  • scottrades: $NVDA trying to bounce off the low. Watch for a close over 170, to fill the gap. (10 min chart attached)
  • djgustoso: $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA anyone know what hit these names today?
  • ReneeH: @djgustoso $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA supply selling.
  • peterd: @ReneeH $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA Take a look at $XLF, $JPM, $C - Financials taking a hit.
  • ReneeH: @peterd $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA $XLF $JPM $C thanks for validating, just reviewing $XLF, I'm one of the og believers in dow theory, confidence with XLF trending, not so hot when it's breaking down.
  • ReneeH: @peterd $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA $XLF $JPM $C fwiw, imo potential for bearish divergence here forming RSI/macd.
  • PhilHarmonic: @djgustoso $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA Profit taking. Money raised for rotation into other stocks. Supply selling occurs when more investors want to sell a stock than buy it. This increases the supply relative to demand, which causes the stock's price to fall. A sharp downward move on a chart indicates a high concentration of sellers, creating a "supply zone" where prices are likely to fall.
  • joelsg1: $AVGO Happy for the beat/raise and last night's call spreads have filled, almost 2x the implied move, but it's a bit much to reprice $NVDA on these results as it's not a zero-sum game. Watching that $165 level for Nov. spreads and started a few $165-190s.
  • peterd: @ReneeH $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA $XLF $JPM $C Can you post a chart show the divergence?
  • ReneeH: @peterd $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA $XLF $JPM $C not easily. Have a look at the daily with the bearish engulfing candle, weekly compare RSI here, curling down, vs prior levels at highs nov & jan, it's a thing imo. But time will tell.
  • joelsg1: @djgustoso $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA For $NVDA, money moving to $AVGO after last night's E because underweight compared with $NVDA which everyone owns (for good reasons). For PMs, they'll want to show $AVGO on their holdings sheets at end of this month/Q. This rotation won't last too long.
  • curtis: @scottrades $NVDA (Still holding long from 122.64), I think this can go lower, before going higher.
  • kenb: @djgustoso $SCHW $PLTR $HOOD $NVDA here's what Barrons is saying. Shares of Charles Schwab , Robinhood, other brokerage firms, and banks dropped after a disappointing jobs report raised concerns the economy is weakening and increased the likelihood the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates. On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the U.S. economy added just 22,000 jobs in August, well below the 76,500 analysts were expecting. The government also revised nonfarm payrolls for June and July lower. If the Federal Reserve lowers interest rates to spur economic growth, that likely would hurt net interest income, a key source of profit for banks, brokerages, and wealth management companies. NII is the difference between what banks earn on interest-bearing assets and the interest they pay to depositors.

Bottom line, stocks are still looking strong in the short and medium term, and even with Tech slowing down a bit, you may remember Dan noting he did not want to pile into $NVDA just yet on this dip. They haven't shown much weakness and are still hol ...

  • DAN: @scottrades $QQQ $SPY $AAPL $SIL $XME $GDX $KGC $BIDU $BABA $BMNR $GOOGL $NVDA $BA $AMD $TSLA $META Monster note this morning, Scott!
  • woodman: $NVDA trying to get off the heart monitor. Building support at the 50d would be fine with me.
  • ReneeH: @woodman $NVDA bring on the paddles brother!
  • billyzeke: @woodman $NVDA It's been giving me some major heartburn the last few days but this is one that I have put into my investment category, everytime I've sold it in the past ended up being a mistake over the long term.
  • woodman: @billyzeke $NVDA - I hear you. I haven't sold a single investment share.
  • Henry: @BarryC more like the fall than the grind. $NVDA $HOOD and more heading toward the 50 dma
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
$NVDA has the potential to close below the 50-day moving average at 171.03. After a couple of months of sideways consolidation and a disappointing reaction to earnings, I view Nvidia as a real bellwether for the entire market.

    $META is down ab ...
  • Vcondry: @joelsg1 $IREN I just added a starter here at 28 probably regret it I usually screw up the first 30 mins but the earnings and being a preferred $NVDA partner I figure it might break 30
  • joelsg1: $NVDA This one and all the semis getting hit supposedly on news $BABA has a new inference chip made in China that could compete with $NVDA's Blackwell. Really? Remember DeepSeek in 1/25 which tanked $NVDA from $155 down to $86? That turned out to be a buying opportunity for $NVDA, and so is this news today. $NVDA stock dump today is IMHO more about massive call options expiring today. I put on $180-200 call spreads a bit early but will look to adjust/add next week.
