  • jonwest88: $LIN making a nice continuation after popping out of a squeeze on 6/13/24
  • joelsg1: $LIN Being added to NDX 3/18, replacing Splunk acquired by $CSCO.
  • joelsg1: @champ $GTLS #Bounce-Candidate Still hoping on this one, but souring on it. Largest $LIN got only a tiny bounce from decent E, and definitely disappointed in top Mgmt comms.
  • joelsg1: @champ $GTLS #think #Computerized-trading #trigger #CopyCat #Investors #Pre-earnings If I agreed, then Mar. $125-145 call spreads look good, but sadly I don't. Actually prefer $LIN.
  • champ: @joelsg1 $GTLS $LIN #think #Computerized-trading #trigger #CopyCat #Investors #Pre-earnings ...Short term this stock is going much higher .... ....and 4-days ago the stock was just at $138.65........ and the October high was at $160... ....and this stock could easily hit $150 in the short term. ~~~The 3 #most-recent upgrades were at $190, $205, $225 and like I posted $WFC was at $212 on 9/25, so this stock has plenty of room to make a nice move.
  • woodman: @joelsg1 @champ - $GTLS $LIN #think #Computerized-trading #trigger #CopyCat #Investors #Pre-earnings - Interesting discussion and points out the different views and strategies traders can have. Nice squeeze for $LIN at the 50d. It doesn't tend to move with quite the alacrity or pop-potential that I tend to fall for (but perhaps you see it in terms of an appealing options trade), but nice squeeze nonetheless. As for $GTLS, I see 50d overhead (though not by much at $128 and change) and 200d ($143) above that as resistance areas. That said, it is on short term rising support now and I suppose, if it bounces here, it could make a move back up to the 200d if it gets back up through the 50d (gaining about 14% from here), but this isn't my kind of trade. Good luck to you both.
  • champ: @woodman $GTLS $LIN #think #Computerized-trading #trigger #CopyCat #Investors #Pre-earnings....Thanks, however for me, I #Invest mostly off of #Low-entries and News, plus upgrades and Insiders....however I do trade off of Charts.
  • champ: @joelsg1 $GTLS $LIN #think #Computerized-trading #trigger #CopyCat.....For me I have to say know-way on $LIN, a $406 stock that is right near HOD..... that is against a $127 stock that has huge Back-logs, with 4 real nice upgrades, with another one at $167 and the high at $225........ ....for me thats a real easy choice, however Good-Luck on $LIN... but that stock is Not for me, however #Thanks for that stock idea....and I parked it next to $GTLS.
  • joelsg1: @Onthemark $GTLS Still trimmed long, but weary of current mgmt's communication style since announcing Howden deal. Prefer $LIN which broke out this month.
  • joelsg1: $GTLS $LIN slight beat eps, missed revs. and in-line guide yet up 2% bodes well for $GTLS reporting tomorrow before open. Long.
  • Aragorn: @Forexpro $LIN you have been on my mind. Expect a call soon. I am enjoying the quiet life in FL. Tom Petty Next week just for you.
  • Forexpro: Re: $LIN Hi, Friends, Our colleague @Joelsg1 mentioned this one during the previous earnings season. Earnings are coming up again on or about Jul 27 - I just checked the Investor Relations website, and the company will in fact be reporting on the 27th - but my attention was drawn via a momentum scan. Of course, in retrospect the time to buy was on Jul 6, as the stock closed at 364.53 after dropping to 358.37. It has recovered sufficiently so that it probably makes sense now to wait and see if it can get past the previous high at 383.58 (it finished yesterday's festivities at 378.58). Hope your weekend is going well; all the best!
  • joelsg1: $GTLS Beat and in-line guide, divestitures on track but none closed, thin so not much volume, competitor $LIN delayed reaction upgrade to $400 post their E at BMO, JPM.
  • joelsg1: $GTLS Tomorrow E before the Bell and I'm long from below with cushion and holding through, but cautious. Note competitor $LIN which beat and raised yesterday, as it always does, but down 1% today. Of course, that one wasn't cut in half for an acquisition.
  • joelsg1: $GTLS Down with market on debt issuance to fund Howden acquisition on light volume, but expected and note much larger competitor $LIN did its own $900M debt issuance for "general purposes". Long.
  • joelsg1: $GTLS ATH, even dragging $LIN up with it, but so thin and time for daily rollover, sold remaining remnant but missed much of this week's post-E move.
