Yes, the implied move is the % move that a stock price will go up or down based on a binary event (i.e. earnings report). Dan has a great tutorial video on how to calculate this subject. Go to the videos section and you should easily find it. No, I don't have any specific IC plans for next week's earnings. I leave the IC recommendations to @bridget or @dan.

  • 1Boston330: $TITN @ hooked1. I can't believe this. I just this moment finished researching $TITN and started to make this post when I read yours. I'm down 16% on a small position. Long common. I'm adding a small position #rhrn. I think the risk is well defined and not that great and the daily is in an uptrend.
  • boba: $TITN - Careful; I believe it is $TWI, @Titan International who just signed a new labor agreement. I've been watching this, too.
  • Lou: $TITN TWI - are you sure you have the right company? $TWI just signed such contracts and announced hiring. Long $TWI short $TWI puts
  • hooked1: $TWI makes the tires and it's riskier than $TITN, the machinery company which has a bullish engulfing candle today. I was looking at both and got the tickers switched. My apologies. I meant to post about $TWI the tire company.

  • hooked1: $TITN - @Titan Machinery. Mentioned to watch this a week or so ago. @Textbook bounce off the 100 today. Keep it on your radar!
  • hooked1: $TITN - @Titan machinery. Not sure where I originally got it; may have been on the forum a while back. Anyway, they make agricultural equipment and market in mid-west $USA and in Europe. They've been posting very strong profits along with good guidance. Today is not your day to add, but you might want to place it on your watch list.
  • C.K.: $TITN - $33.97 nice consolidation along the rising 10D $MA 33.20 Staying long. $CAT reports $BMO Wednesday
  • JimT: $TITN - Take a look. Stock is back down where it reported real good earnings.
  • C.K.: $TITN - I went long again this a.m. Holding support here. $TITN was clearing outside the upper BB last Friday, then came the sell off plus the announcement of the covertible bond offering did not help. Has settled down now. Good luck if you went long. The earnings and guidance were great and should resume upward $IMO
  • BlackBird: $TITN Anybody have any thoughts on this chart pattern. Looks to be moving up off previous support (see monthly chart).
  • Martin L: $MTW TEX TITN- $MTW & $TEX rallied on great earnings from $TITN on 4/11 and pulled back a little. They both are above all MA's and look good to go now. $TITN working on Phase 2. All three are light machinery . JOYG, heavy equipment, mainly coal, is also looking good.
  • C.K.: $TITN - This agricultural and construction equipment company has been on a tear since it reported earnings two days ago. One of my favorite longs this week. It is definitely working. However, after 3 days of upside and a new high I expect a PB. I am also long $CAT
  • C.K.: Fertilizer & Ag Equipmt stocks - went long $CF, $CAT, and $TITN yesterday. $TSCO guidance higher helps and low nat gas helps the fertilizer stocks. I see $CAT making a run into earnings, at least to the 50D $110 area. I love $TITN prior to its earnings report which even surprised me because they did make some acquisitions which I thought may temper the earnings report. Those acquisitions only helped its long term growth.
  • hackerman1: MGM- looks like it will close 3 out of 4 days above 50 day ma. since the move above the 50 on descent volume 12/27 has been consolidating their on lower volume for the last 3 days. the online gambling catalyst and improving domestic economy and spending could make this a stock for 2012. held up very well in todays down move and sitting near the high of the day. has been trading sideways for over a month. looks like the downtrend was broken at about 9.51 and a break above 10.6 could be the start of something. a pullback near 9.83 and move higher would be nice. also $TITN nice day with good future prospects.

