- Margi1983: $SLM. Great weekly. Bouncing at the 8 ema today. Low risk entry with the stop below the 8 ema
- Margi1983: $SLM. Just found this name. They service loans for higher education and run UPromise and Sallie Mae. Nice weekly chart here and the daily is sitting on the 8 ema. Anyone own this one?
- Margi1983: @Margi1983 $SLM Hey Lady @debeers. As our fundie queen, have you looked at $SLM before. Solid earnings growth and sales growth with a 48% net margin. Highly leveraged. Any interest in this name?

- woodman: #CreditServices $COF $SLM $ENVA $EZPW - continuing the discussion below, upon my fairly quick pass-through of the #CreditServices industry stocks on TC2000, these caught my interest: $COF $SLM $ENVA, and I remain a fan of $EZPW. Also $SQ, mentioned by Steve below, looks good too.
- woodman: @FHS $LC #CreditServices - Excellent work! Congrats. This one is new to me, but yeah, I can see why you sold it and it looks like you did perfectly. I have no idea what caused it to jump (earnings?) but I'd be inclined to let it let it cool off some before getting back in. I was fishing for another credit services stock to add to my holdings and saw LC as I waded thru the charts. I have $EZPW still (getting squeezer-ish), but sold my $YRD to bank some green; I'd like back in YRD eventually but not here. Also catching my eye in the sector: $ONDK $AXP $SLM $WU $FCFS
- FHS: @woodman $LC $EZPW $YRD $ONDK $AXP $SLM $WU $FCFS #CreditServices Greetings! Yes, I believe it was an earnings jump, but why I don't know. I tried reading them, but out of boredom turned to "War and Peace" instead. There still seems to be a lot of negative commotion regarding the company, so I thought it best to be cautious, maybe overly so. Thanks for pointing the others out. I will take a look. Cheers.
- bigbartabs: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices ... volume... this has been bothering me for some time. With a rally like we have had, it just seemed to me that we should have had more volume to back it up. Almost seems like there has been something wrong with my charts for the last month. I wonder if the low volume (trickling in each day) was the reason the rally just kept going for so long. Just a few traders / investors finally buying into it each day. Odd.
- bigbartabs: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM $SPY #CreditServices ... just saw your 5:03pm post. My earlier thoughts exactly.
- woodman: @bigbartabs $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM $SPY #CreditServices I like volume as much as the next person, but we just haven't been getting it yet stocks have gone up. In fact, this has been the case for years. We've had low volume in $SPY for years yet seen a continued move up for SPY. Not until summer 2015 did the price of SPY level off.
- woodman: #CreditServices (TC2000) have been on fire. Here are some that caught my eye: $YRD - Everyone's darling rocket ship ipo. $PYPL - @aragorn has been pounding the table. Res ipsa loquitur. $AXP - I've been long this one. Easy rider; no Tums needed. $DFS - nice like AXP. $FSC - watch to see if can get thru the 50 day. $TCAP performing well and sports a 10.5 div yield. $CSH, $AGM, $NNI, $GDOT- exhibiting escape velocity and still lifting. $QIWI $OMF, $PHH - up thru the 50 day with room to continue up. $ENVA - creeping higher; buying on pullback to 50 day would be nicer. $MGI - maybe.... $FCFS - looks like phase 2. Watch for phase 3. $COF, $MA and $NAVI - good runs, but nearing 200 day now. $WU - 200 day now support. $SLM - messy but directionally pleasing.
- TunaHelper: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Just a quick thought: You might want to look at these through the lens of volume (e.g., is the volume increasing?, is it consistently above 50dma of volume). That being said, volume today is very light across the board / generally in the market.
- woodman: @TunaHelper $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Yes, volume is down across the board. I didn't have such a micro one-day view. I like the direction and potential of these, but I leave to you and others to figure out which ones you might like best. I'm just pointing you to what is working. It's for you to drill down and find out what works for you and your style.
- TunaHelper: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices The low volume on some of the listed tickers has been for more than one day. More generally across the board today has been a low volume day in the market.
- woodman: @TunaHelper $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Seriously, are you giving me a hard time for providing the fruit of my labor. Are you asking me to do additional work when I've been nice enough to give ideas during the trading day. My response to your other comment made me miss the close and something I planned on buying. That was stupid of me. I've provided 19 ideas in one list. If you don't like a stock, don't buy it. All the stocks have potential or have done extremely well already. If some aren't to your liking b/c you want more volume, fine, avoid those stocks.
- woodman: @TunaHelper $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices CSH - up nearly 40% in a little over a month. Pretty much up every day. You could have bought and made a ton of money or said -oh my, it's lower volume than the rest of the Market is having, so I won't buy it. The stock doesn't care that you lost out, but it's a free country and it's your decision, even if not necessarily the right one.
- TunaHelper: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Seriously, you are misreading my note. I was not attacking you personally, not giving you a hard time, nor asking you to do additional work; rather, I was offering some additional information to consider. That's it. Relax. I was just pointing out that some of the stocks on the list had weak volume recently - and is another technical metric to think about when determining whether to buy or not. One of my rules is "Volume never lies, but price does sometimes." It has proved helpful for getting into good trades and avoiding hazardous ones. In any case, if you took my comments as a personal attack, please note that it was not.
- woodman: @TunaHelper $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Have you even looked at the volume in $SPY since the 2/11 triple bottom? Go ahead, check it out. It has been terrible. Every single day but one since 2/11 has had volume UNDER avg. 50 day volume. If you've stayed on the sideline lamenting the lousy volume, you've completely missed out on this move.
- Hackberry: @woodman $YRD $PYPL $AXP $DFS $FSC $TCAP $CSH $AGM $NNI $GDOT $QIWI $OMF $PHH $ENVA $MGI $FCFS $COF $MA $NAVI $WU $SLM #CreditServices Thanks for the tickers. Banging through the charts now.

