  • gmj: $TTI , $GUSH added this AM to sm pos will add again abv 19.30; $TTI sm spec pos off the lows has run before
  • Lou: $TTI - a little stinkbomb in my portfolio, I was watching and waiting, is beginning to smell like money. Nice move, though now it's on a tight leash.
  • vcondry: Thoughts on $TTI strong today
  • Lou: @Docoof $FTI $TTE - and notice what both $FTI and $YELL have in common - low priced, single digit shares. I love low priced stocks as I can load up on shares cheaply and, if I'm right, moves can end up providing significant percentage gains. Another one that I've been riding for some time (now my largest portfolio holding by far) is $ET. I'm also holding and sloowwllly building $TTI.
  • vcondry: @Lou $FTI $TTE $YELL $ET $TTI appreciate the $TTI and $FTI info and idea. Followed you on both. Thanks!
  • Lou: I like stocks that trade at a low price. Kinda like preferring a pizza sliced into 8 pieces over one that is sliced into 6 pieces. I can own more shares and feel richer. Irrational, that's just me. That's also what got me into some of my better picks and largest winners. With that said, a few weeks ago I started a position in $TTI. It's been performing nicely, and I've added a couple of times. Anyone else in this?
  • dmurphy68: @Lou $TTI I'm not, but I share your irrationality. With a lot of these low-dollar stocks I look at the weekly chart to see where the 5 & 13 EMAs are. @brobert's pounded the table about the 5/13 crossover on the weekly chart being a bullish indicator, and I've found that's the case with many of these stocks. The last time $TTI crossed over it climbed more than 100% in 6 months (Jan - Aug 2021). I've been in $HRTX since it crossed over in Aug. and it's been a pretty good run (despite a decent pullback). $TTI is right at the precipice of crossing so it might have a nice run ahead of it.
  • gmj: $TTI bo HOD, multi yr hi, been a good worker bee for me since the 2.50 level vol +
  • gmj: $TTI good worker for me since the 2.50 level, volatile that's for sure, huge cup and handle mo chart looking back to 2018 highs, don't think much of that matters at the moment. Will take profits by the end of the day on this nice 15-20% move. Lots of b/o fake outs this market.
  • Bridget: $TTI steady uptrend, pullback to the trendline. Buy it near the 20dEMA
  • mharps: $TTI little stock working well
  • gmj: $TTI continuation toward old highs T 1 5.00 / T2 6.50 been trading since the Nov 2020 lows, added on b/o abv 4.00 vol on the hrly chart needs to close abv 4.20 my stops below the 20/50ma. Been a good worker.
  • gmj: $TTI continues to move nicely 2 yr hi w/vol abv 2.85 looking to add abv 3.00 or pb w/bounce
  • gmj: $TTI, $FNGU been good workers for me. $TTI coming out of squeeze on vol 10 min, trading around a core since Nov b/o
  • gmj: $TTI, $FNGU been trading these two since mid-Nov, sold 80% pos in $TTI at the open allowing the rest to ride. Only reason involved with $TTI was because it was a part of ETF $FNGU. It was easy for me to use as trading vehicle without getting hurt over the last two months. Not encouraging anyone to buy $TTI up here. Hard for me to trade the big boys $AMZN and $TSLA etc. Just saying.
  • gmj: $TTI; $FNGU remain interested in $TTI as a part of the $FNGU see my Aug post. Why the pop today ??? only info I found is the following: TETRA TECHNOLOGIES INC ( TTI ) - ACTIVELY PURSUING SEVERAL OPTIONS TO DECONSOLIDATE CSI COMPRESSCO LP FROM TETRA'S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS. I'll hold my small winning pos until I get bucked off below the 8ema. Just curious and doing a little research how this is affected by $XOP etc. Seems it is more aligned with the $OIH.
  • gmj: $FNGU, $TTI Any opinions on $TTI. Going through charts of components of various owned ETFs. I am using $FNGU in smaller accounts to invest in FANG stocks. One of the components is $TTI now a penny stock yet in the $FNGU. A $9 stock in last 5 ys and $30 in 2005-06. I don't invest in penny stocks but am curious about this as a component and bought 100sh for a very long term hold. As soon as I did that I reminded myself that "curiosity killed the cat."