  • Beangirl: $TITN - Looks like a phase 3 stock, don't know much about it except its in an uptrend a looks ready to more. May want to keep it on the radar.
  • antfarm: $TITN I went back and pulled up @Dan's IPO review from July-2008. Took a quick then and now look. This one popped out as a candidate to put on the radar. Nice up-trend started in mid July with the $MBB showing a line of support. Has stair stepped up over the last 6 weeks. Not an ideal entry at this point as the price is midway in the upper half of the channel. @Jon
  • Dave: $TITN - Acquisition strategy paying dividends. Stock is up 13% on earnings and busting out of a triangle. If crop prices strengthen, this could have a lot more gas in the tank.
  • tjaramil: $TITN - I pointed out a while back that support of 11.60 was holding and I started a position. Business is booming, took some profits today though.
  • tjaramil: $TITN - bounced near the $11.65 support that has held many times. Started a position @11.75.
  • Dave: $TITN - This is a slow as molasses stock. I like it and think that they have a great business plan. But owning it (and I do) makes watching paint dry look exciting. If crop prices would perk up just a little, this stock would probably do better.
  • Russ: $TXN, $ADY, $TITN, $CME Four volatility squeezes to monitor from four different sectors.
  • maher_79: $TITN - Watching this today to see if it will have a continuation of a #squeeze breakout that started Thursday. Solid company that have a great balance sheet.
  • maher_79: $TITN - I got in on $TITN yesterday and hoping for a breakout continuation today :)
  • Sizzle: Farm & Machinery Sector - $TITN - @Titan Machinery makes and sells farm machinery. Check out their Volatility #Squeeze right now. It really looks like it is wanting to hop on that upper Bollinger Band for a ride during a Volatility Expansion and is right on the cusp of closing above the 20 SMA, 50 EMA and 200 EMA, which are all bunched together. If I could see a solid close and a little more accumulation, this could have the potential to pop big.
  • butticelt: Sizzle: $TITN - Wahooo, Dave....dat's pretty! Volume actually pretty good and short interest nice, too. (I'll go check sec.gov and see if there are any convertible issues there). Thanks! Kim edit: trading at only 1.3x book and $4.45/sh. in cash (according to Scottrade). Very nice! Alert set @ $12.90. May not have long to wait...
  • tinman8197: $TITN Been watching since your post and researching still running I can't find the catalyst any more info sure looks right started small position
  • maher_79: $TITN - I love this stock. Great company with great balance sheet. I've been buying and selling this stock for over 6 months now. I have few shares ridding this up move. $TITN has missed the recent rally and it is about to move. Very undervalued in my opinion.
  • Sizzle: Staying with the ag theme, but taking it over to another sector, $TITN is a farm machinery company that has been buying up all sorts of smaller distributorships. This is a stock that also hasn't participated in the rally but is in OK technical shape (not good, not bad, just OK). May be worth a spot on a Watch List, especially if ag continues to do well. They are also a relatively new listing - December 2007.
  • CallaLilly: A list of companies reporting Thursday ... $AMRB, $APH, AMLN, $ASBC, $BAX, $BIIB, $BGG, CHINA, CHIC, $CRRC, $CY, $CYT, $FCS, $GCI, $GPC, $GOOG, $HOG, $ICUI, $ITW, $IIIN, $ISRG, $JPM, $KNL, MSW, $MYE, $NOK, $PH, $PBCT, $PII, $PPG, RLRN, $SHW, $SFNC, $SON, $LUV, $TPX, $TITN, $UTEK, $UMPQ, $USAK, WASC, VRTX.
  • Sizzle: Long $NM, and $WFT for quite a while now and write covered calls around my positions, in addition to channel trading them. Spec holdings in SDTH, AOB, $ROSG and PWAV also for a while. Long oil and associated companies through $UCO, $ESV, $DBC (which I'll probably sell soon just because it's too duplicative with UCO), (and WFT). Long $RAH, $DSX, $TITN and $RRD just in the last week or two. Long gold and platinum through ETF's. Short the US Dollar thru UDN. And short the S&P through common and Puts just a little. I don't like having this many positions but with those spec positions and the hedges, I rationalize its OK.
  • Russ: Hi, Suzie! Nice to hear from you. And thanks for your helpful comments to me this past year. Hope all is well there in No. TX. It's 0 degrees and 5 inches of snow a few @miles north of you here in Nebraska. My wood stove is burning though the oak and ash today. $DSX and a few others of note. Not recommendations (not a buy day for me) but might be of interest: $DSX pulled back to 50dma and holding so far (but it's a shipper and volatile) $TITN pulled back to its 20 and 50 dma $TSCO at the bottom of its range and lower BB $KDN riding its 50dma though not yet turned upward $FLR pulled back close to its 50dma $PNRA pulled back to a possible higher low (?) at its 20 dma Russ
  • Russ: It's interesting to see some volatility squeezes begin to emerge. For examples to observe, not nec buy, $TFX abv 50dma $AZN abv 50dma $UTX abv 50dma $AMED And $TITN emerged from a vol sq abv the 50 dma and is now in a pullback.

