish and very long on this asset light global digital infrastructure giant. Looking for significant upside from here.
- marklesparkle: @Lou $FTI $ET $EPD $DBRG I'm glad things are going as good as they can for you
- Lou: @marklesparkle $FTI $ET $EPD $DBRG - thanks! My latest issue is that I'm dealing with a#FootDrop issue. PT, special device to let me walk heel/toe and seeing docs to find out whether there's a surgical or other solution that might fix it. I miss my long brisk walks and am now confined to old people's cardio machines in the gym.
- marklesparkle: @Lou $FTI $ET $EPD $DBRG Damn well you are doing the things that need to be done so good job and cardio is cardio my friend Doesnt matter if the old people do it too lol you're doing it
- sierramp: @Lou $FTI $ET $EPD $DBRG Good to hear from you Lou. That is a lot for anyone to be dealing with. I hope you get a good solution for your foot. Being able to get out to walk - or walk on a treadmill - is good for body and soul. Keep after it.

- woodman: $FTI - watch this set-up. The squeeze continues to progress within the upper part of the BB complex as the 50d continues to rise toward price.
- woodman: $FTI @woodman #Finviz - for example, Look at the Finviz chart for FTI. I'm focusing on something different. I see a 1.4 month consolidatino (since beginning of April) on the daily chart, with a flat-top having formed around $27.20-$27.30 and a wedge formed from 4/22 and price now pinching in the top part of the BB complex, and with a rising 50d, which could create more pressure for a breakout. Whereas, Finviz draws a longer duration channel (cheating a bit to make that channel). Both can be right.
- woodman: @woodman $FTI #Finviz "longer duration *narrowing* channel...." The site won't let me edit my prior post.
- woodman: $FTI pinching in top part of BB complex, though the BBs themselves could stand to come in a little more. The 50d is on its way up to meeting price. Could be a good set up even though oil and gas has been in a bit of a malaise over the last month or so.
- Onthemark: Longs above 8,21,50 and 200d: $CAVA, $OC, $EBAY, $VKTX, $FTI, $GE and $SCHW
- Nepenthe: @scottrades $FTI One chart that looks orderly, and up today on good earnings. NP. Cheers.
- Lou: $FTI reported beats on revenue, earnings and backlog. It did not increase guidance but that just gives it an opportunity for beats in the future. On a decent market day, it would be skyrocketing. If I weren't full, I'd be adding. As-is, I'm tempted..
- Lou: Only a matter of time, IMO, that $FTI moves above 52 weeks and AT high.
- Lou: $FTI still chugging along.
- Lou: $FTI at ATH and IMO going higher.
- Lou: Been doing nothing today but added a bit to my $FTI on the swoon a few minutes ago.
- Lou: All below aside, time to add to energy - I like $FTI $WFRD and at current trading prices $ET $EPD
- Lou: @champ #rumor #ceasefire - you're likely right regarding waiting to buy, but I wouldn't panic sell now. Holding good positions is what I'm now doing, though I did add a bit to $WFRD and $FTI, which in my opinion, will do fine in any event.
- champ: @Lou $WFRD $FTI #rumor #ceasefire ....I'm still holding positions and I'm waiting to Add-on, on some of them and others I might take profits...and then maybe Buy-back at a lower price......however for Now...I'm on Hold and I'm only making a #Buy-list.... ....For now....I'm a Watcher......
- billyzeke: @champ $WFRD $FTI #rumor #ceasefire #Buy-list I'm holding my long term positions that I think will do well into the future... but days like this aren't much fun. A 490 point downward swing on the NDX....YUCK!
- champ: @billyzeke $WFRD $FTI #rumor #ceasefire #Buy-list.....You are playing it, your way and that works....because there are #Short-sellers that drop #Fake-news into the Markets all the time.....however that will drop the Markets also, so rumors, fake-news and real News will all drop the Markets....and professional traders will sell first, especially if they see the News in real-time.... and then they will Buy back-in, at lower prices...... ...and there is a #different-between an Investor and also a Trader, as we all know....because they both work differently.....and even Investors work differently because many will start to #scale-out, if doubtful, in 1/4th or 1/3 or 1/2.
