  • Tricia: $JPM Dimon out as chairman of JPMorgan's main bank unit. @Jamie stepped down as chairman of the unit which runs JPMorgan's (JPM) deposit and consumer banking operations on July 1, according to a source. Taking the post in his place was bank board member William Weldon. (Of course, the woos from $JNJ is the perfect replacement??? ) Dimon remains Chairman and CEO of the parent company. Bank sources say Dimon gave up the title because attorneys recommended it for "technical reasons," and not due to pressure from regulators and investors. The bank unit, however, had its "management effectiveness" rating downgraded in summer 2012 by the $OCC, which cited "lax governance and oversight in the chief investment office." Management effectiveness is one of six components in the so-called Camels rating - a confidential measure used by the $OCC to gauge banks' safety and soundness.

In particular, Put/call ratios, option volume and open interest. The difficulty I am having is finding a way to analyze and interpret the data over time. All I can find are published daily ratios/numbers or spread sheets of this data which makes it difficult to analyze the data relative to historical values/ratios over a specific time period. I cannot find any graphs or charts that incorporate this data. Are you aware of any sources/sites/trading platforms that accesses and analyzes #options data? Or is analyzing #options data in this fashion not a useful exercise? I have called the $CBOE, Fidelity and $OCC to no avail. Thank you for your time with this. Colin

  • evanesce: Just back briefly. My plan, from yesterday, was to pick up a very few calls on QQQQ if they were weak in the afternoon but didn't crash-dive into the close. I picked up some Dec $45's. I intend to unload them on any strength tomorrow or Monday - this is strictly a trade on price oscillation going into expiry day, based on the closing action in the tech index. I very rarely trade near the open or close, so I also learned that OptionsXpress trades #options until 4:15PM ET. I don't know if it is just this broker or if the $OCC has changed; I certainly don't see bids/asks at the open.
  • evanesce: Yes, this is typical - MM's widen the spreads at the open to hedge against the gap. The $OCC should then handle market and limit orders to find [low volume] matches. Edit: $OCC is the #Options Clearing Corporation