Have scaled into(and taken some profits) in $ACM, $CRH, $CX, $FLR, $VMC, SGR, and PWR. What do you guys think about water and utilities? Specifically, @Dan do you follow CWT--California water? I'm looking at E as well
  • orthodoc: IRON MAN IS KING Cool high tech movie moves $MRVL, bought early today with 2% trailing stop. Bought $UWM, $UXI early with 2% trailing stop. Have buy stop on PDA at 31.5; $NKE at 55 and $TITN at 13.2 with 2% trailing stop contingency orders. I'm like @Dan, may have to buy some breakouts from consolidation, if we are in a temporary uptrend. Some have mentioned biotechs, do you all mean index or specific stocks? and also, for solars, do you all like index or specific stocks? Thanks!!!!!!
  • Bob: Hey Team You know how @Dan has explained how if a 3rd standard deviation on BB's are hit that we might look for a pullback to about the 2nd standard deviation? I'm pretty sure his example was for a breakout upwards but for the heck of it, I took a recent list of IBD 100's and looked to see how many traded down to a low 3rd std today. Not recommending anything but here's the list...thought a few might enjoy looking at some of the names and or charts. $TITN $SKH $BKE $CMP $CSX $DXPE $ESI $FLS $FMC GMXR $HES $HUBG $IIIN $IIVI $IT KNDL $KOP $KSU $LMIA $SKH $OLN $SYNA $TESO $TISI $URBN $VMI $WAB WGOV add most of the ags to that list too. I'm sure there are dozens more, just used an IBD 100 list for source.
  • Bob: $DE (Suzie's), $CAT and $TITN down ... $TITN has earnings on Monday so may not be down as much but no reason to long any of them I can see.

  • gamma: bone - take a look at last weekend's thread. $TITN was discussed ...It's also on my radar.
  • pesmas: Some of the tickers on my watch list that are not #financials were up nicely today: $DCI - 3+%; ENER - 7+%; WGOV - 5+%; $CAT - 5+%, $TITN -5+%; $WLT - 8+%. Remember how the #financials led the rally after the 3/17 crash? What a frightening thought. I don't have the nerve to buy 'em, even though I "should have" today. @Mary Ann
  • med.medicine: @Gamma: Did you get into $TITN at around 24? It is around 25.80. When things starts to fall we turn around :) I got into $SQNM this morning. I was really very eager to hit the buy button for $WM at 3.51 (was nice +ve divergence 10 d chart) for a quick trade but I could not dare. My 1st target was 3.85, 2nd one 4.20. It went to 4.19 before it reversed. I can consider this as my good paper trade :) @Dan: I myself got locked in couple of months ago by logging into 2 different laptops at home. Hope you figure out some way with some tech guy to get rid of this issue! Team: $BRCM forming ascending triangle? Also in a #squeeze! $CALM looks nice. Holding above 34.
  • gamma: med - You had the right call - $TITN buy above 28 - and so I'm waiting. Price action doesn't look too good now, tho volume is lo. Price swings today are really something. I'm sitting on cash and a couple of option spreads. Waiting ....

Realestate I agree with your analysis.