- Lou: @Lou $ET $EPD -- as did $FTI
- Lou: I may be wrong, but I think that the market is heavy and there will be some significant selling ahead of the three day Easter weekend. May be a good time to pick up some decent stocks at bargain basement prices. On a whim, I took my profits on $CLSK yesterday, later today may be a good time to reenter lower. Also thinking about more $VKTX $DBRG $FTI and $EPD
- woodman: @Lou $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD - I can't imagine why VKTX is under $100, much less under $90 right now. New PTs following oral obesity data: Oppy 138 Truist 120 BITG 125 RJF 115 Jef 110 Stifel 95 My question is: at what price will it be acquired and, of course, when? I will add on any decent dips, and maybe some less than decent dips.
- Lou: @Lou $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD - decided that $21.58 is a good enough price to buy back my sold $CSLK shares. I didn't want it o get away from me, so I'm back in. Thanks @DAN
- champ: @Lou $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD....Could be, we will see how it plays-out and for my account, I'm still way up and I thought that it looked like the Shorts were covering before the 3-Day weekend.... ....now we will see if the Day-traders take any of their longs off and they might not but a flat close would be nice and anything above the flat-line would be a #nice-plus...before the weekend.... and the Markets had a great move yesterday.
- DavidK: @Lou $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD I am positioning to some selling next week . Money managers gonna hold thru end of quarter and then sell some next week or so . I am only long $CLL ( small ) $PFE calls medium , small $ TLRY . Long VXX calls
- champ: @DavidK $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD $CLL $PFE ....The way that it normally works is....money managers don't sell in a strong Market...plus they will hold into the first earnings reports from the Banks...and that starts on 4/12...... ....plus they are not going to miss a strong earnings season, they will at least wait to see how earnings reports go..... however small traders might move off...but Not the money managers, thats my guess.
- DavidK: @champ $CLSK $VKTX $DBRG $FTI $EPD $CLL $PFE good catch . I did forget about this being an earnings report month . Probably small fry’s like me selling some stuff . I don’t like to hold thru earnings unless I really feel confident. $CCL I had a big call position about 2-3 days before earnings but bailed . I didn’t like price action
- Lou: $FTI continues to chug upwards. New 52 weeks high. I still believe that it's a buyout candidate.

- Margi1983: @Lou $FTI $VLO $WFRD $NVDA Thank you Lou for all your advice on $FTI. I have been long since May 2023. Up 76%
- Lou: @Margi1983 $FTI $VLO $WFRD $NVDA - you're welcome @Margi - looks like it's following through on the breakout. I love blue skies.
- Lou: $FTI continues to perform.
- debeers: $FTI@LOU- was trying to decide between $FTI and $VLO and here's the reason i chose the $VLO: Technipfmc Insider Sold Shares Worth $7,205,487, According to a Recent SEC Filing MT Newswires - 5:09 PM ET, 03/05/2024 05:09 PM EST, 03/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Justin Rounce, Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, on March 01, 2024, sold 329,469 shares in Technipfmc (FTI) for $7,205,487 I want insiders who are buying their shares.
- Lou: @debeers $FTI $VLO - they're both great performers. Some like chocolate and some vanilla. I like $FTI because I'm sitting on massive appreciation, sold half (no regrets - got all of my money out from the whole investment) at around 18, and I think $FTI is small enough for a tuck-in merger by a larger company, I own $WFRD (a relatively smaller stake) and believe a combination of the two could occur as they service the same off-shore customers side by side.
- debeers: @Lou $FTI $VLO $WFRD - well the reason i like chocolate (VLO)is this: $VLO beat for all 4 of its prior Quarters while $FTI missed on 2 of the 4.
- Lou: @debeers $FTI $VLO $WFRD - I absolutely don't blame you for liking $VLO - but they are in different businesses and I'm not sure why you're comparing them. $FTI works in the deep oceans and $VLO is a downstream company, manufactures, refines, etc. I'm absolutely not criticizing your investment in $VLO (wish i owned some) and not saying that $FTI is the best investment ever, I'm just saying that it's working for me. I'm sure some here would say that they've done better with $NVDA than I've done with $FTI. Bully for them too and I envy them as well. Stay well!
- Lou: $FTI approaching all time high.
