  • Bridget: $VIV nice flag pattern consolidation while waiting for the 50MA to catch up. Got a nice bounce off the 50MA on Monday with volume and continues to move higher. Would like to see a bit more volume on this move but a break above $13 would be a very bullish signal.
  • Bridget: $VIV in a squeeze above the 50MA
  • debrup: Brazil stocks, here are some more Brazilian and Latin adr's and etf's that trade in the US: $ABV ARCO $BAK BCA $BFR BMA $BRAZ BRF $BRFS BSBR $BVN BZF $BZQ CBD $CIB CREST $EC ECH $ERJ EWZ $GFA GGAL $GGB GXG $GOL ILF $IRS ITUB $MELI MXF $PBR SAN $SID SQM $TAM TSU $UGP VALE $VIV YPF
  • cmac: $VIV added more to my position on this morning's weakness. I don't understand what the Fed Chair has to do with a Brazilian telecom. Nice yield too.
  • jojo1480: ABV- @boba, the only ones i am currently watching are $VIV and $SQM, i have been in them in the past, but not recently.
  • ccrown4: $ETP - Good info, Thanks Dlylis. Entered $CHK and $VIV instead.
  • Aragorn: $VIV - @ccrown4 - welcome to the forum. Please start your posts with the ticker in caps as I have. I do not trade this or even know the company but it has made a nice move and is fairly extended above the 40, 50 and even the 20 Day moving averages. The move up yesterday was rejected by the bears and closed lower than the open even after trading way up. I would wait for one of two events, a move to the 50 DMA or a move above the previous intraday high from yesterday with volume/conviction. IMHO
  • Henry: $VIV @ccrown4 That type of question doesn't get many responses, especially so on a foreign stock. It's got a nice chart. What brought it to your attention? The #dividend is listed in various places as 10 - 23%. The company website isn't that helpful in determing what it really is. @Jan2138 may nibble at this if he sees the yield, but last time we looked at a Brazilian company website, we both were confused. @Henry
  • ccrown4: $VIV Telcom in San Paulo Brazil. It caught my attention due to its steady uptrend and US crisis resistence. But volume is very low. Thanks for your help, Aragon and @Henry.
  • jojo1480: VIV- been buying this stock last 3 weeks, for the longest time this Brazilian telecom volume has been around 150Kshare/day. Since the end of May over 900 shares/day. The news is that it is signing onto the Brz govt broadband plan. Long $VIV, take a peek @the charts.
  • debrup: Latin stocks doing well: $ABV BAK $BCA BRF $CIB EC $ECH GXG $MELI SAN $SQM TAM $TSU UGP $VIV ,Happy hunting
  • ecrivain: Telecom: $WIN, VIV: look here too. $VIV is brazilian and off of 50daySMA......WIN, sloppy phase 3 if you can call it that, back up to 100daySMA> would love your thoughts!
  • jojo1480: VALE- @thomberg, sorry missed your post. The $USA is where Brazil was 10-15yrs in regard to their national debt. They took drastic measures, and swallow their pain medicine. They have a growing middle class that has growing purchasing power. The ETFs $EWZ and $EWZS are down ~5-7%, i don' t invest in them. All I know is when I look at $VALE earnings report Revenue was 14.9B beat 13B, EBITDA $8.9B was almost greater by $1B, demand and shipping for iron ore are ramping up. Same thesis holds for SQM. Their needs are growing and $GFA (housing construction) EBITDA growth YoY increased ~30%, the stock got hammered and are now starting to recover. FD- long $SQM VALE $GFA, on the radar $GOL and $VIV, looking to attend the 2016 Olympia in Rio de Janeiro (sp), obrigato (sp).
  • jojo1480: BVN- @bullmoose, looks like many of the $EEM stocks are perking up ie $VIV and $TSU, $BVN now firmly above the 50dma, I don' t know if it is going to get to the 20dma anytime soon.
  • jojo1480: -Here are a couple I am tracking $SID GFA $GGB CBD $VIV TSU, and ETFs - $EWZS EWZ. Until last week owned $EWZS and $GFA sold them all. Currently no position. edit $EWZS for brazil small cap $ETF
  • jojo1480: Brazil ETF- if your itching to invest in Brazil, here is a couple of ETFs, EWZ-Brazil Index and EWZS- small cap and relatively new. Long $EWZS and GFA. a telecom company $VIV (used to be in it) a very bullish wkl/daily chart. No position.

  • adamg: $VIV Brazil cellular company. Good entry today, bouncing off a proven support level of the 50sma.

I did not post anything yesterday, but I just wanted to share with you the ways to trade earning gaps...

  • Russ: @Bob (and all), you're right about trying to own everything -- too much to monitor. And I've learned the hard way that loading up in any one sector can be costly when the sector sags, esp in commodities. Nevertheless here are a few more charts we haven't mentioned much here that seem to have potential: MATK, a biotech (always dicey) $VIV, a Brazilian wireless with a positive aricle in Barrons $CTRP, the China travel agency $HRC, medical services (not a hot sector right now) $OZM, management in real estate, invesments, and hedge funds $WRI, a REIT $TX, mid-cap specialty steel $NOC, new support for two weeks at the 50dma's $TEX, moving through the 50dma's on okay vol $TTWO, game software, new support above the 50 dma's for two weeks
  • Russ: ...
List 3: Prominent on my hit list I'm developing for next week: $GILD, $RIO, $IBM, $OII, $NE, $STLD, $NVO, $EWZ, $VIV, $SYMC, ISIL. I wonder what in tarnation tech is doing -- realizing nobody came to the recovery ball?

  • brianc400: Brazil In the last couple of weeks the Brazilian market popped when S&P increased the market's investment rating. This opens the door for a lot more funds to invest there, as many have rules that limit where their money can go. I am finding a lot of interesting setups: UBB ITU (banks), $GFA (construction), $UGP (retail), $VIV (telecom), $SBS CPL (utilities). I already own some $EWZ so I don't want to get carried away but I especially like the setups in UBB and VIV. @Brian