  • Pokersmith: #BearishEngulfing You want to see a weekly BEC ? see: $LIN 😳
  • Pokersmith: Gap up .....see: $LIN
  • Pokersmith: @Pokersmith $LIN Trigger point = 332.41
  • Pokersmith: Pivot pt....see $LIN
  • Pokersmith: What a move, ex divie today notwithstanding !!😲 see: $LIN
  • debeers: $LIN-@PokersmithAnd Breaking out!Long
  • Pokersmith: @issues $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH see also : $LIN
  • Pokersmith: @issues $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN Thanks...will give your picks a once over 👍
  • Pokersmith: @Pokersmith $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN Same industry, but different sub-industries. No small concern when making comparisons
  • issues: @Pokersmith $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN Yes Lin looks good also. The IBD accumulation rating for LIN is C+ but ASH is B, and VHI is A. The IBD #1 pick is VHI and it's #1 on Relative strength. With the price of LIN I could buy both ASH and VHI. Now watch LIN shoot up without me, eh? Also on the ten day chart LIN is up 8% and ASH is also up 8%, but VHI is 14%! The trend is your friend. I'm going to put in a limit order for LIN because of slightly declining volume and it is at the top...I hate to buy at the very tippy top. Limit order on LIN $305 in place. Look at how it dropped last time it hit this high. From $333 to $297. If the market drops I might get lucky, right?
  • Pokersmith: @issues $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN #1 #1 no doubt, but if it DOES go there ( 305 ) would you really want to own it? . It essentially would have proven that it has lost momentum and this potential short /intermediate term break out is for naught.
  • issues: @Pokersmith $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN Right. I also hold $WLK in IBD group 36 (Chemicals) but it's down 2% in 10 days while the others, VHI ASH LIN are in IBD group 48 - obviously not as good a group - but they are up much more!
  • Pokersmith: @issues $KRO $CC $VHI $ASH $LIN #1 #1 50 week sma is at 312...support roughly at 308
  • Pokersmith: @issues $LIN 10 week ( corresponds roughly to 50 day on daily ) lives at and around the 320 handle. IMHO, set a limit there, instead of 305.
  • debeers: $BA/$BX/$FCX half and half with $TECK/$GNRC/$LIN/$RL/$TSLA didn't work yesterday but did today and higher than close options strike price for tomorrow/ $VLO a lot of oils didn't work but this one which @Woodman posted on yesterday, did as the refiners will rock all the way through Labor Day.
  • jonwest88: @Pokersmith $LIN Had this one for awhile now. to note: $SQM went ex today for $2.79 Adjusted for the div, price would be $106.62 just above the 5 day
  • joelsg1: @bRobert $GTLS Playing leapfrog or maybe hot potato with $LIN which is up 4% today while $GTLS down 5%.
  • joelsg1: $LIN CEO buys $1M of own stock, prefer $GTLS but both working.
  • bRobert: @joelsg1 $LIN $GTLS Technically inferior daily and weekly at this stage
  • joelsg1: $GTLS 30% rise in 3 days, so expecting pb to 50d at $132. Then we'll know if this is head feint or true change of character. Think the former based on $LIN action.
  • Pokersmith: @joelsg1 $LIN Jim Cramer AAP holding
  • Motorman: @joelsg1 $GTLS $LIN Different industries I believe?
  • joelsg1: @Pokersmith $LIN Big Loser for them.
  • joelsg1: @Motorman $GTLS $LIN Close enough, $GTLS much smaller but heavier into hydrogen and cryogenics for example.
  • Pokersmith: @joelsg1 $LIN Yeah, they should have been out a month ago at least. Not sure if some was sold or not. Generally, they keep a core and trade around it.
  • joelsg1: @Pokersmith $LIN Much as he criticizes Cathie Wood, he trades same way, averaging down on positions he likes, though on much bigger and established companies.

  • issues: IBD replaced their computer with a dartboard. And they throw the darts blindfolded. Once again they are completely random in their removal and replacement of the IBD 50 stocks. They took off $GOOGL (now garbage??) $MSFT (no longer worthy of listing?? ...
  • joelsg1: @Niche $GTLS Obviously not @bRobert, but posted awhile back that $LIN in the same space had assumed leadership from $GTLS and at least held the 20w though below the 50d. Might be turning now. Small long.
  • Pokersmith: @joelsg1 $GTLS $LIN Cramer position re: $LIN ( fwiw )
  • joelsg1: @Pokersmith $GTLS $LIN Yep. Cramer investing "Club" going to a paid service shortly, like the old charitable trust, though still emailing free morning notes which I think will still list holdings. Wonder if this will change anything with these holdings. BTW $LIN Earnings 2/10.
  • issues: I was surprised at how many of the IBD 50 stocks were replaced! 23 out of 50 are new! That's half. I can't see any difference between the charts of those replaced with the ones they kicked off. There's no sense that I can see in the difference between the old and new. The only observation is the "new homes" were abandoned including TREX. And some of the tech were gone. For example these are new on IBD 50: $AAWW $BRO $BX $CLF $EPRT $EW $JBHT $JEF $LIN $MPW $MRVL $NFG $NMRK $PFE $PSA $QLYS $REXR $SF $SIVG $SPG $STE $VRTS $WGO. We own mrvl, pfe qlys sivg and are buying SF and VRTS in the morning Mon.