- Lou: Great Q and encouraging CC from $FTI
- Lou: @wijimmy $WFRD $LPG $TNK $STNG $TDW $XPRO #Tankers #Oil #Gas - add to that $FTI and the #MLPs
- wijimmy: @Lou $WFRD $LPG $TNK $STNG $TDW $XPRO $FTI #Tankers #Oil #Gas #MLPs .. Don't Like MLP's ..due to K1's . my CPA said she will drop me if I trade them ever again...
- Margi1983: @Lou $IOVA Thank you for $FTI. Moving well and because of you, Lou, my cost is way down at 13.45. LT investment
- Lou: @wijimmy $WFRD $LPG $TNK $STNG $TDW $XPRO $FTI #Tankers #Oil #Gas #MLPs - depending on your age, MLPs may be a godsend. If you are a senior, think about changing your CPA rather than not owning MLPs in your TAXABLE account, but not in an IRA or similar. MLPs pay you a nice tax deferred distribution, reducing your cost basis. and, if held until your death, your estate gets a step up in basis. If distributions exhaust your basis before your death, the excess is treated as a capital gain, LT or ST, depending on when you purchased the MLP units. I love my MLPs, am very long $ET, which produces more quarterly cash flow from distributions than I'll ever spend, and $EPD which is the creme de la creme of the genre. As I said above, I'd rather change CPAs than not own my MLPs.
- Lou: @Margi1983 $IOVA $FTI - you're welcome @Margi. Now that you're at a young retirement age, think about dipping your toe into $ET and/or $EPD.
- Margi1983: @Lou $IOVA $FTI $ET $EPD I am 68 and retiring this November. I need you to explain the logic of not holding MLP's in IRA/SEP accounts. Are you suggesting them only for taxable accounts because of the tax deferment?
- Lou: @Margi1983 $IOVA $FTI $ET $EPD - tax deferment is the second reason. The first and more important reason is that earnings by the MLPs i recommend are subject to tax on unrelated business income (UBTI) and these MLPs generate a ton of such taxable income. They more than eat up your profits and appreciation.
- Margi1983: @Lou $IOVA $FTI $ET $EPD Got it. I will dip my toe with $EPD on a pullback via my taxable account, not my IRA's, per your advice. I am sure my CPA will hate the tax work, but that's what I pay him for
- Lou: @Margi1983 $IOVA $FTI $ET $EPD - Good luck. The tax accounting is not at all difficult for knowledgeable CPAs. The K-1s and tax support from the MLPs are excellent.
- Margi1983: @woodman $ARDX @Lou and @woodman are SMM rockstars!! Recent examples from them $FTI, $ARDX and $CLRB to name 3 I am long and green. Our friend Lady @debeers gets a gold star for $ELF
- Lou: Feeling the love - my four largest positions -$ET $DBRG $FTI and $ARDX are all soaring.
- Margi1983: $FTI with a nice green bounce near the recent 18.33 low from 1/10 and another similar low on 12/12/23. Long from below.
-
maracom: ...
- Watching $FTI again, which is bouncing at the December lows/the July consolidation region but also looks like it has a date with 200sma - Lou: Happy New Year all - For years, on the last day of trading, I've made a buy based on my perception (is it guess?) of something that I believe will perform well next year. Generally, it's been a stock in which I already had a position. This year it won't be different. I am now trying to decide on today's buy. The candidates are $ET $EPD $DBRG $FTI. I will post my decision as soon as I enter the order.
- Lou: @Lou $ET $EPD $DBRG $FTI - as tempted as I was to buy more of all four, because it is a smaller position of mine than the other three, I added to $ARDX.
- jonwest88: @Lou $ET $EPD $DBRG $FTI $ARDX I chose months ago and added a few times to $ET, still paying over 9% too. For exploration investment still have a small profitable position in $FANG.
- Lou: @jonwest88 $ET $EPD $DBRG $FTI $ARDX $FANG - good choice - $ET is such an oversized position for me that I can't add any more. It's what I call my "one decision investment.'" Because distributions reduce one's basis (they're treated for the most part as return of capital), on sale they are gains, and on top of that there would be significant depreciation recapture, the tax bite on sale would eat away much of any gain. At my age, and with the great tax deferred cash flow, I'm determined to hold $ET (and $EPD) for my estate. At that time, under current tax laws, there would be a step-up in basis and my heirs would be able to sell without tax consequences. That said, I think that it's still a great buy, even today.