  • rem2088: @joelsg1 $NVDA $BABA RIP my Aug 29 175/195 spread
  • joelsg1: $NVDA This one will pin below $175 today and I'm looking to add by close. CEO Jensen Huang is the keynote speaker at the Washington D.C. GTC (GPU Tech. Conf.) on Tuesday morning 10/28 with next E 11/19. Started adding Nov. $175-195 call spreads.
  • ReneeH: @joelsg1 $NVDA love this spot! nice scoop.
  • ZMan2: $IREN In addition to the ER beat $IREN secured a position as a $NVDA preferred partner.
  • Motorman: @joelsg1 $NVDA analysts trying to talk it down. Thanks for ER analysis. Yours and many other's posts is why I hang around the forum!
  • billyzeke: @joelsg1 $NVDA I agree and I'm seeing a lot of price target increases this morning.
  • djgustoso: $NVDA just about flat now in the pre market, seems poised to rise? Anyone adding to their positions here?
  • joelsg1: $IREN Sold Sept. $17 calls for 2.5 bagger into E tonight. Taking a lesson from reaction to $CRWV E. BTW, $CRWV got a shoutout on $NVDA E call last night for large spend.
  • joelsg1: $NVDA Added to 10/3 $180-200 call spreads under $6.
  • Motorman: @joelsg1 $NVDA thanks, copied.
  • camaro69: Had new clue, a little late for me to double at this point. I've been selling partials into this pop. keeping a core. Thanks for the info. Rode my $NVDA long down this am then switched to $NVDL for the ride back up. These doubles can be useful at times. imo
  • Vcondry: @camaro69 $NVDA $NVDL for sure i've been on $APPX and $LABX more action (and downside) with less capital out if you either don't want to do options or just prefer a little more risk control in my opinion.
  • camaro69: @Vcondry $NVDA $NVDL $APPX $LABX great to know, I don't do options. They spanked me hard in my younger years! Thanks for the info
  • scottrades: My notes: $SPY New ATHs $QQQ Just off the Highs $IWM Trending up $SMH Trend is fine $XLF Creeping up $GLD Threatening a breakout $GDX Microbase $SLV Breaking out of a mini-flag $IBIT In Consolidation $ETHA IN Consolidation $DXY In a DT $TNX Near the lows for the month $VIX In a DT $AMZN Pushed off the 8 EMA $ANET Pushed off the 21 EMA $GRMN Mentioned this morning $JPM Near the highs $UBER watch 97.65 $NVDA Pretty Flat After Earnings $AMD Needs more time to consolidate $RMBS Breaking out $ALAB Curling up on good volume $$NXT watch $YMM Clear resistance.
  • Wolf: #China #Chips Chinese chipmakers supporting Huawei, DeepSeek, and other tech firms are seeking to triple the country's output of artificial intelligence-capable processors next year in a race with US companies such as Nvidia $NVDA to develop the most advanced AI,
  • ReneeH: @BarryC happy $NVDA day!
  • BarryC: @ReneeH $NVDA GM! Will will see shortly :-)
  • StockMarketMentor: Good morning. Futures are pretty flat this morning as traders wait on Nvidia's ($NVDA) earnings report after the bell today. Here are the high points:

The market expects and EPS of $1.01-$1.02/share. Revenue is expected to be around $46-46.5 bi ...
  • PhilHarmonic: @Wolf $NVDA #China #Chips AI is supposed to be more intelligent then human intelligence. So maybe we should stop calling it artificial. Human intelligence may be artificial.
  • Mike2025Trader: @StockMarketMentor $NVDA @Dan Thank you!!!
  • Bridgemate: @StockMarketMentor $NVDA Love the IMPROVED ATL !!!
  • ReneeH: @Mike2025Trader $IREN earnings move predicting 17%. That's a lot of pressure if it goes against your profits. imo, I like to trim 1/3 minimum and/or hedge the position. High risk on this one esp on the back of $NVDA earnings. Just my thought over coffee.
  • Wolf: @PhilHarmonic $NVDA #China #Chips according to Oxford, Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. I agree with acquire, but the apply part, AI has a ways to go.
  • Simar297: Does anyone holding $NVDA through earnings ??
  • joelsg1: @Simar297 $NVDA Yes, largest pos. And I sold some Oct. $170 puts. I'm thinking about adding $180-200 call spreads but will wait until last hour to execute.
  • Bridgemate: @Simar297 $NVDA Yes, holding $NVDA and my breath! Long from below
  • phgruver: @Simar297 $NVDA As a long term hold, yes. I'll probably wait until after earnings to create a new options strategy.