  • joelsg1: $LIN ATH. Took over from $GTLS for me, and pays a modest 1.2% divi. Cramer owns in his public trust.
  • joelsg1: $LIN Taken over leadership from much smaller $GTLS, $LIN held 20d and 20w. Cramer owns in his now-free charitable trust. 1.3% divi kicker. Evercore at $355, Wolfe $404.
  • joelsg1: $LIN Back up to 50d, inflection pt.
  • joelsg1: $LIN Hit ATH today before small pb. Largest industrial gas company with recent emphasis on 'green' hydrogen production. Small 1.3% dividend too.

  • bla00109: $LIN popped out of a 7% Vol. squeeze . Good volume yesterday and today.
  • dcolten: #$LIN Kramer bought $LIN today. Any thoughts?
  • shoredriver: @dcolten $LIN ...Kramer as in cosmo Kramer???
  • debeers: $AMRC vs$LIN--What is good for $LIN is great for $AMRC. Fifty is may target and will i get there? IMO yes(of course i reserve the right top up the target again!) because replacing expensive electricity with hydrogen is dirt cheap. Army loves it, Marines love it, Portland Oregon loves it and Watertown Mass loves it. Doesn't care who is in office. Entities just want o make money. UP for the year 147%. Did it ever make a list? NO.LONG
  • BocaRick: @debeers $AMRC $LIN #Cramer talking this point on CNBC earlier
  • jwstich: @BocaRick $AMRC $LIN #Cramer which one or both?
  • debeers: @BocaRick $AMRC $LIN #Cramer talking about $LIN. i gave Cramer $AMRC 8 months ago and posted the stock the day AFTER fyi on 6/25
  • issues: Cramer did a nice peace on $PLUG (he never used to like the stock or the company. But he changed his tune.) and $LIN (Linde which did a great pop in the AH to a high of $244.40) for producing Hydrogen (H2) by steam reforming, partial oxidation of hydrocarbons and by the conversion of carbon monoxide as a replacement for fossil fuels It's the wave of the future. I am buying PLUG (small number of shares - just 50) on Mon. I also like the break out chart on $PDD (buying some Mon). I put in a low ball limit order for the falling $DPZ at $378! Putting in a low "limit" order is like fishing for a trout only it's a pizza! ho ho ho!
  • bsafriet: @issues $PLUG $LIN $PDD $DPZ I’m with you on PLUG and LIN. Not sure I’ll buy on the Cramer euphoria, instead wait for a pullback. I do not view these as trades, but long term holds (which for me tends to be anything longer than a swing trade 😊)
  • joelsg1: @issues $PLUG $LIN $PDD $DPZ Nice. Low limit orders like setting stops, in reverse.
  • issues: @joelsg1 $PLUG $LIN $PDD $DPZ EXACTLY! That's it! and it's actually fun when you catch one (trout or stock)!! Try it. It's worked great for me since I started trying it. I am surprized Dan doesn't add this to his tools of the trade, so to speak....
  • ttmon121: @issues $PLUG $LIN $PDD $DPZ I designed small scale methane steam reformers at a startup in the early 2000s. Unfortunately we were a few decades early. So great to see interest in hydrogen again!
  • issues: @ttmon121 $PLUG $LIN $PDD $DPZ Wow very impressive. Nice to know we have some geniuses in the crowd.
  • grinningcat_o3: @HillB #JBHT Personally like $LIN which is more so materials but benefits from the builders. I'm just watching this for now, squeezed to the downside but looks like it could be reversing to the upside, one to keep an eye on IMO. Like $PHM for builders specifically, watching above $47.43 - looks to be coming for that today on a squeeze.
  • HillB: @grinningcat_o3 $LIN $PHM #JBHT Thanks. Looks like $IYT etf is a good way to get broad exposure to transports
  • grinningcat_o3: @HillB $LIN $PHM $IYT #JBHT there's also the $XHB for broad exposure to the builders, and $XLB for materials.
  • Kharrison67: @grinningcat_o3 $LIN $PHM $IYT $XHB $XLB #JBHT I think he is wanting to move away from the builders
  • grinningcat_o3: @Kharrison67 $LIN $PHM $IYT $XHB $XLB #JBHT oh lol, totally misread that. my bad.
  • grinningcat_o3: $LIN real tight squeeze here. One to watch IMO fosho.
  • grinningcat_o3: $LIN some nice tightening consolidation in a sector that's working.
