  • Nepenthe: @scottrades $XHB $TOL $PHM $LEN $TPH You had also mentioned $RS. I bought once it eclipsed 216 on your suggestion--216.40 to be exact--but I notice volume's very light today. Yet yesterday it was three times normal. Light volume a cause for concern, or was yesterday's impetus enough? Just curious. Keeping stop below today's low. Cheers.

  • DavidK: $TPH- ceo was on cnbc earlier . 1 good observation he made was basically small builders can’t get loans from small regional banks . Credit is drying up . Can’t be good for $KRE Eventually as well as loss of deposits for higher fixed income instruments they don’t provide .
  • woodman: $HOV - I continue to hold this one as it consolidates, with the 50d creeping up to price, and it gets closer to some longer term rising support. Homebuilders generally are consolidating or have pulled back to some support areas (for some, 50d has been support; for others, 20d area has been support ) still within their broader uptrends. Perhaps it's worth going through the tickers to find one in a decent spot. Virtually all are in uptrends still. See, e.g., $DFH $TMHC $LGIH $TOL $MDC $KBH $MHO $GRBK $TPH. Others of interest as well.
  • sierramp: @scottrades $XHB Thanks, I saw that then looked at companies in that ETF. $TPH and $TOL not bad but I liked the numbers on the ER for $PHM. Started 1/4 position.

  • lostsheep: $TPH Have been patiently building a position in this. Upon breaking above resistance it has pulled back to that level and danced around for 13 trading days till finally bouncing off the 20 day ma and swallowing up all that congestion yesterday. It's not $TSLA but pretty orderly and fairly valued.
  • lostsheep: $TPH not flashy but trading technically well and very fairly valued in a good sector. Up near another 52 week high today on above average volume. Earnings 2/18.
  • lostsheep: $TPH added at the open. Pulling back from a 52 week high to test the prior. $DHI numbers good Still believe in housing. and this is fairly valued. The 10 year at 16.1 this morning should help affordability $LOW also green

  • DrScience: $TPH $XHB Homebuilders are feeling the love this morning. As long as mortgage rates remain low (and stable), the sector could see continued success this year. One to look at is Tri Pointe Group. Stock is in a volatility squeeze 3.8% and near $16 resistance. I'm looking for the stock to break out should the upcoming earnings release from $LEN on 1/8 BMO signal that the housing market is in better-than-expected shape heading into the Spring 2020 home-building season.

  • debeers: $TPH-Nice bullish engulfing candle (Like i might know what i am talking about here? Probably not). Nevertheless, Home buying has been stronger than it has been in sometime IN THE WEST. Cali, Arizona, Nevada. That's Tri=Pointe. LONG
  • debeers: $LEN/$TPH-Lennar [posted great results this am but there is a better stock for your money in this space: TriPointe homes. The profiles are similar. Both are growing at over 20%: Lennar is growing at 25.42%/p/e of 12.33 but while Lennar has been negative up till now for the 1 year performance, TPH is growing at 24.05% with a p/e of 10.32. The price, when we began covering it was under 10. Now its at 16 and the 1 and 3 years have performed really nicely without the snow overhang. The economy ought to benefit TriPointe even more than Lennar.
  • debeers: $TPH-volume already over 700,000. My pick for the best money acceleration in this space.
  • vfr777: $TPH at ATH and moving up from consolidation
  • bRobert: @vfr777 $TPH Im a fan of the weekly chart breakout from a tight squeeze. Nice pick
  • vfr777: @bRobert $TPH thanks for the encouragement!
  • PRK: @debeers $EXAS Thank you for your comments, you always make a lot of sense. Are you still holding Tri Point Homes $TPH ? I'm in with a nice profit of 15%+
  • PRK: @debeers $MHK $TPH Thank you.
