  • Mikev200: $GEV ATH, earnings next week
  • woodman: @Mikev200 $GEV - so many earnings coming in the last 2 weeks of July. I hate earnings season, lol.
  • cgendro1: @woodman $VRT - all moving to downside $CEG $GEV $PWR. $NRG close to 50d and trying to go. Watching
  • woodman: $LEU $UPST $BKSY $HOOD $GEV are pretty tame, but are my best performers today. It's mostly red on my screen today.
  • woodman: $LEU $UPST $BKSY $HOOD $GEV - The $LEU trade off the 20 day area is working decently now. My purchases were in the $170s.
  • Mikev200: $GEV another ATH
  • woodman: @Mikev200 $GEV - $GEV and $VST have been sweet! $CEG not too shabby either. Keep watch of $NRG in this group as well. It's consolidating into the rising 50d. These are my Four Horsemen of the large power producers.
  • Mikev200: @woodman $GEV $VST $CEG $NRG I have your list! I can only afford one horse :)
  • ReneeH: @woodman $GEV $VST $CEG $NRG love em, totally aligned! $NRG my fav
  • mopick: $GEV, quite the move, up 19 points from the bottom this morning. Long
  • woodman: @ReneeH $NRG $CEG $ENVX - Add $VST and $GEV
  • ReneeH: @woodman $NRG $CEG $ENVX $VST $GEV for sure! top favs here
  • ReneeH: @woodman $LEU such a strong leader, looks extended but I like it a ton, thank you! Have $GEV + $NRG calls
  • Henry: $GEV less than 1% from a new high, UBS upgraded pt to $614 long-long term. Dan put it on the ATL at $515.90 a couple weeks ago and took it off a few days later.
  • woodman: $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG - The Independent Power Producers are holding up just fine. Quite unoffensive. They just chug along. These have been holds for me that I haven't had to fret about. One that I think is worth watching next week and beyond in particular is $NRG. Despite it being extended still, it's in a high consolidation/squeeze with the 50d approaching from below. It may still have some more work to do, but worthy of the watchlist, IMO. I have a very small holdover position after selling most of it back in May. That was nearly a 50% gainer from my April purchase after it broke through first level resistance on 4/24. I sold almost of my holding on 5/21 (holding just a bit so I wouldn't lose sight of it). Nothing to do with this rhrn, but I am keeping closer tabs on it.
  • ReneeH: @woodman $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG I'm riding this rotation. Thanks for validating. They look good, I'll take cyclicals for a few weeks. Rinse repeat.
  • joelsg1: @woodman $CEG $GEV $VST $NRG Super early, but I'm reading that hydrogen fuel cells are potential backup and later primary clean power sources for data centers, replacing nat gas and even diesel backup generators now used. Top 2 companies are $PLUG and $BLDP, I like the latter's chart for a $1.76 spec.
  • limes141: @Dan Good morning everyone! Question for guru @Dan: If one was position and longer term individual, is holding on and sitting through the jiggle for $SPOT, $GEV? Tempted to trim as learning technical is making the sitting still a tad bit harder vs ignorance is bliss. Also, thanks for the technical education on July 1. It was great!
  • Henry: @limes141 $SPOT $GEV I wanna be a guru too. .🤣 TOS puts these little blurs in the news section: "Spotify Technology (NYSE:SPOT) has outperformed the market over the past 5 years by 8.38% on an annualized basis producing an average annual return of 22.65%. Currently, Spotify Technology has a market capitalization of $148.12 billion. Buying $100 In SPOT: If an investor had bought $100 of SPOT stock 5 years ago, it would be worth $277.55 today based on a price of $722.35 for SPOT at the time of writing." If you are going to trade your long term holdings, you have to be right when you sell and right when you buy back. Some people do trade around a position, holding some and trading some. I do not.
  • limes141: @Henry $SPOT $GEV All of you here are gurus. @Henry. Spell it out like I am a six grader please. What would you do @Henry? I have them spread between taxable and nontaxable and as I learn technical I now dislike "basing" as the great @Dan said last night. Love his semi unedited commentaries LOL. Unload some? Hindsight greedy me would have been happy unload both at the top or several of my momentum stocks : ( Think I have to listen to Dan from yesterday again. He said a few wise thing in the first several minutes at the open.
  • bengalrichter: $GEV $SMR Has anyone seen news that might explain the selloff in nuclear stocks? These two positions are getting nuked.
  • Bridgemate: @bengalrichter $GEV $SMR OKLO and NNE as well!
  • woodman: @bengalrichter $GEV $SMR - The market is under pressure today, particularly stocks that ran well last Q. New Q dumpage of last Q's runners, IMO. Plus you have the bill that will ultimately be passed in Congress that will add $3.4 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years, but whether that has anything to do with this, I don't know.
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
$GEV -- the stop was hit at 496.70.

