  • Drkay: $REITS are up big today. $PMT +65%, $TWO 63%, $STWD 28%, $NRZ 25%, $CIM 24%, $AGNC 20%
  • Drkay: $PMT and $NRZ up 20% today. PTL!
  • Drkay: $PMT On sale tonight, announced an 8MM share offering AH. Always a good buying opportunity.
  • Drkay: @jan2138 $NRZ Stopped out of $NRZ break even. What I do not understand is why $NRZ is down significantly while $PMT is up significantly the same day. Comments?
  • jan2138: @Drkay $NRZ $PMT $PMT's chart looks a great deal more positive than $NRZ's for sure. I wish I had an answer to your question that looks learned, but I don't. While I am not familiar with $PMT, after a quick look, their operations appear to be quite different. NRZ is heavy in MSR's which PMT is not. NRZ is involved in other aspects of the mtg. business while PMT appears to be strictly in mtg. related assets. BTW, NRZ is up this morning while PMT is not.
  • Drkay: @jan2138 $AGNC I own $AGNC, $PMT, $CIM, $STWD, and $NRZ in my retirement account. Great dividends and consistent. 2 cents will decrease my dividend in $AGNC by $64/month, no big deal. Been trading REITS for 10 years. Let's talk...
  • Drkay: @jan2138 #Dividend #Dividend - very nice summary. I've been trading the divi run-up in REITS on and off over the past 10 years. The system works well but you have to scrutinize the trade action right before and after ex date. I've done very well with $NRZ, $AGNC, $CIM, and $PMT. Sometime a public offering will take place on the REITS. I found purchasing the next day (low price) and wait two weeks will net some nice gains. So if you can capture the divi gains, take a small loss on selling the stock, it is a net-net positive for your trading account. Capital gains of the divi, loss on the stock.
  • Drkay: I have owned and traded REITS for many years. Can't beat the 10+% yield. Consider $PMT, $CIM, $AGNC, $NRZ, and $SWDT. They are easy to trade if you so desire, but must wait for public offerings for price to decrease, wait 3 weeks and back to original price, repeat as often as desired. In the meanwhile reinvest the divi.
  • Drkay: @mopick $WPC $O #Reits $PMT $CIM $AGNC $NRZ $SWDT avatar I have owned and traded REITS for many years. Can't beat the 10+% yield. Consider $PMT, $CIM, $AGNC, $NRZ, and $SWDT. • Lavrock: $TWO $TWOPRA $PMT $PMTPRA - Recently, we had a thread regarding the $TWO cumulative preferred. Someone commented yesterday about hoping to add on a pullback as it has steadily moved up and now trades for 25.90. Currrent yield is 7.85%. An alternative idea is the $PMT, Pennymac Mortgage Investment Trust, cumulative preferred that was issued in early March. It is trading today at 25.30. The fixed rate of return is 8.125% (about 8% at today's price). This is the same coupon rate as the $TWO preferred. The Pennymac preferred is callable after March 15, 2024 (TWO is not callable until April 27, 2027). The PMT preferred resets after March 2024 to three month LIBOR plus 5.821% (TWO resets after April 2027 to LIBOR plus 5.660%). Final comment: dividends on these preferreds are not qualified and do not get the lower tax rate under the current law.
  • rnrdallas: bobbybe- if you want to play in this area maybe a basket is safer. Give these a look $ARCP, $CMO, $MAIN, $PMT, $NRF, own then all. The thing that concern me most, been watching $EFC, is coming out of the last #squeeze it is bouncing along and below the lower BB. The Div. are lower but the stocks are safer. Hope this helps.
  • rnrdallas: yeildhogs: this sector has treated me very well the past year. After the "taper" scare the stronger ones have done held up and came back strong, love the yields. Currently holding $ARCP, $CMO, NRC, $PMT,

  • Joedibr: @Jan2138 - If you have a few minutes can you give some insight as to when it is appropriate to sell a yield hog, when the cap gains are up a certain 5 , or the #dividend drops to a certain %? I have an lot of capital gains in great yield hogs like $AGNC, CYC, $PSEC, $MTGE, $PNNT, $FSC, $PMT & ARI. I stair at them all day long and wonder when do I sell them?/ Any insight you can provide will be much appreciated. I have never done as well as following you concepts.
  • cmac: re $PMT @jan2138 last 7 divs have been .42 ,.42, .42, .50, .50, .55, .55 going back to 3Q2011 up to 5/14/12 declaration. If you'd like to learn more about the company, I suggest looking at the Q32011 Investor Day Presentation that lays out their business strategy. This can be found on the Investor Relations tab on their website.
  • cmac: re $PMT yesterday several people asked about div history. The past 7 divs have been .42 ,.42, .42, .50, .50, .55, .55 going back to 3Q2011 up to 5/14/12 declaration. If you'd like to learn more about the company, I suggest looking at the Q32011 Investor Day Presentation that lays out their business strategy. This can be found on the Investor Relations tab on their website. mistakenly I posted this on yesterday's board, so I will copy & paste here.
  • Joedibr: $PMT - @jan2138, can you comment on the $PMT news today. I am very happy with with this one, have a great entry price, well below the new offering, looking to add?
  • cmac: $PMT mortgage reit that priced a secondary offering today. 11.3% yield, and good looking chart. I've added to this yield hog this morning in my ira's. Next ex divy date is right around the corner - May 14th.
  • Henry: $PMT Yahoo says it is 2.20/yr. I can't think of a single #yieldhog that doesn't have the #dividend clearly listed in a link off the Investors Relations page or have it clearly mentioned in the recent press releases. The company is run by Countrywide's #2 man and associates. Well maybe that explains it. Burn in hell comes to mind. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/04/business/04penny.html?pagewanted=all

  • debrup: Volatility #Squeeze Scan: $PDII LPX SFSF CELG $ED NYX $AET CI NETL FTEK $MRK SPF $AMTD PCP $CFN JDSU $ED UA $ACI X $PMT AMLN $AXL EXC. These were the more interesting looking charts from a scan on the Russel 3000 stocks. Maybe there are some in this list that you can use. These are squeezes and please be aware as @Henry said in his comment above, they can resolve up as well as down. As we saw with $JOE last week, oops. The way I play these is by setting an price alert where i think expansion resolves to the upside. Have a great weekend all.
  • Henry: $BHP RIO In last night's forum we were discussing a new Austrailian tax of 40% on resource companies. bookter wanted to know where I got a quote last night. It was a big graphic displayed on #CNBC Asia by the guy with the spikey hair. You can read more (the tax not the punk hair) at the street.com http://tinyurl.com/24s7ube @Hwyflier Not crazy about your abbreviation for before market, how about $PMT pre-market tomorrow? @Henry spelling edit