  • debeers: $MHK vs/ $TPH---Since you asked--get out of the home builder and get into the home builder suppliers. I like $MHK because its geographically diversified, has industrial applications as well as residential ones , is in low cost basis states for labor, high in quality. Make the move before earnings, stay in thru-my opinion--and then re-evaluate. You'll be fine.
  • debeers: @PRK $EXAS $TPH -- wrote to you about why I like $MHK better.
  • woodman: #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing - these are working well, many moving up through resistance and running. I listed some yesterday (use the hashtag identifiers I've posted). Add to these $TOL. I am long $BZH and $TPH (homebuilders) and $BLDR and $APOG (Building Materials). But there are many good looking charts in these sectors and they're certainly not limited to what I bought.
  • champ: @woodman $TOL $BZH $TPH $BLDR $APOG #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing ---$FNMA or $FMCC good entry on Monday up now around $0.70... up about another 6% today ....these are going to break-out but I don't know when....
  • cmaxwel1: @woodman $TOL $BZH $TPH $BLDR $APOG #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing I'm looking at $HW (top of group in IBD), coal construction
  • bigbartabs: @woodman $TOL $BZH $TPH $BLDR $APOG #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing I would be a little careful here... $XHB is coming up to some pretty massive resistance (8/17). FWIW... good luck brutha...
  • debeers: $LGIH/$TPH/$TOL--There's your barbell housing play. It should push the first time homebuyers into homes when the fed raises rates and the wealthy will opt for the $TPH play in the west and $TOL in the east. Pick a low and high end for when rates rise. I can hear the criticism in ,my ear now so permit me to add "In my opinion."
  • woodman: $TPH - I started a position yesterday and added this morning.
  • woodman: @TunaHelper $XHB $BWA - re #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing - here I like $TPH (up thru resistance this morning) and $BZH (looks on the verge of moving thru resistance), also $MTH; #BuildingMaterials I like these $APOG (starter position for me, hoping for break thru resistance) $AWI $BLDR $CBPX$ CX (Mexican co. but I guess folks less worried) $USCR $CSTE $VMC $OC $BMCH $MDU.
  • TunaHelper: @woodman $XHB $BWA $TPH $BZH $MTH $APOG $AWI $BLDR $CBPX $USCR $CSTE $VMC $OC $BMCH $MDU #Homebuilders #ResidentialConstruction #Housing #BuildingMaterials Thank you for the ticker list. Still researching this area a bit, wary that if I don't hustle on that I'll prob miss the move. I have looked at $BZH which seems at a good point, to your point. I also like $CX, which is a very well run company. Are you still following $LGIH?
  • woodman: @TunaHelper - I bailed on $LGHI. In $TPH and $BZH. LGIH does look interesting here, though. Like it could start to work even though not working yet.
  • TunaHelper: @woodman Hadn't considered $TPH before - thank you. It's prairie-dogging it over the 200dma today! :D
  • woodman: $TPH - set an alert for a cross above the 200 day. I have a starter in this.
  • Poppy:
  • gwenzee: $TPH $FN Sold final positions in both of these for a profit. But gains were shrinking like a wool sweater in a hot dryer.
  • debeers: $TPH-you live in a high income area and will be forking over anywhere between 550,000 and 1,500,00- for your house which, coincidentally is where high end earnings are made: California, Oregon, Washington, Washington, DC and the resort areas of Colorado. Do you really give a damn about a quarter point interest rate hike? Probably not as you are buying your house with cash either from your job, your sizing down, or a very generous Mommy and Daddy who are thrilled to have you living nearby in Silicon Valley if you will only start a family already! Reports the same time as everyone else but this one should do very nicely as home sales are up in the high end.
  • debeers: $TPH-What Forex said + the whys and wherefores of this position: TPH-Housing Starts-1.21--market expected 1.17--. Multi family dropped. Single fam still below historical norms BUT builders seeing demand. This is NOT the entry level buyer because of the cost of land and labor. Now, who I wonder caters to the NOT entry level buyer where folks are paying up? Oh, yeah--that would be Tri-Pointe Homes not only because of the high price of their homes but also because they build where folks are willing to spend: the Phoenix area where INTC has already set up shop, West Coast just north of Sillicon Valley and Washington State(Microsoft) and Colorado (gorgeous vacay housing).
