  • Forexpro: @wanda1616 $MS $DB $BCS $C Hey, Wanda1616, Not knowing "what next" makes it more fun, doesn't it? Put clever people in contact with lots of money, and all sorts of shenanigans can ensue. As the best head trader I ever worked with responded on one of the occasions when I complained that one of his monkeys was gaffing one of my (and the bank's) most important clients: "I know he's a weasel! I want weasels working for me!" So I guess the guy was both a monkey and a weasel. So there you have it. I note that $KBE, although highly (0.87) correlated with the $SPX has been outperforming of late to a modest degree. Here's hoping that you're well, and thriving; all the best!

  • Forexpro: Re: $C Hi, Friends, I just skimmed over the article, but I gather that some of $C's derivatives holdings have been determined to require larger capital reserves than were previously thought necessary. In consequence, the bank is halting stock repurchases for a while. If the CFO mentioned for how long, I missed it. This is another very large, complex organization that of late can't seem to get out of its own way. It has had some really colorful snafus, and the regulators are of course now all over it, which makes it that much tougher to re-establish a degree of operational equilibrium. Back in my day, one of the two leading players in FX, along with $DB. $STT was "Top 10", but way behind "Top 2". No position in either $C or (you're kidding, right?) $DB. A merger with $CRZBY may prove to be one of those 1 plus 1 equals 0.75 mergers. $DB has, or had, a lot of capital markets expertise (certainly more than Commerz), but I don't see a combination as likely to make market participants more eager to deal there, or inclined to provide larger profit margins. A vastly complex business with poor IT and monitoring would be likely to annoy the Federales.