  • traderbren: @joelsg1 $NVDA - any thoughts/ideas on covered calls (to avoid having your stock called away) -- considering Sept 19 - 205 calls
  • billyzeke: @Simar297 $NVDA It's my largest position (very overweight) and I'm trying to decide how much if any I'm going to trim. Long from way below on the majority of my shares so I have a nice cushion...as of right now I'm leaning towards trimming 10%....will see how I feel as the day progresses. Man, I hate making these earnings decisions.
  • joelsg1: @traderbren $NVDA I've been too cute in selling short otm covered calls but I've done it and will continue with those $180-200 spreads if I take them. $205 should be safe as above even a 10% upside move but at $1.70 per contract not much reward.
  • woodman: @Simar297 $NVDA - Yes. And if it pulls back, I'll find a place to add. I'm seeing about a 6%-7% implied move. Such a move down would put it back to around the 50d more or less.
  • traderbren: @joelsg1 $NVDA - agreed, not much juice to squeeze. I hate to have the stock called away ...especially when I go too short on time.
  • rem2088: @joelsg1 $NVDA I still have that 175 / 195 aug 29th BuCS - think I'll just them loose before earnings tonight.
  • joelsg1: @woodman $NVDA The trouble as we know is that since everyone would buy the dip, the dip may not happen. Mgmt. said this year is back-end loaded with the new Blackwell and Ultra launches, so I think the changing China news is noise depressing the stock price. They only guide out 1 Q at a time, which is significant. The best analyst on this I follow is Beth Kindig who is aggressive projecting this as a $6T mkt cap by end of '27 fiscal year in 1/27, so that's a stock price of $243. Discount that back to today at 10% (the avg. annual tech stock return) is $212, at 15% $198 (per Grok). Place your bets.
  • woodman: @joelsg1 $NVDA - Thanks.
  • ReneeH: @joelsg1 $NVDA fwiw, I'm holding with significant cushion to weather a 6% pullback...BUT, if it's more than 6% it's going to take down all of the tech/AI sector. I've created a small hedge leveraging $Qs & $SOXL puts rather than risk giving up my upside in the underlying. Just my approach. Lot's of ways to handle volatility.
  • camaro69: @Simar297 $NVDA Holding half my position
  • Carpe_Diem: @Simar297 $NVDA - I'm deep in the $ Calls. Any Pulback has always been short lived and moves higher within a week+. The Stock is still cheap imho at these levels.
  • kenb: @Simar297 $NVDA holding with a nice cushion. Good luck to us all.
  • StockMarketMentor: ...
As is always the case, I could be proven wrong about this. The reason I am mentioning it is to emphasize the importance of always considering the potential reward of a trade relative to the risk. I'll have more to say about the concept of reward v ...
  • SusanW: @Bridgemate $NVDA I think it would also be helpful if you included the date of your comment if you are not going to change them every day.
  • ReneeH: @StockMarketMentor $BSX $NVDA This is why I love your setup analysis thank you! I've been contemplating what my target would be and if it "makes sense" to allocate the capital. Each of us has to embrace our own style, gonna have to pass here dawg. Great validation for me.
  • DrScience: $NVDA If you're long the stock: Got a feeling that the stock is gonna go higher after earnings but are worried that you might be wrong and want to define your risk, then dump the stock and replace it with an option strategy that mimics 100 shares of stock, a long back spread, called a ZEBRA in tastytrade parlance (see https://www.tastylive.com/concepts-strategies/zebra). A ZEBRA can be used to express either Bullish (Calls) or Bearish (Puts) sentiment, and the structure benefits from defined risk and provides almost 1-to-1 exposure to a stock's price movement in the desired direction, is a more capital-efficient, synthetic long position that is virtually immune to time decay for the duration of the options contract. See the snapshot for trade structure and timeframe examples. Note that projected gains and losses are the same as owning 100 shares of stock, but at 1/4 of the price.
  • traderbren: $NVDA - Pre-earnings options volume in NVIDIA is normal with calls leading puts 8:5. Implied volatility suggests the market is anticipating a move near 5.9%, or $10.75, after results are released. Median move over the past eight quarters is 4.8%.
  • camaro69: @traderbren $NVDA Thanks for the info!
  • X802tp01: $NVDA according to Tom Lee: NVDA is flat into quarterly results for the first time since August 2022. This is a positive risk/reward. Equites still attractive here.
  • bigbartabs: @woodman $NVDA ... 50dma, that would be a pretty safe place to add, since still higher than the 7/22 low.