  • debeers: $TPH-Home builder sentiment best in the west and the only fly in the ointment is folks sweating qualifying. Luckily, not only is $TPH in the west coast and the western US which has the most sales but its buyers are not in the "sweating qualifying" category. FBR says 17 for a target. Recommended by Gwennie at 11. I wanted to see a Quarter first, being the cautious sort and did at 11.30. where they beat and raised expectations.
  • debeers: ...
$TPH-Gwennie's gift. They just released their newest yupscale development outside of Washington DC in Clarksburg,Md.. It doesn't matter tohe Washington DC folks what else is going on in the rest of the country because they will ALWAYS do well. This ...
  • debeers: $TPH-Pricey builder just renovated a mansion in Fremont, Ca and is building a community around it where the pricing will be high 600's for their starter homes. It is about 45 minutes north of Silicon Valley where the starter homes there are 1mm for a teardown so this represents a real bargain!
  • AB: @debeers $TPH - thanks for all the tickers you post. I bought some $TPH a while ago.
  • gwenzee: @debeers $TPH Morning, sis. 3 for 3 ain't bad. Have to consult my ouiga board and find another winner.
  • debeers: @gwenzee $TPH/$INGR/-Got your next 2 right here, Gwennie:$INGR/$ROCK--$INGR is the sugar/starch space and has performed better than any other staple and $ROCK- if XME has been good, $ROCK will outperform. Sticking with both. They are my Thursday reports and have been flogged with the usual rigor. Looking for every analyst on the TPH call to be very upbeat and congratulatory, Sis.
  • debeers: @AB $TPH --happy for you.
  • debeers: $TPH-Proving once again that the yupscale builder attracted yupscale customers; solid beat on top and bottom lines. FYI average selling -price of a TriPointe Group residence is $560,000. From the newswires:

  • dunsek: @debeers $TPH $INGR $ROCK in s similar vein, one for the Canadians in the house, or the Americans who don't mind a little currency exposure, is RSI on the TSX. It's Rogers Sugar, and though it is not trending, it pays 6.2% if you want to get paid to wait for it to move out of the 3 month long narrow band, Otherwise, set an alert. Up 45% since Feb, apologies for not mentioning it sooner- Long.
  • debeers: $TPH-reporting tomorrow. Looking for 28 cents average/.36 high per share and revenues of 545.23MM average/559.1MM high. They are where housing is hot: West Coast, Ariz country clubs and Washington DC. Bought 3/11 after doing all the freaking homework Gwennie gave me at 11.26. Stock now 13.40.
  • debeers: $TPH-gone up 16% since Gwennie mentioned it to me in March. Won yet another award and is n the yupscale southwest, Cali and Oregon and Washington DC as well as Country Clubs in Arizona. Take a peek at yahoo finance, check on the analyst box and you'll find no holds or sells. Buys and strong buys only. A mini TOL without the New York drama and has the Architectural Digest awards to give it all the snob cache it needs.
