  • Pokersmith: @wanda1616 $STZ $DEO #hmmmmmbeer Yes ! a good European name
  • Henry: $SAM Fundamentally it makes no sense. Earnings growing 10%, PE and everyone these days says PE doesn't mean anything but it's 72. $DEO, $STZ, $BUD, $TAP don't have charts anywhere near as good. It's up 47% in 2 months. It's beer. Supposedly people are drinking their way through the covid crisis and if kids are going to be home 365 days, they will continue to drink. Will bRobert's price target be 975? It might and the stock might get there. I like their beer BTW

$DEO - inverted hammer candlestick printed on Friday after a retest of the $164-$165 resistance level (as well as the 100 and 200-day SMA's). This could setup for a retest of the $158-$160 support level in the near-term.

$DEO - the stock is starting to roll over after a sizable rally this year. If it isn't able to recover from the decline below the 50-day EMA soon, look for additional downside risk. Earnings are due out on 7/25.

  • rck89: $DEO Anyone have a feel for trading this stock? The stock is under it's 200 moving average, but seems to be recovering. I own this as a "safe" stock, but sure if any of the consumer staples are still safe. Any thoughts....thanks.
  • Squid: @jamesmhc34 please put the dollar sign $deo in front of the stock symbol
  • kus123: @jamesmhc34 $DEO, add $ sign to sticker symbol to help to look at the chart from forum
  • jamesmhc34: thanks for the info $deo
  • justinp: @jamesmhc34 I find it helpful to see what the overall sectors are doing (see link). $XLP is strong today. Not sure if $DEO is in that ETF but same industry. http://www.sectorspdr.com/sectorspdr/tools/sector-tracker
  • champ: @Sluggo $TLRY #CGC #CRON #DEO #CGC #DEO #GWPH ---- On $DEO, it is hard to know what is going to happen. However, for now momentum traders are in charge. On $GWPH, that is a good question.....maybe they think little differently in Europe but I do know that this company #was on the market.
  • bRobert: @Shopaholic526 $CRON People are buying. That's why .:) Strong momentum. Strong Technical pattern. People want a piece of the the next multibillion dollar industry. $STZ . lit the the match with $4+ billion . investment in $CGC. Other alcoholic beverage companies are scrambling to play catchup and not be left behind. eg $DEO $BUD $TAP . Other deals coming. The space is in play. Do your trading rules violate any of these bullish catalysts?
  • bRobert: $IIPR Holding up well today. $45+ target dividend. $CRON filling the gap. Pullbacks will provide good secondary entries soon. This is not flipcoin. Lots of money looking to get a piece of this new industry in its infancy . US market projections 50 billion over the next decade. , On par with wine sales. The beverages they will offer may erode beer sales (100 billion) That's why you are seeing $STZ $BUD $DEO and othersentering the arena.
  • jwstich: @champ $DEO $STZ I plan to take a closer look at $STZ and $DEO this weekend. Thanks for your response and many contributions.
  • bwcarnation1: $DEO looking for a pot co to invest in, talking to 3 Canadian cos.....they are going higher (pot stocks)
  • champ: @bwcarnation1 $DEO ----That is the news that I have also....
  • bwcarnation1: @champ $DEO holding a basket of pot stocks
  • jwstich: @bwcarnation1 $DEO anyone looking to buy $DEO as a spec.?
  • champ: @jwstich $DEO ---- If this news is true, the first reaction might be that the stock will drop, just like what happened to $STZ. Now if the news is not true or this company does not make a buy, the stock might bounce. However, either way this would be a Spec buy because their is know real way to know how this news is all going to play. However, their could be other reasons to take a position.
  • dcphinney: $DEO broke out from long consolidation at high. Decent div, great exposure to EM. May get another bite if caught up in Brexit vortex.

  • rck89: $DEO Looking at safety stocks...again! Any thoughts on this one? Thanks.
  • Henry: @issues $STZ A stock I never got around to owning I see $DEO gapped up on the news that we all should be drinking more given the news. STZ has the better chart over the last 2-3 years. DEO has gapped an gone today and has the better chart today. Based on today's action I wouldn't be surprised if the gap fills on STZ. But then I don't know why they gapped nor your time frame. If filling the gap would be painful, maybe book some profits. If you are looking at a monthly chart, then it's all about Alfred E Neuman
  • issues: @Henry $STZ $DEO Henry I really appreciate your insights. Thanks for this input. Alfred E Neuman? Mad Magazine? Oh I see his face on that monthly chart. There it is. Thanks!