- woodman: $SLM - also squeezing into a rising 50 day. Earnings July 17.
- debeers: SLM-with all the freakin' loan forgiveness going around, isn't it nice to know as an investor that $SLM loans are non-recourse. Which, by the way, means thse folks can pester you to the grave and beyond.Even declaring bankruptcy has no effect on these loans. Why beyond? 70% of their loans are now co-signed loans, also the $FICO standards have gone up. In reviewing their blance sheet, I noticed that the default rate was down 55bps for May. An easier metric is this one: with a 8.4% growth rate and a 9.4 p/e, they are almost selling for tangible book (which means they are dirt cheap).Almost totally insti owned and a Leon Cooperman fave for years, the stock has a target of between 27 and 28 on it. I modeled 28 like Credit Suisse which isn't a lead pipe cinch but even at 27, that is a 15% upside

- dr.orangejuicer: $SLM - Up another 2.7% as I type. In a note put out this morning, $FBR Capital reiterated it's positive stance on $SLM with a $19 price target. Added yesterday, as forum regulars may already know. I think this one's going much higher. EDIT: Check out the weekly chart.
- issues: $SLM Thanks Dr Orange juicer. I took a hit on $SLW and was looking for some @silver to go up and not sink like a rock or piece of @silver. Although you mentioned $SLM a few days ago I forgot until you mentioned it again. A big thanks (so far - that is!)
- dr.orangejuicer: $SLM - Have owned this for a few weeks (a long time for me!) and just noticed that it's up nearly 5% today. Apparently there were some management changes announced that the market has taken a liking to. $SLM has been consolidating for about a year and appears ripe for a move higher. Barron's had a very favorable writeup a couple weekends back (see the gap). BBs starting to expand on the weekly, old high of 14 approaching quickly. Actually tempted to add #rhrn.
- dr.orangejuicer: $SLM - Added a few minutes ago @ 13.26. 3/4 position with a decent profit on my initial 1/2 position.

Looks like some heavy dip buying from 10.76 this morning and $SLM is trying to find support at it's 50day EMA, which has proven to be a nice buy point over the last few months. $SLM reports after the close on Tuesday and may surprise to the upside which it has done in the last two quarters. This was #Cramer's 2009 speculative pick of the year and he mentioned after they blew-out Q3 that he thought it may have more upside. Looks interesting here.