Most vol squeezes have broken out by now so it is slim pickings. Anyway, maybe there is something useful in this list. Have a great weekend.
  • richard9f: $NR Trying to clear and hold 8. Could start olaying catch-up to $FTK and $TTI on a close above 8.05 on more volume. Could use 7.80 as a tight stop.
  • richard9f: $TTI Oil services co, with a focus on drilling well fluids, breaking out to new multi year high on good volume. These cos, which include $FTK and $NR, may get more interest if increased shale fracking gets govt OK. If that happens, there will likely be more restrictions on the handling of waste water, in addition to the chemicals in the drilling fluids themselves, and these cos should be positioned to handle that.
  • rincon8: $TTI - I've been in and out of this one with limited success. Up nicely today, against the BBs and watching to see if it pops out.
  • rincon7: $TTI After a nice pop yesterday, seems to be holding above the #200ema.
  • rincon7: $RIG WFT $TTI - I'd be real interested in anyone's perspective on these ones, which seem to have a similar pattern of dropping slightly today but so far showing support at the upper BB (TTI less so but its similar). My take is that this shows support in the same general level and still consistent with the thesis that they may be in the early stages of breaking out from a volatility #squeeze.

Before getting into stops I would like to make a couple of comments about my current trading.

Because of limited available time, I work full time, I am trading fewer stocks and larger positions.

    Monday Shopping List: $TTI, RIMM, $IPI, $POT, $DOW, XRTX
  • ronaldrussell: Protecting Profits - Last year I was fortunate enough to short the market in January, then I proceeded to give a huge % of it back prior to SMM. I am now sitting with what I would consider an acceptable return for the year, 15% + and am seriously considering reducing my risk exposure to the minimum < 20% and wait for the next low risk opportunity. On Friday I reduced my positions to 60% invested. I have taken profits (75%-85%) in $WLT, $TX, $SWC, $TTI, $QCOM & $TEVA, Reduced my exposure (50%) in $WDC & $HP and holding full positions in FEED, $SUTR, $FWLT, $AVAV, & AA. Feeling good about the first 60 days of this year, just don't want to screw it up!
  • ronaldrussell: $TX - Taking profits - sold 50% - $TTI & $SWC as well
  • ronaldrussell: Event Risk - I am currently attempting to keep a portion of my stocks in Oil and defense related stocks. I believe there are enough opportunities in these areas that allow a reasonable investment returns and provide a margin of downside protection if Middle East tensions escalate. Currently I own $RIG, $GLF & $TTI in the oil sector and $AVAV, $FLIR in defense sector.
  • ronaldrussell: Market ? A little self-analysis this week end. (Trading Account). This was the first big pull back since joining SMM 6 months ago. There was no panic selling this time but more of an orderly run for the foxhole?.

  • ronaldrussell: RE: Oil, Iran
Glad you brought it up. All indications are that we will be range bound for some extended period of time. My thought right now is that any meaningful catalyst would be to the downside. #Greece collapse, Iran dispute etc.

I have started watching closer what I am investing in, making sure I have exposure to oil & defense stocks, currently holding $RIG, $TTI, $GLF, $FLIR & AVAV. Looking at $XOM because they appear to have the least Middle East exposure. Also, $ATK, $RTN & COL.

If I can accumulate 35% of my portfolio in these areas, seems pretty safe?
  • ronaldrussell: $TTI - First mistake of 2010. Bought successful breakout @10.51 sold 1/2 @ $11.88 yesterday. Did not wait for first sign of weakness, pre-market $12.00. Patience!!!
  • alia1: I bought $TTI 2 days ago waiting for the volatility expansion. Here it is :)
  • lulabelle333: Re: $TTI - It's up 12.5% after 2Q earnings report today, which were down 62%! Any thoughts on why?
  • Virgil25: Added another Biotech-- $OPTR, sold $BQI for a gain. Sold $DVR for a small profit yesterday and GGR & $TTI at a loss. Basically cleaning house these past couple of days:) I like having biotech in this type of market. I also am looking to add to $RDC if it gets down to where I bought it or below $38. My feeling is that the oil/gas service group will recover in the spring as shortages hit harder. /* @Phil */
  • Virgil25: Bought ABXA @ 7.10 & $TTI @ 22.28. Both looked good fundamentally & technically. /* @Phil */
  • Virgil25: Oil Drillers & Service. I have been reviewing items in the 2 above categories and came up with a list of attractive or potentially attractive items, based on their PE, chart, and potential: $LUFK, $ESV, $UNT, $GLF, $RDC, $NBR, $HERO, BJS, $WTI, $PTEN, $BAS, $TTI, BRNC, $RES, OMNI. Some of these are land drillers -- many of the latter are natural gas drillers. What with T.Boon Pickens talking about natural gas AND the fact that gas is profitable down to $5, I would have no hesitation in buying land drillers. For those looking at Canadian oil trusts but put off by the possible Alberta legislation, $PDS which pays 7.4% and is a drilling trust might be an interesting play. I don't think the Alberta legislation includes drillers, just producers. /* @Phil */
