I haven't vetted these in any way apart from the quickest glance at the charts; none of them look like recent disasters. All are priced sub-30, and they vary in industry and market cap. $ORI : This looks more like a "ladle and handle" - which sounds like a stretch of the imagination to call it a up and handle pattern. - gwenzee: @TunaHelper $TRN $RDUS $DRH $ORI Hope this helps you in identifying C & H pattern. Follows a former uptrend. Is not a V-shaped pattern. Depth of the base as measured from the left side of the cup is 15-30%. Length of the cup should be at least 7 weeks long...can take over a year to fully form. A pattern which is only 5 weeks long hasn't had enough time to fully form. Handle should be a mild pullback (10-12%) on relatively light volume. Should form in upper half of the base. Peak of the handle should be within !5% of old high on left side of cup. This is according to William O'Neill of IBD.
- TunaHelper: @gwenzee $TRN $RDUS $DRH $ORI Hi Gwenzee - Thank you for the C&H framework. I had not heard of that before. I am going to examine things now through it. I think it would also be helpful to understand the Cup and Handle pattern in terms of @Dan 's Balance of Power framework (in terms of buyers and sellers). I find that framework for understanding lots of technical patterns, so I am sure it would be super insightful to apply to this pattern too.

- mikepbss: $ORI Not sexy, but holds well in this chop and pays a dividend. (long)
- debeers: $ORI-Although Old Republic does Government and ordinary commercial insurance, the part of the business that interests me is their Title insurance since I believe housing will recover. ORI is interesting because although the insti involvement is a couple of percentages lower than I would like at 73% they are growing at 10% with a low 13.71 % p/e. They also pay a 3.92% divvie. here are the returns --1 year 34.7, 3 years 106.6%, and 5 years 87.4%. Millennials will want housing before it gets too pricey and rates for rent are thru the roof now with nothing to show for it. I think we get 15%-16% not including the divvie over the next 12 months which is meeting the 20% min we look for.