- Margi1983: @Lou $RELY Are you back buying $FTI? Nice bounce off the bottom BB
- Lou: @Margi1983 $RELY $FTI - no, I'm still holding a more than full position that's up more than 100% - happy with what I have. I did cut it in half at a very good profit. I still look at it as having a good amount of head room.
- Margi1983: @Lou Have not done the bond ladder yet, but I must do this soon. You did Munis and Treasury's right? My $FTI is up 45%. Thinking of adding but with cost basis near $13.50, $19.50 seems pricey. I retire next November 2024
- woodman: @DrScience $FANG $PSX - I let $FTI go today shortly after the open. Too many other things working for me to hold it. But, will keep an eye on the oily stocks.
- maracom: Good morning all! #preciousmetals popping today. $NVDA at ATM is the big news (I closed my BePS for a 11% loss) but $GLD is also back at ATH and the mining stocks are surging today. I'm wayyyy overweight $WPM and $NEM. $UUP coming up on the 100sma, $TLT coming back up. #Trading: Long $WPM $UNG $EWZ Short: $KRE (long Dec $43 puts) -One more day of patience on $UNG would have been prudent, it's testing the summer lows today -$EWZ gapped and is now extended, sold some covered calls. #LTA: Long $BIL $NEM $SLV $DVN $FCX -$FCX recaptured the 50sma -Waiting patiently for $CTRA to tap the 200sma -Out of $FTI for now, need to see a higher daily low print before I'll go back in
- Lou: @shoredriver $NVDA _ thanks for the idea - adding a mix of Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Jobim to my sounds today as I need to get away from CNBC and Fox Business. BTW, also added $WFRD on the $FTI news last night. I think that $FTI is preparing for a sale and IMO $WFRD is the natural partner. They work side by side for many mutual clients.
- maracom: Good morning all! $FTI pullback yesterday spooked me a bit because of it's magnitude, so I sold off my remaining shares today but I'll keep an eye on a low risk re-entry point. $NVDA is resting below 500, looks like earnings will make the decision. I'm within a few percent of breakeven so I'll probably wait for Monday but will likely close my BePS down before earnings. Retail popping off lately, seems to be some bullish sentiment regarding holiday shopping. #Trading: Long $WPM $UNG $EWZ Short: $NVDA (460/450 Dec BePS) $KRE (long Dec $43 puts) #LTA: Long $BIL $NEM $SLV $DVN $FCX -$FCX retesting the 50d from below. We already know energy is under pressure and that recession expectations are durable. Dr. Copper will give us more macro insight soon.
- woodman: $FTI still inside of yesterday's drop, is running back up to the overhead 8dEMA
- woodman: $FTI falling out of bed. News?
- shoredriver: @woodman $FTI ....Maybe @lou has a clue....
- Lou: @shoredriver $FTI - Energy is down today across the board. If one has a long term view, no need to panic. I had cut my exposure in half earlier, at lower prices. No crystal ball, but so far, I'm holding a still out-sized position.
- shoredriver: @shoredriver $DVN #OT #BondLadder ...This was for $FTI....not sure why it pulled here...usual wonky Forum bs.....will it ever change.....
- maracom: @woodman $FTI I got stopped out of a partial, but I'll probably unload more on a retest of the 50day. Great company still, but energy is still in the crosshairs of those who think recession is still on the way
- maracom: Good morning all! Energy still pulling back, as expected. Stopped out of a $FTI partial but I'm eager for a chance to sell some $CTRA naked puts. $UUP weak again, #preciousmetals having another good day. #optionsexpiration tomorrow may lead to some bearish swings as well #Trading: Long $WPM $UNG $EWZ Short: $NVDA (460/450 Dec BePS) $KRE (long Dec $43 puts) #LTA: Long $BIL $NEM $SLV $DVN $FTI $FCX - Stopped out a $FTI partial, possible head and shoulders forming. It's been a powerhouse but today is a big shot across the bow, and I'd rather move to the sidelines and wait for more price data. -Planning to re-enter $CTRA soon, watching for a retest of the 200 and recenty lows to sell a naked put.
- Margi1983: @maracom $FTI I see this as a healthy pullback to the 20 week average, as the weekly chart is fine. However, if it drops to 18.00 I will sell 1/2 of my smallish position.