  • elgie: @ReneeH $NVDA how did you calculate the number of $SOXL or $Q puts you needed to buy to protect your $NVDA. Don't feel obliged to share your $NVDA position size if you can speak generally, Thanks
  • ReneeH: @elgie $NVDA $SOXL $Q for me, I look at $ risk. The puts are insurance, so the risk of losing those 50%+ premium, covers the potential upside on the core position. With a highly correlated AI/tech portfolio, my risk analysis also includes the degree of Cushion (key) ensuring minimal loss of profit. Puts will profit if the market (QQQ's specifically) drops 2%+, 5Sep has time value and decent IV. The greeks matter imo. Hope this is helpful.
  • elgie: @ReneeH $NVDA Thanks so much for trying to help. I really appreciate it. I'm sure your advice would make perfect sense to someone who understood options as much as you do. Unfortunately, that's not me. Maybe I can figure out a simple Bear Put Spread to protect $19K for not too much money. I could handle that.
  • ManSim: @StockMarketMentor $BSX $NVDA Will the recording of this training session be posted later today? Thanks!
  • ReneeH: @elgie $NVDA if you want to share more about your holdings and how you'd ideally like to protect I'll try to help. I know a few other traders who do like bull put spreads, but I also don't want to cap my upside. I tend to go with more simple options trades that are directional based on an upside target and buying enough time to close with time value. Do you have cushion?
  • joelsg1: $NVDA Started adding 10/3 $180-200 call spreads.
  • elgie: @ReneeH $NVDA I'm looking to protect $19K. Was thinking of Iron condor 15 pts. above and below current price. However, the risk of violating the protected range would be catastrophic, though very improbable. Running out of time - entirely my vault.
  • ReneeH: @elgie $NVDA is it a big position? Like one where a -6% pullback will hurt your overall profits and portfolio.
  • ReneeH: @elgie $NVDA easy alternative Qs puts for next week, strike that is -5% ish from here OTM. Or your iron condor to cover 1/2 of the profits as an idea.
  • mgoodw: @elgie $NVDA 6 percent of your 19k is $1140. How much were you going to spend to protect this? I’d say even if it drops 6% in the long-term, you’ll be fine.
  • mgoodw: @elgie $NVDA also if this is a long term hold of stock you’d be fine over time.
  • elgie: @ReneeH $NVDA I could survive a 6% set back OK
  • mgoodw: @elgie $NVDA not an expert, but maybe buy some puts in NVDL. THE TWICE LEVERAGE ETF SO IF IT GOES DOWN, YOU’D GET DOUBLE.
  • elgie: @ReneeH $NVDA You were so kind and with good suggestions. Thank you. A distracting family matter interceded and I couldn't respond in time. $NVDA is a long term hold, so I'm just going to HODL my way through this and view a set back as a buying opportunity rather than a loss. Best regards.
  • bigbartabs: $NVDA ... so what's the guess on earnings that will send it soaring, or send it imploding?
  • billyzeke: @elgie $NVDA "I'm just going to HODL my way through this and view a set back as a buying opportunity rather than a loss." That's my plan also. Good luck to us all!
  • traderbren: $NVDA - kissing the 50d -- wait for conf call, or buy in the badlands to take advantage of the first mover mistake!
  • Henry: @traderbren $NVDA their guidance is for 0 sales to China
  • traderbren: @Henry $NVDA - yep, that's good news for coming quarters.
  • joelsg1: $NVDA Looks like only slight beat, $46.7B revs, only $54B guide next Q, no China included, down 4% ah.
  • joelsg1: @joelsg1 $NVDA Need some Jensen magic on call.
  • djgustoso: @joelsg1 $NVDA stock is already turning around .. let's hope Jensen opens the floodgates for a run to 200
  • Carpe_Diem: $NVDA - Interesting Q3 Guidance. No China Sales in forcast.

  • RD: $NVDA Nvidia's Board Approves Additional $60 Billion to Share Repurchase Authorization, Without Expiration
  • vitoB: @traderbren $NVDA I feel like that's not a lot at all 4 trillion market cap, no? Wasn't Apple at like 100 mil in 3 years at 3 trillion?
  • djgustoso: @djgustoso $NVDA spoke too soon... We'll see if Jensen can turn things around though... If not I'm glad I bought some protection in the form of 175 puts...
  • joelsg1: $NVDA Listened to the E call and I'm even more bullish for the year and beyond. Short term, margins will head back up to mid-70s, demand for each iteration is immense (Hopper, Blackwell and Rubin), and they hinted $2-5B in China revs in current Q, including a scaled-down Blackwell. No discussion of paying the 'vig' but if true, then the perceived lightish guide reverts to usual big beat and there's at least a floor under the stock price and shorts will have to cover or risk being blown up by China news. Then there's the 50% per year CAGR which they effectively endorsed, and $200 is in the rear view.
