- joelsg1: @Mpower27 $TSLA Of course, I expected sell the news after an almost 40% ramp into yesterday's numbers and I trimmed some first 5 mins. yesterday, but while the move was expected, the magnitude was not. And with all the machines running this market, selling begets cascading selling until it stops, likely at the 8d $438. But the same dynamic works on the way back up. Still think ATH by 11/6 and I'm betting that way.

Insane $34 sell the news reaction to Boffo/record delivery/energy numbers, trimmed too little early but comforted by the fact that news usually takes about a week to price in. Troubling perhaps that they sold 50k more cars than they delivered, but Musk can ramp production as needed and has talked about producing vehicle every few seconds, and that energy number was fantastic. 8d at $440 is support.

- joelsg1: $TSLA Q3 auto deliveries probably Thurs. before open. Company IR issued consensus of 443k which I think they beat handily, perhaps 470K (including my new Y), if true avg. analyst target price now at $341 ( $100 below today's stock price) goes up, particularly if Musk indicates on E call (most probably on 10/22) that current rally has legs through new model, financing, energy deployment (fastest growing part of company) etc. into shareholders meeting/vote 11/6 on his massive new pay package. Long and hedged with short otm puts/calls.

Deliveries Thursday will help, so will the promised FSD update 14 this week and in my new Y with FSD I can speak to and interact with the new Grok using voice. I don't like that there is no express requirement for Musk to STFU politically, but that's just me, most probably won't care/notice. He bought $1B stock at $390 so that's support as if necessary he'll do it again (through proxies if he wants to follow the company's blackout prohibition on insider trading 2 weeks before Q end and up to 2 trading days after E). I sold a boatload of Oct. $385 puts back when he bought and they were priced much higher than now.

... - joelsg1: $TSLA Musk posted FSD v. 14.0 rolling out wide next week followed by updates 2 weeks later to 14.2 for which he claims "car will feel almost like it is sentient being by 14.2". Sold a few 10/10 $385 puts, the implied move down through that expiry. Might forestall a sell the news reaction to great Q3 delivery numbers out 10/2.
- joelsg1: $TSLA Still running into Q3 delivery numbers which should be out before open next Thursday, which might be record above 495k from Q4 2024. Extension of the EV credit for deals signed by 9/30 will help alleviate pull forward from Q4, but the end of that credit is actually a competitive advantage for $TSLA as their COGS are so much lower than everyone but the Chinese. And then there's the shareholders love fest on 11/6. Long.

But FSD still needs to learn edge cases like railroad crossings and construction zones, and you have to be a fool not to disengage in such circumstances. And on a separate note, the new Roadster is coming. Long but hedged with short otm puts/calls.

Think Otto the inflatable autopilot from Airplane!: grinning, puffed up with confidence, floating on air, at least, until the cones and flashing lights deflate his ego. Maybe Elon just needs to patch in a ‘Testosterone OFF’ button, so the car finally learns the lost art of asking for directions when it’s out of its depth.

But I knew that if I didn't sell some after that run up and the stock was down today I would have been much more upset with myself. That's trading!

- StockMarketMentor: Raising the stop on $TSLA Cost basis: 394.93 Original stop 360.90 New stop is 394.93. This eliminates the risk in this trade, locking in a worst-case scenario of break even. The stock is pulling back a bit from the open and could continue to retrace a bit. Nothing wrong with taking some quick profits on this pop -- at least a part of your position. --Dan

I criticized him for dripping out his selling for consecutive days on the open market instead of large block sales at a small discount when he tanked the stock in order to buy Twitter, enabling shorts to front run and exacerbate the price decline. - joelsg1: $TSLA The IRS has not extended the 9/30 expiration of the $7500 EV credit. A few weeks ago clarified that buyers/lessees get the credit so long as they ordered and made a down payment by the deadline. As I've noted, expiration of the credit will pull forward demand and juice the Q3 delivery numbers due out 10/2, but then US demand will probably drive off the cliff. Musk has warned of a few rough Qs into Q2 '26 which probably accounts for his $1B stock purchase juicing the stock today, but he'll have to come up with other levitation devices after this Q. But look how easy it is for him to do it! Still my 2nd largest pos., rolled all short calls up/out to $490 and above for credits (only roll for credits).