  • debeers: $TPH vs $DHI---$DHI is the low cost provider of homes and the report today makes it clear that the yupscale homes are selling TPH which just won another Architectural Digest award. Its homes are in Arizona, Ca, Or, Wa yupscale market and Washington DC. Think country club. $.TPH is like $TOL but avoiding some of the east coast pitfalls
  • debeers: $TPH-DAN always says to know why you own the stock> I own it because of 3 reasons: 1st: Gwennie is a homework fanatic and when she likes something, i look at the books and anything I can find. The more I looked, the more it looked like a mini Toll Brothers. And, TPH is an innovator and has been recognized numerous time by Architectural Digest. The Architectural digest is sort of to home snobs what the New England Journal of Medicine and the FDA is to drug stocks. They are the arbiter of the best of the best. The "sentiment" indicator notwithstanding,, $TOL got an upgrade today. $TPH benefited but unlike TOL, TPH is where yupscale housing is selling, Southwest, West, and Washington, DC
  • debeers: $TPH-4 months to the day, Gwennie, you convinced me that $TPH was a better homebuilder than the one i owned. Its only gone up 14.81% in 4 months. How do you expect me to live off this paltry return, huh? Hugs, debeers
  • debeers: @gwenzee $CYNO $TPH $MTN $EPZM $PES --well, the race is on then Gwennie because I betcha $DHI blows them away too! And, Miss high flier, pick up some$ INGR too while you are at it: its the staple that's biologically based. Its not like I am asking you to eat cereal, you know what I'm saying? $INGR has outperformed the others. & I know you love chocolate so get this one because its the binder that holds all of it together. Starches and sweets, Gwennie, don't eat 'em, own 'em. Cover your tushie!
  • debeers: $TPH- So when you see new home sales, did you ever ask yourself "Self, where the heck are these new homes that are being sold?" So, in doing the homework, the changes from the last report , here's what i found- Northeast +4.1% South 4.6% West 5.4% Midwest -6.5%-Negative! This is a perfect fit for TriPoint which is a mini Toll in Profile.. Their east coast digs are in Washington DC in the toney burbs. They have come back in the South with the resurgence of oil and they are in Country Clubs in Arizona. Looking at yupscale millennials who have been priced out of San Francisco and think a starter home is at 500,000 in Brentwood where they sold all but 2 of their homes in less than 30 days.
  • gwenzee: @DeBeers $CYNO $TPH $MTN $EPZM $PES So glad I found CYNO and TPH for us. And thank you for finding MTN. Wish I had followed you into EPZM. PES is up 11.8% today...just rubbing it in, sis.
  • debeers: $TPH/$TOL-Finally when TOL reported good numbers yesterday an d when new housing sales surged, the lights went off in the market: okay to buy the builders now. D.R. Horton and TPH made nice moves and, like Karen Carpenter sang,"we've only just be ...
  • debeers: $TPH-solid beat top and bottom lines for cents per share (18cents --high end) and revenue. Av revenue projected to be 406.22mm and high end projected to be 429.20mm. Co did 426 mm. Will get back to you for analyst reaction after the call.
  • debeers: $TPH-from the Call-1/3 congrats but the one I was looking for got it: Ivy Zelman is my go to on housing. Glad to report that Cramer is full of poop. TriPoint doesn't just have the high end housing: in the areas that have been depressed such as Housto ...
  • DAN: @debeers $TPH LOL. I think it's cooling off here because people know I'm here and they're saying, "Well, there goes the neighborhood." Leaving in droves. 8-]
  • debeers: $AMG-another day, another up $TPH continuing breakout that started yesterday $V- I like this one better than MasterCard especially after the Wells Fargo switch
  • gwenzee: $TPH Added to IBD's Top Rated Low-Priced Stocks. May be getting some respect?
  • debeers: @gwenzee $TPH --I have been after them (IBD) for a week and used as a reason their fundies, the recognition by others in their industry and, of course that they were making money. I think that it was just an oversight, Gwen, but its nice to see that they are now in a pub that will be read Sometimes you just got to give IBD a mild concussion to make a point I think now some of the other analysts will come around too.
  • gwenzee: @debeers $TPH Have to change your handle to "Squeaky Wheel."
  • gwenzee: @DeBeers $TPH Over the "Magic Number" and holding.
  • debeers: $TPH-Well, Gwennie it finally happened: the stock broke out and is up today but for me the real tell with how the market feels about it is the volume which is 43% more than the average daily at over 2.6mm shares. When you first told me about it and I researched it it was 11.25 and that wasn't that long ago but it is now 8% more than that. At the time I told you i thought it had 14 in it minimum and i still do with a growth rate of 34.39% and a p/e of 9.36 and their concentration on the millennium buyer, you gave me a real winner and i thank you for it.The breakout high was looking for was 12.06!
