But in the end what we do with our accounts is a personal decision. I have a few things open but very small positions. The market could go higher but it's more likely to go lower. If we can just keep small positions or just step to the sidelines we eventually find another uptrend where money is easy.

Trying to pick a winner, placing our bets, hoping to have a winning streak? Wall Street has the house advantage over us retail investors but at least we can manage risk and it's not all or nothing bets which is an advantage over these online sites. I personally won't invest in tobacco companies even with their great dividends for similar sort of reasons. We as investors all have to follow our own path...and hopefully make some money along the way ;-)

My concern is for all of the people who are subsisting on relatively low incomes and splurging on prop bets on their mobile devices in the hope of hitting it big. This is particularly of concern for younger low income workers. Yes, we're participating in the stock market casino and some of us can go broke. But with margin requirements and internal vigilance and controls, the brokers can limit losses incurred by their clients.

- joelsg1: @Lou $DKNG $DUEL I also worked 2 summers near Monticello while in college, my girlfriend at the time worked at Grossingers and I managed a small park/lake. A friend's uncle owned a trotter at the racetrack and we'd go each week to watch and bet on him, he won something like 6 races in a row at the lowest class, and we made out like bandits, but then the stewards moved him up in class and he never won again. Lots of fixes in harness racing. Good times. On your investing ethics, I feel the same about a few companies, tobacco, asbestos and unrepentant polluters, but plenty of other opportunities. Thanks for sharing.

Last night my $4 entry in an NBA 4 game contest won me $40 .came I 122nd place out of 22,808 entries . 6k was 1st place . I always put in PGA teams . It’s great entertainment at a cheap price . Won 5 k in British Open once on a 5 th place finish / $ 5 entry fee. I do agree with you though in the betting on anything and every play etc . Thankfully my state don’t allow that , only Fantasy Sports