  • theturkeybone: $TITN -- dipped and moved higher for five days in a row now.
  • theturkeybone: $TITN also continuing its run.. I think I read bearish article (just on valuation) this weekend, but the stock continues to move.. low volume dip in the beginning which is followed by some strong buying.. which has been the same pattern for the past few days. I'd still wait for the pullback but the two days after it crushed earnings it touched 30 bucks, so maybe that was all it was going to pullback for now.
  • theturkeybone: I'm sitting at BWI looking forward to what all the fuss about flying is about (this is my first flight in 10 years.. Im sure its like breathing to many of you), and I wanted to note that my old friend $JRCC was up today... the intraday low was 3 cents off yesterdays low. $TITN as well, was up.. wednesdays intraday low was 30ish, yesterday was 31, today was 32. It's getting VERY narrow out there and it looks like Plan A -- where nothing leads and people freak out, is a distinct possibility.
  • theturkeybone: $TITN -- We talked about this stock yesterday as they crushed their earnings, and moved about 11%. Today the stock is up another 6%, now hanging out between 32.50 and 33. I sold this one after earnings, so I put some nice coin in the pocket.. this is two days completely outside the upper BB! I'll get in when it pulls back though.. company looks like its doing the right stuff.

  • sleepyf18: Initial reports of $TITN earnings are that it beat. I'm still looking for more info. @Titan Machinery Reports Q4 $0.27 v $0.21
  • Bob: Med -- today is a shakeout and that's good. I bought $POT, $SID, $NEU and $TITN as they are in the sectors the market tell me is working and the entries were good. RIMM is the only tech I follow that seems to be doing quite well. $AAPL will regain that confidence eventually but will wait for end of day trading to check further.
  • tmjska: Re: TITN. @Bob, I am long TITN. A bit concerned about the earnings report from $CNH this morning - great earnings but did not live up to expectations. $CNH makes machinery $TITN distributes. $CNH is down some $10 as I type (at $46.15). The market $CNH covers is the entire world. $TITN distributes only in the US.
  • Bob: I blew off my $NEU and $TITN buys with a loss. They were sloppy trades and not well executed. Poor analysis of market movement on my part too. Couple of others working out okay. @Dan: I think the charts are okay but are just not showing the emotion very clearly. Anxious to get into the final hour here....
  • med.medicine: TEAM: I am reposting this news which i did on friday evening. New Potash company IPO coming up- Ticker: $IPI http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080418/intrepid_potash_ipo.html?.v=1 I guess this will be great opportunity to get in as $POT & $MOS are little too pricey for me. Stock chart looks nice, some broke upside from #squeeze on good volume. $TITN, $CMI, $SLB, $EGY, $SAY, $WFT, $NTRI
  • sleepyf18: Springcreek...bought a small position in $TITN during the mid-morning low after it bounced off the 8dma (or close to it),and liked how it ended the day. Sellers did their best to knock it down, but despite their best efforts, it closed well above the open. Don't know where it goes from here, but if it truly follows $AG stocks, it should move nicely higher during the week in anticipation of $POT earnings. BTW, nice follow up volume today from Friday's move.
  • springcreekvol: $TITN making a new high today. They report earnings on the 28'th. I still say they are going to pull a Linday (LNN) when they report. Might be a good one to put on your watch list.
  • aptgods: @SPRINGCREEKVOL: Wondering what your research reveals on TITN; was with you on LNN. Cannot find much on $TITN either way...Martha
  • DAN: Hey @springcreekvol: Yes, I do remember your comments re/ LNN. Great job on that one! I'll put $TITN on the watch list and will review it in tonight's market recap. Thanks for popping in.
  • tjaramil: I've been watching $TITN for some time now and it just keeps bouncing between the $17-20ish range for quite some time. One day it can be up big the next down big. I started a position back when it was in the mid 16's and sell every time it gets near 19. Now my strategy has changed to buy in the 17's sell in the high 19's. One thing I've noticed is that the major ag stocks tend to move first then TITN. I've used AGU/MON/POT as indicators of what direction $TITN is going to move toward.