  • ccrown4: $DEO @bigbartabs Thursday I suggested you buy $DEO because we support their busniess. If you did, Happy Hour is coming early.
  • ccrown4: $DEO @bigbartabs I was going to stay in this one but when it gapped at open and then started dropping some bird doo, I sold. I've pretty much kept to this method/rule. Have a good weekend. The weather is too nice to stay. GL
  • ccrown4: $DEO @bigbartabs, you there? Profits up 61% for last six months of 2012. The way we drink this company will be at $150 before you know it. (:
  • ccrown4: $SSYS and $DDD The T3 live guys jump in and out of these stocks daily. You may follow for a fee. Have a drink! Wish I owned $DEO for this very reason. What time frame are you buying on?
  • Henry: $DEO I'm trying to avoid doing to $ABV what I did to $DEO, held it for a couple years while it did nothing, then sold it 50 points ago, same with PNRA
  • moneytaker: Squeezes - these are Current Squeezes candidates that tapped the high Bollinger band and had volume 20% higher that the prior day and close > open. How about this instead of the big list. $CNI $DEO $ESV $GSK $ITC $OMEX $ROP TSS
  • Hawk327: $BEAM #Cramer did a segment about this with in the past few days. Use to be a part of Fortune Brands. It was probably the strongest of the three divisions. This is basically a new stock since 10/4. Take a look @ $DEO for comparison. $DEO currently top of the box but has been posting higher lows. The lower BB has been acting as a spring board. Look for pull back to below 75 range and support. This could also make a investment type holding. $BEAM DEO no current position.
  • debeers: HOT-ended Friday at 40.93. #Cramer has a $50 target on its back but sold some at 45 and change. Asia expansion is the key here. Its undervalued but the world economy sucks and Starwood is a premium brand. I am going to do some handsitting on this one.It is interesting that he was enthused not about $DEO recently but about BEAM. It tells me that even this most optimistic trader is a tiny bit grim on the high end.
  • rbmoult: $DEO - is breaking out of it's channel and is try to push through resistance at 81.25.
  • Henry: Cramers guest @MSL #Cramer is on #CNBC between 9:00 - 10:00 I think he said the $DEO of $PPG would be on tonight.
  • debeers: LMT/RTN AND JOSE CUERVO-For JOJO- Jojo, the order of escalation is: unmanned drones, missiles, fighter jets. Do you think we wish to commit pilots to this? Raytheon's Tomahawk is THE missile play and Lockheed @Martin is the fighter jet play.IMHO Esterline is the play as they specialize in platforms for the military and aerospace. On a happier note, Jose Cuervo will be acquired by either $DEO (Diageo) or Brown-Foreman BF/A. The play is to buy whoever acquires Jose Cuervo which is privately owned. Diageo already owns the international distribution rights but the Beckmann's are odd ducks so we'll see.
  • freddy77: ...

  • MoSo: Sectors - watched @Dan's video last night and this morning broke up my investments into sectors: Oil 16% Metals 18% Tech 14% (although $AMZN and $NFLX feel retail-y to me) Alt energy 15% Retail 12% World 12.5% "Other" 12.5% (BRKB, $NLY, $MTD, HGSI) Missing "Defensive" as a category, but then we also have a little money under management, and I figure he fits the "defensive" bit (MMM $ABT APD ACL KO $COP DRI $DEO EMR $GSK HAS $JKHY ITW $INTC JNJ $KMB MSFT $PAYX PG WM)
  • jbuc52: $DEO - Picked up a small position yesterday as a long term hold, not a trade (was looking for a defensive stock). The yield is attractive, low beta, and a nice growth trend. Hoping for a bounce off the low end of the BB. Looks like a good entry point; however, don't be disappointed if it dips to $60; may want to set your stop below $60.
  • David: $DEO, @Cmac,China recently bought 1.1% of $DEO, in the United kingdom. The distribute to China: Smirnoff vodka, Johnnie Walker scotch whiskies, Captain @Morgan rum, Baileys Original Irish Cream liqueur, JeB scotch whisky, Tanqueray gin, and Guinness stout. Its other spirit brands include Crown Royal Canadian whisky, Buchanan?s De Luxe whisky, @Gordon?s gin and vodka, @Windsor Premier whisky, Bell?s Extra Special whisky, Seagram?s whiskey, Old Parr whisky, Bushmills Irish whiskey, Bundaberg rum Cacique rum, and Ketel One vodka. The company?s wine brands include Beaulieu Vineyard, @Sterling Vineyards, Rosenblum Cellars, Chalone Vineyard, Blossom Hill, and Piat d'Or; and beer brands comprise Harp lager, Smithwick's ale, Malta Guinness non-alcoholic malt, Red Stripe lager, and Tusker lager. In addition, it owns distribution rights for the Jose Cuervo tequila brands in the United States and internationally. The company was founded in 1886 and is based in London, the United Kingdom.
  • cmac: Tough trading environment. I think shorts too tough to enter, and longs not worthhwile either. Only thing I've done is take stop losses on $DEO and MATK for small nicks. ugh
  • rafad: @DAN- What is you technical take on $DEO Diageo
  • Bob: $DEO --- nope had a .50 trailing stop on a small position. Will watch for a low to try again in the $6 trading range it seems to like.
  • josephcollins: iirc @Karen Finerman has recommended $DEO recently. It's also yielding about 5 percent, which ain't nothin' to sneeze at. Just remembered that Goldschlager is a Diageo brand... there's your hedge thesis. heh. Stay away from the Red Label unless you are mixing. The Black is tolerable. Haven't tried the upper tier... not willing to plunk down the cash. More of a bourbon guy anyway.
  • Bob: Hey @Joseph Thanks for looking at DEO. As you see, I only half kidding as I did go long $DEO last week. -@Bob (edit spelling)
  • Biscuit: @Craigy, Looking to add to a position in $DEO and MCD. Somewhat defensive names, although the CEO of $MCD made a statement in England he was hesitant to pass on inflationary commodity prices to the consumer. When pulling out to the weekly time frame it appears they are at support. Do you believe the downtrending market takes precedence over support here. I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks, @Tim
  • drtony: hello everyone. last week i got my a$ kicked by the market, and felt pretty down. it turns out that was the best thing that ever happened to me. i sold off most of my positions, took a couple of days off from trading, reassessed my philosophy and holdings, and made some changes in trading approach and port. still holding onto my core long term $TNP, LTR, $DEO, $LNG, but changed around how i approach short term holdings. as a result, i'm holding a lot more cash, and the small amount of short term trades are doing well based on a better approach. MTOX, $TNP treating me well today. added to both yesterday along with EMC.
  • Yachtsman: Notice how the non-interest sensitive positions are holding, like $AMGN, GENZ, $DEO, $MRVL, $QCOM, $ADSK, $JDSU anything not tied to interest rates. When you see this you know this is program driven selling. The computers are selling the positions keyed to the interest rates cycle. That doesn't mean the selling can't spill over as S&P triggers are hit, but notice the program driven nature of the current selling.
