- kenb: @RichardinME $AMD thanks for the heads up, I'm going to watch. I started investing in $AMD in 2018, and is my 2nd largest position after $NVDA. Lisa Su is very well respected by Wall Street because she pretty much does what she says she is going to do with no BS.
- RichardinME: @marklesparkle $AMD Agreed. I'm only doing 300 for a possible daytrade AH's. to get a percent. If it does not work out I don't mind holding the shares. Yes, I think AMD will be over 200 again soon!

- kenb: @RichardinME $AMD no, it didn't have any impact in the AH action. They painted a good roadmap on what they are doing to compete with $NVDA, but they are still number 2 by a wide margin. Pretty much what she did with $INTC in the CPU arena, and is winning that battle gaining market share from them. It's a long-term hold for me, so I'm not worried about daily action. And there were reports that $NVDA's Blackwell GPU is sold out for the next year. Will potential customers be able to wait that long, and $AMD's offerings are cheaper. So, they will sell, it depends on how much they can sell. One take-away from her CNBC interview tonight, is that they didn't announce any new customers at the event, so that is one negative that the analysts picked up on.

- joelsg1: $TSLA October 10 setting up to be a crucial day for a few companies: $TSLA has its Robotaxi event, $AMD has its AI day and $MCD is teasing something. Long but hedged the first but thinking it's a sell the event, CIO another top executive departing and Musk's incessant politicking is like negative advertising causing a drag on sales; $AMD hanging just above the 200d with E 10/29 nothing special but perhaps a boost for my largest investment holding $NVDA, and $MCD in small riding the 8d as they've turned around their pricing and suspect some new automation initiative to cut costs, maybe an Optimus robot flipping burgers/fries.

- champ: $AMD....they keep nibbling around $156 to $157......they are trying to hold, however Red-stairs continue......now broke thur that $156 price level....should get some type of a small bounce...RHRN.
- champ: $AMD...had a #U-turn $154.60, now we will see if it grows legs and this needs the $QQQ to help it and so does $NVDA...for Day-trades.
- phgruver: @champ $AMD $QQQ $NVDA #U-turn $NVDA is only 8% of $QQQ, whereas it is over 21% of $SMH. As for "competition", $AMD and $INTC are the only credible competitors, both having respectable 3-D Graphics Processors of their own. AI, of course, is a different animal, but it is being built on 3-D Graphics Processors. What $NVDA is trying to do is create a special processor that is optimized for AI. You think that $INTC and $AMD aren't working on it as well? The "moat" on this isn't as wide as some people think. $NVDA has a head start, but there are some really sharp chip designers who don't work for $NVDA....

Seems $AMD doesn't want to compete with $SMCI, but let's see who buys that biz. Added $SMCI.

- vitoB: with people dumping $INTC, the domestic fab production trade should still be on, it takes them a couple years, so of course there's $MU $TXN and spec is $WOLF, none of them would be for logic, also $AMD used to be in development with $GFS before the Saudi's backed the ny fab expansion, I could see a future development where $AMD decides (or gets forced to by market) to combine forces with $INTC and help them run wafers...totally spitballin, but in any case these names are coming back in and looking where to buy is my focus
- RichardinME: $NVDA This is a tricky stock. We all know it has not traded well but most of us thought it would be good for a long-term hold. The one thing that is new to this stock is that it was never really volatile except for upwards momentum AE. Now Tuesday and Wednesday it made about a 20 percent move to the upside mostly on $AMD guidance. So it did push through the 50 and 21 EMA but sliced back thorough them to the downside much it did to the upside. It's like the charts don't seem to matter anymore?

- RichardinME: @woodman $NVDA I'm still pretty new and find this stock very difficult to trade/or even hold. Rode it down to the 100 level, did not add as it was broken, and watched it go to 120 on probably what was $AMD and it's guidance. So I kept it thinking now downtrend is broken instead of selling at 120. I guess the support/resistance and up/downtrends don't work as well with $NVDA or any other stock when you have the $QQQ moving as much as 3 percent in a couple of hours.
- woodman: @RichardinME $NVDA $AMD $QQQ - NVDA has had a number of excellent runs, followed by a long consolidation or sizable pullback prior to the next great run. Last pullback was about 22% from its then ath, taking the stock below the 50d where it steadied itself over a week or more, then moved up again. Here we are now on a 27% move down off the current ath, dwelling below the 50d again over the last week or so. We'll see what happens this time around. Earnings are around the end of the month (estimated). I think we'll want to be in for them or for a run into them, but the macro picture may have something to say about that.

I suggest not focusing on $NVDA. Take note of the post I just made in this Trading Room, with a diagram of $NVDA. ... - woodman: @ZMan2 $MSFT $NVDA $ARM - the question for me on the charts are what the chip stocks do when they hit overhead major moving averages: $AMD the 200d (repelling thus far after just about hitting it this morning) and $NVDA & $ARM the 50d. Are these rollover spots or just very temporary obstacles soon to be overcome? FOMC decision this afternoon, $META tonight, $AMZN and $AAPL tomorrow, and Friday jobs report could give us the answer to these questions. Expect some volatility.