$BWXT -- Has been drifting for a while. Entry was 117.34 and it's now at 140.46. That's enough for me. Should be enough for you too.

Always honor your stops. And always manage your stops. Once you've go ...
  • DavidK: @StockMarketMentor $CYBR $SPOT $SMCI $SRAD $GEV $BWXT that’s enough ? Reminds me of the old story of the Fox who broke off his love affair with the skunk. He hadn’t had all he wanted just all he could stand.
  • RD: $GEV GE Vernova is considering selling its Proficy industrial software unit, which could be valued as high as $1 billion, Bloomberg reported Saturday.
  • woodman: @RD $GEV - Thanks for the info. Quite a bounce back after falling thru the 21dEMA earlier today. Still holding my position from lower.
  • RD: @woodman $GEV back above 500
  • woodman: @RD $GEV - Indeed!
  • Henry: $GEV is going to open at a new high
  • billyzeke: $GEV Doing well today. I got in and then back out the other day when Dan put it on the list and it started falling, got back in this morning.
  • woodman: The big power producers are still getting it done. $NRG and $GEV breaking out on good volume to make all time highs. $VST continues to move up (nearing its all time high as it completes a "V"/cup (messy left side, but pretty much straight line right side)). $CEG leaking to the upside as it moves closer toward testing its all time high.
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
$GEV -- working well on a breakout. Slight stop adjustment from 496.70 to 502.90
    $HOOD -- stop adjustment from 74.38 to 79.90.
$IBIT -- Holding pattern on this “tracking position.”
    $JPM -- still working! This is a long-term hold. S ...
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
Also, I'll be adding $GEV to the ATI List. I actually thought I had added it yesterday, but I was wrong -- maybe I just "misremembered."

    Have a good one.