  • gwenzee: @DeBeers $TPH Will today be "THE" day???
  • debeers: @gwenzee $TPH --Well, Gwennie, I'll let you know if it can do 26 cents more! I hate that its so hard to add so i guess I will have to wait for 1 of three days: 1. The President is on TV and forgets to use the words "Islamist terorist" --that's always good for market crankiness 2. Janet Yellen is going to be on and Leisman is predicting dire things (that don't happen) 3. Yet one more company decides it's going abroad because its tired of paying through the nose and it gets shot down In all seriousness, I just keep a shopping list of stuff i want to add to and patiently wait it out until the above happens and the "buy more, save more" stock coupons come in the mail. Love to you and Bailey!
  • debeers: @Bridget $ELLI --housing and housing related rockin', $MHK above DAN's 190entry--now at $192.40, $HD up another 1.25%, $TPH up 2.81%. Lower oil and cheap rates= more spending so even $V is up 1.78%. Nice when oil and rates are down, huh?
  • debeers: $TPH & $MTN-added to these positions today.
  • debeers: @DrScience $TPH $KBH $LEN $AMWD -Well, Dr. Science-Since I own $HD, I buy carpet and fancy tile and shower tile under DAL which $MHK owns. I call it the virtuous circle of money. I f I wanted cabinetry, I would by $MAS which is a tad too expensive now. Please send me a message so I know when to show up for the lobster and the crab at your house.I'lkl bring a really good Cali wine. A long time ago you recommended Regeneron and I got it for $5 and $6. So I owe you a boatload of thanks! Love you, DeBeers.
  • debeers: $TPH-Good call, Gwennie! From KBH we learned 3 things on the call: 1. Young marrieds and the 25-25 set DO want housing 2. Southwest, particularly Arizona is hot (not just the climate). 3. Its going to be a long way back for KBH.. So we want someone instead with huge margins and lots of Free Cash Flow 4. This isn't to say that cities aren't first choice but the burbs are beckoning for affordability, schools, low crime areas 5. I promise you this Architectural Digest winner is doing everything right and its all US all the time.
  • debeers: $TPH-Gwennie, here's the update:TPH-The breakdown of the 9 analysts are: 5 strong buy, 3 buy and 1 hold and median price is 15.07, low price is 14 and high is 19. So, we have a 20%+ upside even to the low estimate. I wish I coulda bought it when there were only 4 analysts covering it but 9 isn't bad. when the low estimate gives you a 20 percent upside, that's really something. Gosh, its good to have really smart friends
  • gwenzee: #DeBeers $TPH Palo Alto is proposing subsidizing housing for those with salaries up to $250,000. Could be a "goose" for TPH.
  • debeers: $TPH vs $KBH & $LEN-

  • Forexpro: @debeers $TPH $KBH $LEN Thanks, DeBeers, Hope you're having an excellent day. I like the $KBH chart; it has a little work remaining to take out the previous pivot high, but it is holding up well. Ideally, it would drift back off a bit, permitting a less expensive entry, but it may not be inclined to let too many people in. The bottom panel shows that $KBH has been gaining versus $LEN for a while, now: http://schrts.co/zluSWC Take care, and all the best!
  • DrScience: @debeers $TPH $KBH $LEN If you like the homebuilding market, then how about a cabinetry supplier to the new home and remodeling markets -- $AMWD. Sitting on the 200 DMA, waiting for more of the homebuilders to report. I don't care where you buy your cabinetry because it's like having prime rib, filet mignon, cracked crab AND lobster: American Woodmark™ brand available exclusively at the Home Depot, Shenandoah Cabinetry® brand is available exclusively at Lowe’s, Timberlake® cabinets are sold directly to major homebuilders.
