As I look at the charts of those taken off vs those newly added, I wonder how in the world do they decide what to take off and what to put on. I don't think they use charts, b/c I don't see any pattern to their actions! Do you? Doing my diligent research on $NVCR mentioned today in the magnanimous Forum (here!): I found these in the same industry group #68 Med Products: $MDXG $QDEL $CFMS $zyxi & $ATEC Just looking at these charts, what do you see? $ATEC looks like an interesting flag pattern (phase 2?). What else do YOU see?

- Forexpro: Re: $BPOP Hi, Friends, This bank covers Puerto Rico, the Caribbean (don't recall ever seeing a branch outside of the home island, though) and New York City. Retail, middle market business lending. I would have assumed that the bank's finances are a disaster, but they get "C" ratings. For purposes of comparison, $BAC gets a "C" grade for growth and financial health, a "B" for profitability. I was scanning through charts, and I had dismissed it when I first looked at it due to the large gap. Well, time and market action have done some work, and it's no longer as extended. I don't think that I'm inclined to do anything with it, but thought I'd mention it for a sort of "outside the box" (and, to some extent, the mainland) financial stock. All the best!

I contacted a source who works for a hedge fund that specializes in financial institutions.
His comments on $SNV were:
1. It is the highest beta bank stock among the U.S. regionals
2. The common should be viewed as a long te ... - brwnilocks: $BPOP - booked profits with protective stop, didn't like the big red candle. Wish I had taken more profits near the highs but hey that's trading. The intraday low and bounce was right around the 50% retracement (which is still bullish) from the low to high of the last 4 days, FYI.
- nwsvndr: $BPOP - really long, flat consolidation and now nicely coming out of vol #squeeze but the nice thing (in my mind) is it hasn't been up 10 days in a row like $C, for example, so it may be due to play catch up with the bank rally. I don't know much about it except it has large market share in Peurto Rico.

- tnt: $BPOP volitality expansion just getting warmed up. Longer term target over $4. You can see what happened when it got going from Feb to April earlier in the year

- brwnilocks: $BPOP @prockow, no I have not been following it lately but I have traded it in the past, in April 2010 when it was moving. I wanted some "financial" exposure in my portfolio as they appeared to be getting some $ rotating into them and this one has been basing for a long time. I'm more of a technical trader so can't speak about the fundies here. Also, i consider this more of a speculative trade and truth be told on this one, there is a bit of sentimental aspect for me as Banco Popular of Puerto Rico is where some members of my family used to work in years past. Sorry can't be more helpful.
- tnt: $BPOP, has been forming a 6 month base here. In recent weeks, higher volume days have been green bars. Volitality #squeeze is in the early stages of expansion. Price action is trading above the 20,50, and 200 day ma. They are layered underneath as support and starting to move higher. Long BPOP
- tnt: $BPOP, looks the start of a volitality expansion higher off a 3 month base. Higher trading volume last 4 days. No insider sells in last year with one insider buy. January $3 calls active today also. Starting position today and will add on breakout above $3

- dr.orangejuicer: $BPOP WHI EUBK RGFC $OFG - Mentioned $BPOP yesterday, a little follow-up today... Another Puerto Rican paper is reporting that $BPOP has indeed won the bid for WHI. WHI shares were halted this morning, pending news. No news yet, shares still frozen. The paper also reported that $OFG will be taking over EUBK and Scotiabank will be taking over RGFC. $BPOP and $OFG are both up, $DRL is done (DRL was a bidder, will not be receiving any assets according to rumors). Heavy option activity in $BPOP, mostly on the call side.
- dr.orangejuicer: $BPOP OFG - Confirmed: $BPOP is taking over WHI, Scotiabank is taking over RGFC, and $OFG is taking over EUBK. $BPOP trading up 8% after hours. It'll be interesting to see if this gets sold on Monday.
- dr.orangejuicer: $BPOP - I started following this after a few traders here mentioned it. Took a small position in this recent consolidation, bought more on the dip today. $BPOP is one of a handful of banks bidding for the assets of what will soon be FDIC-seized banks. The deadline to bid passed this past Tuesday, according to the Wall Street Journal. Other bidders include $DRL and OFG. The stock is down today because a Puerto Rican newspaper, El Vocero, cites sources claiming that BPOP's offer has been rejected by the FDIC. #Options activity on $BPOP has been enormous, mostly on the call side. Heavy interest on the put side as well. I have no idea what was sold and what was bought so take this with a grain of salt.

22,000 May 3.5 puts traded today vs. 11,000 May 3.5 calls. The puts were about half the price of the calls which leads me to believe someone may have put on a 2 x 1 risk reversal ... - brwnilocks: $BPOP -- Lastnight when I checked my portfolio this stock was down in aftermarket due to earnings report, I think @ 2.89, and I was bummed. Now this morning I open my trading platform and what a surprise, it's up @ 3.53! My initial target was 3.50, talk about luck! So now decision time, how much to sell into this strength. Edit: Decision was made and protective stop took me out at 3.35. I don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth. :)
- billuke: $BPOP - I also was surprised today. I bought the stock at $2.60 and also 10 of the $3 June calls. I'm planning to sell the calls and see what happens with the stock, probably sell that too.

- jng369: Badly beaten down stocks. I wrote a filter to scan for all stocks which has been beaten down at least 70% stocks. With an recovering economy, I think that those stocks are probably ready to recover some of their lost as well. Even if they can recover 20% of their lost by the end of the year, that is a very sizable gain. This is the list that I am going to work on today and tomorrow to find some bargains. - ML237: $BPOP HBAN $BAC SD Don't know if anyone was in this one with me. Was riding this one since last week financial shortsqueeze but this morning announced an exchanged of preferred $C for additional stock (issuing 380mil vs 280 outstanding) so I dumped most in pre-market. Took profits on Friday in $HBAN and $BAC as well. Looking to continued play on Fridays BE in $SD (in at 10.11_ as I see a potential move on strenght over 11 potentially to 12.
- ML237: $HBAN, $BPOP, BAC; MS; WFC; $FITB Indeed as i stated yesterday I have been long it since few weeks back in anticipation of a breakout and getting stopped out a few times. Last few buys at $4 held and been riding since. As @Dan said I booked some profits on initial position and added some more I think I will ride this for intermediate term. Need to get into some other #financials like the ones we covered just looking for a nice entry. Also $BPOP has been cought before breakout (around 1.37)and now expecting another pop @ 1.60-61
- ML237: $HBAN indeed on my screen all this time bought and got stopped out a few times but the last week or so held above $4 where was my initial entry. I just was waiting for a BE above 4.2 and today finally it came. Needless to say i tripled my position as I think this one has legs as do all the #financials that are needed to participate for that next leg of the rally. Also look at $BPOP for an imminent BE as this one could have a nice pop above 1.41. Disclosure small position at 1.35 looking to add on signs of the BE move for a short term trade.