HumanGeorge: $SLM
I just looked at the weekly chart, and it looks strong as death. From a weekly view, it is definitely breaking out of a tight volatility #squeeze. I think it has more upside throughout the end of the year. It is $NOW going on my super radar, ... - HumanGeorge: $SLM I'll never begrudge someone for taking profits. Nice job @hwyflier...
- hwyflier: F: Addendum: Still, it has been in a downtrend for quite some time and now seems to be bouncing off the 50d perhaps in it's much needed reversal? The chart looks much like $SLM today.
- cmac: $SLM housekeeping note: I took my stop on $SLM today....definitely not the type of stock to own in a broad mkt selloff (ie, like any high beta or small cap).
- cmac: re $SLM $RF, you picked out one of my favs. I like the long tails on the bars for the past week or so, while holding the 50ema very well. Consolidating for the past several months, so something violent will happen one way or another. I've been slowly building this position.
- cmac: $SLM my $SLM alert just fired...broken thru #200ema resistance and broke downtrending line connecting bars since July. Evidence of volume confirmation, but will wait for another 15min bar to help confirm. Also, I hate buying when SP500 is at resistance, but will probably adhere to my style and pickup a starter position.
- ntheway: Lilly- have you seen EXM?? I was hoping that $NM or $DSX might go with her. Nope. $SLM was 10.47- 9 days ago so I'm watching to see if it will dip again.I would like to short $LNC but I can't decide where to get in on the daily 5 min chart.Same with HIG. These 2 stocks are crap. Should be about 6.00 on hope.
- cmac: $GIS,PEP, $CL, hard buys here as they do seem extended....I've been burned before on buying after 4-5 up days. Anyone looking at $SLM ? #200sma now providing support
- nimbl: $SPR, $FCS and $SLM took profits in my $FCS at $7.55 and $SLM at $8.67; long only $SPR but I am feeling trigger happy. tired of round tripping so many times in last couple weeks. I plan to stand aside and focus on SEMI group as @DAN suggested. MY favorite is $FCS on weakness. Still eyeing BRCD(networker).
- nimbl: $SLM bought small position at 8.25 today on pullback from gapup opening; Wouldn't surprise me to hear #Cramer mention it tonight with regard to news out last night. Kass fav aswell. Looking to add on pullbacks with stop below 20day sma. Note:stopped out of $DAR today too bad so sad.
- strickland411: $SLM, $LNC @Nimbl, I did the same thing - got a very small position at $8.28. Did the same with $LNC at $15.79. Haven't done anything else today, except watch my $BAC holdings make back some of what I've lost the last two days.
- nimbl: $SLM, $FCS, $SPR small position longs tonight. Bought back some $FCS because I just cant help myself. I expect some broker comments tomorrow on SLM. A good evening to all!
- nimbl: $SLM and $SPR 2 stocks on my radar; I am interested on pullbacks only; hoping for gaps to be filled in next couple of days on each for lower risk entries.

Shares of $SLM Corp., or Sallie Mae, ran up 6% to $21.17, and has now gained 22% amid a 4-session winning streak. - theturkeybone: I studied a bit of psychology in school, so the mental game really fascinates me -- I just listened to the $SLM call and Im really stunned that the CEO seemed so annoyed and out of touch with the investors. I mean -- he lost himself and the company a LOT of money and having that paraded around is surely a sore spot, heh. But what hope is there from coming back from such a public snafu (at the very least, they cut the 'lets get the f out of here' on the transcript)?
- suzie76040: @Bob: RE: $AXE I don't know how an institution can have 113.4% of a stock. I am not concerned about the short ratio. As far as I am concerned, the stock is in an uptrend. We've had good movement for several days now so it may cause a mini #squeeze. Who knows. $SLM has been halted.
- BBortner: Wow, congrats to any $SLM holders. This article might boost some seismic energy stocks tomorrow. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070415/seismic_boom.html?.v=3
