  • bill52: $WULF Does anyone have any insight on why the short interest is so high on $WULF? Finviz has it showing 41.74% short as of 9/15/2025. Given the recent positive developments of their business and the financials look really solid in MarketSurge, its curious why this is so high. I also looked at $IREN which is a similar business model along with other miners such as $RIOT $MARA $HUT, etc.... and none of them are nearly as high. Unless their is really something funky about their business, it seems like this could be a set up for a huge short squeeze. Any intel would be appreciated.

What is your definition of being LONG in a position or held for a while approximately? Could not ask the question as I often listen to the sessions in the evening. Thank you.

Unless there is a data center or an electrical power kicker, mining is a tough business. These stocks won't be in your estate.

  • joelsg1: @Auto $WULF I bought when I learned Stanley Druckenmiller was in, it did nothing and then I was looking to sell when I learned he was out, held on for awhile and then took a small profit, sold a few days early in this crazy mkt. Definitely a theme, the old Btc miners converting to data centers, but I'm in $IREN which has the best of both worlds, self-funds, renewable power, mostly hydro, and at least a customer relationship with $NVDA.

  • bill52: $WULF possible short squeeze setting up. 31% short according to Finviz as of Jul 24. Nice move this morning on volume. This thing makes pretty dramatic moves so the move today so far could be a fake out, but only time will tell. I'm watching to see how it closes before adding anymore for a further move. Fundamentally this company looks pretty strong so its curious why the short interest. If anyone knows, please do comment.

I've been jumping in and out of them but the last number of days have been more productive on the chart so I'm starting to scale back in slowly on any pullbacks. These make some pretty big price swings so if you can catch them on pullbacks whether intraday or just an off day might be your best bet. I'm also tracking $WULF $IREN $MARA $HUT

Been having the best outcomes with $MSTX and $RIOT but all have some nice intraday moves if can catch right or overnight swings if they were particularly beaten down on a given day. Not always easy as they move fast.

  • bill52: $IREN $WULF a couple BTC miners who also manage power for data centers, making another solid up move on good volume. While $MSTR is consolidating, these are making some nice continued moves. Fundamentally, these are quite solid as well especially for revenue growth. If the BTC trade continues, these could likely be more under the radar winners.
  • bill52: @djgustoso $MSTR $MSTX $IBIT I look at www.finviz.com. If you pull up a chart, there is a grid of info below it including "Short Float" percentage. MSTR showing about 14 percent. some of the other miners have even a bit higher like $MARA (19 percent) and $WULF (21 percent). If these are fairly accurate, then could add some extra jet fuel on the fire if BTC holds over the century mark and additional folks start feeling fomo. I'm not exactly sure how up to date these numbers are in Finviz, so if someone has a more reliable short interest website, please advise.
  • phgruver: @bill52 $MSTR $MSTX $IBIT $MARA $WULF You need to compare the short % with the days to cover. It is the "days to cover " that tells you how explosive the short squeeze could be. In a highly liquid stock, a high short % doesn't mean as much.

I'm guessing if the short ratio is under 1 than maybe not that big a deal but perhaps if its 2 or 3 or more than more explosive?

I was curious if there was much short interest on these and some have a decent amount which might give these names some extra juice with this BTC run.