    --Dan

  • StockMarketMentor: Adding GE Vernova ($GEV) to the ATI List. Basis: 515.90 Stop area: Just below yesterday's intraday low of 496.73. Note: As I type this, the stock is at the low of the intraday range, which essentially means that you're buying on a pullback rather than a breakout. As such, any new trade has a bit of extra risk. I like to start small and only add when the position is rewarding me. This is a pop from a squeeze. If the trade is going to work, you'll have time to add to the position when I am profitable. To be clear, this might fall even lower, so be mindful of that. --Dan
  • oldtimer: @StockMarketMentor $GEV Dan - got lucky . .I am in at 476 and will use your stop for my purchase
  • woodman: @StockMarketMentor $GEV - The Independent Power Producers, with fingers in the big Nuke pie, have been gold. Long $GEV $CEG $VST $NRG from below. Btw, $NRG has a steep rising 50d heading toward price and is in a high squeeze at all time high levels. And $CEG also is in a squeeze but more of a cup and handle.
  • cgendro1: $CEG $GEV- worth watching.
  • woodman: @cgendro1 $CEG $GEV & $VST $NRG - I have been holding a position of varying size in each of these. They have been steady eddies.
  • woodman: $CEG $GEV $NRG $VST - I'm still in these Independent Power Producers/lager nukes. The first 3 are consolidating/squeezing though still kind of far away from major moving averages (i.e. 50d). I'm just continuing to hold them as long as they don't do anything offensive.
  • Mikev200: $GEV +$500
  • cgendro1: @woodman $GE - $GEV worth watching. BB are at 7.47
  • Bert953: @scottrades $HIMS $HIMS another good looking squeeze. I added a few more names to my squeeze watchlist this morn. $ETN $CEG $GEV $NRG. The others I posted a few days ago.
  • woodman: $CEG $VST $GEV - CEG BBs have narrowed as it holds the 21dEMA. GEV and VST uptrends continue. They did briefly break their 8dEMAs, but have bounced off the 21dEMA. I remain in these stocks.
  • cgendro1: $GEV $NRG $PWR $CEG $VST- all getting hit this am
  • Mikev200: @woodman $GE, Yes PB in effect, looks like $GE & $GEV are brothers.
  • woodman: @Mikev200 $GE $GEV - LOL, I thought the same thing.
  • woodman: @marklesparkle $NRG - I follow it closely. I was in from ~$102-$111 area with a large position, most of which I held through earnings. I sold at $155 after that big move off earnings figuring it would have to take a breather at the very leaast. It has held up, just catching its breath since then. Narrow BBs and the 21dEMA is catching up now. Still very extended, obviously, but let's keep an eye on it. The industry (Independent Power Producers) is hot (excuse the pun). Also in $CEG $GEV $VST in the same industry.
  • marklesparkle: @woodman $NRG $CEG $GEV $VST Yes I've been in and out of a few . I was a medium voltage cable splicer for 35 years so I like the Power and the $UTES
  • woodman: @marklesparkle $NRG $CEG $GEV $VST $UTES - Nice.
  • mopick: $GEV, holding the 8 ema, small position, looking to add
  • woodman: @cgendro1 $CEG $META - Nice. $CEG and $META are two of my larger holdings currently. I'm in some of the other large power producers ($VST $GEV) as well, and I bought back $NNE and a little $SMR (small reactor) yesterday. Better to be lucky than good. :-)
  • woodman: $CEG $VST $GEV $NRG - These IPPs (Independent Power Producers) continue to work well. The first three continue upward along their rising the 8dEMAs. The last (NRG) is still working off that big move, going sideways along the 8dEMA as it does the work.
  • camaro69: List 2 of stocks at ATH $DRI, $DY, $GEV, $HEI,$INTU, $JCI, $JFB, $LZMH, $MBAV, $MIR
  • Mikev200: $GEV vol on close....resume next week? 3 upgrades/1 downgrade this week
  • Henry: $GEV knocked down by a Jeffries downgrade pt 517 long
  • woodman: @Henry $OKLO $CCJ - I still have some of the larger power producers: $CEG $VST $GEV.
  • Mikev200: $OKLO HOD $GEV ATH
  • Mikev200: $GEV continues!
  • woodman: @Mikev200 $GEV - Yes! Good call. With the need for power generally and the Administration's stated support for nuclear specifically, the larger Independent Power Producers are doing well. I'm holding a mini-basket - this one along with $CEG $VST and a little $NRG (I sold down a large NRG position around $155 following that big pop earlier this month (around a 50% gain on most of my shares), but still holding a little and watching to buy back potentially).
  • limes141: @Dan@ anyone $GEV. Do I let it continue to ride because of the current theme? It looks like a magnet for 500 or I could be wrong. Advice please as I have the tendency to hold too long. I have held since Oct 2024. Thank you in advance.
  • Mikev200: @limes141 $GEV I have stops in place. If the market holds up, $500 is pretty much a given. If you like, take some off, nothing wrong with that either.
  • phgruver: @limes141 $GEV When you get nervous about a holding, it's a good practice to take some off the table. This one has run a lot, since the April low. I suspect that @Dan would suggest you set staggered stops, depending on the size of your position. If you only have 100 shares, maybe set a stop on 50. If you have 600 shares, set the stop on 200. Manage your risk, but don't abandon a winning position, unless it quits winning.
  • limes141: @phgruver $GEV Thank you all. Please elaborate "set your stop on 200 and 50" ie moving avg? When I set stops I get stop out sooner then I like and it would run up forcing me to buy higher so I sorta kept a mental stop but then things like $CDNS or $CRWD happens in after hours. Always confused by stops. Here to learn from all of you guys,
  • limes141: @phgruver $GEV That was quick, magnet up to $500.
  • Henry: @limes141 $GEV I got it in January so we both weathered the March April storm. Where you take profits and where you set stops depends on your time frame. I'm looking long, long term, but if this were an ATL stock put on the list May 19th, I'll bet Dan would have the stop at the 8 day. As Cramer pointed out tonight, unlike other nuke stocks, GEV makes money. Long term holders have to weather big pullbacks. This is now a momentum stock and you and I are going to have to decide if we are long term or short term. My bias is this is a secular (long term) trend in energy and I don't have a stop.
  • limes141: @Henry $GEV Thank you. We sure did weathered those months. It was the fundamental and monitoring how it behave in bad times that kept me in. Dan and Scott are probably cringing reading we do not have a stop. I find that the more I learn, the harder it is to sit, a double edge sword with knowledge. However, this group and this market has made me better at technicals.
