  • gtr89: @bRobert $JJC $FCX #2 copper is one of my favorite investment ideas right now. I’ve traded around a core in $FCX and $TGB for years. I’m not crazy about TGB’s chart right now, but in the next year or so they will be bringing a new mine into production in AZ that will be one of the greenest lowest cost mines in the world. One would think that the mine being located in the US would lessen political risk but I’m not so sure these days lol

One thing I like about them is that all their operations are in North America, so less political risk. At least until recently.

IBD ratings $TECK pe of only 8 and IBD ratings 94 cumulative, B+ accumulative. But TECK looks like it's at resistance. It was at this high level in April. $FCX 87B $FCX and $CHGG look identical on the charts. Coincidence? Perhaps!

This article below is from 2 days ago but it explains it pre news of tightening, it was anticipated already. I have been long $TGB for a while now and I held it even after the news on the Harmony mine application refusal. It has come back 30% since that news and I am close to even. I will take that, but this is just a blip. The demand will not abate for the red metal. China is not slowing down and neither are the emerging markets that need this for their infrastructure.   • aragorn555: $TGB - an upgrade to 5.50 cdn is probbaly putting in a bid. It does not hurt that copper has been strong of late. I am thinking of adding even though I am underwater. I like the company and I first learned about it in the mid to upper one dollar range. Yes I have a position form the news and felt it was not worth selling and since I had plenty of cash, I did nto need it to put to work so it has come back a lot from the lows so it looks good to me. It does not hurt it is in a VS and ready to go, it is at 4.82 and the upper BB is 4.82. Good luck

  • gotdementia: SLW- You made my evening. That almost makes up for the 50 contracts I had and sold on the $SLW $30 leap call due in Jan of 2012. I got scared, yes scared at 61. I was up 320% a month ago, the darned things were "leaping" around, up and down. I didn't know how to guage whether or not a year and two months was getting too short when a call option would start downhill because of time value. So I sold. Sure wish I had them now. But I'm long SLW. I also have a long position in $EGO, and NG. $TGB killed me. It would be nice if a good chart person would look at Newcrest Mining, an Australian company with an ADR.

  • bethany: $TGB - Noticing it is poking its head out after falling because of the bad news concerning the Prosperity Mine Project last week. Earnings are tomorrow. I know they have alot more in the fire. Anyone in before earnings or any insight concerning this. This stock is very volatile...but could work on the upside.
  • eleKtra: $TGB I had been in and out of this one all year, but fortunately was out when the big drop happened. Got back in today, but didn't realize earnings were tomorrow. Hmmm. now wondering if I should hold or not. With it being up 3% today, people are expecting good news and maybe think the selloff was a bit extreme? It will have plenty of resistance as it climbs back up again, but might be a nice trade. Of course the trouble with earnings is that anything can happen. Look @ $GSS today. Got stopped out w/ a profit and will look to buy back around 5.

  • eleKtra: PCX Same here. I kept a small position that is still up 9%. Also kept other positions that are still up, but raised plenty of cash today. So many of my mining stocks were stopped out, but kept small core positions in almost all. I have learned so much about trading around a core and not selling everything (or buying) all at once. This works so much better in trading. GBG held up today in the gold space. So did TGB. Worth keeping an eye on these, with the selloff in PM's and miners, that these were fine is a clue that people were not selling these little guys. Long $TGB and GBG but keeping it small. Live to trade another day..
  • pilotski: $TGB - this is a copper mining stock - doesn't seem to be following the trend. I think this was featured one night several weeks(?) ago on the evening strategy session. Anybody following this one. I own a position and it is down at a price where I have to decide to dump it or buy more. Any advice will be much appreciated.

  • eleKtra: $TGB Line in the sand would be 4.31 if you are willing to risk that much. Quite a lot of red volume today..but notice it plunged just to the support point form Aug and Sept. It will have some work to do now, but be alright for a trade to 5.20 or so. My other miners are long term holds for me, but this one I would have just for a trade.

  • aragorn555: $TGB - @Ronda - look at $FCX and JJC and $SCCO they are all down because of Dollar as well as all metals. I have a pretty full position or I might be tempted to add. If this is a longer term play I think you can add here. Copper and all metals will move up as the dollar weakens and the dollar will weaken. Small producer so more sensitive to the px swings. It has run a lot lately. just my .02.

  • easyboy: SCCO- @fstern601!! Amen!! Fundamentally, the company is the strongest in the group and steady. Net profit margin of 26 compared with 17 of $FCX and 64 price to free cash flow mrg. (company's future value in the same sector) compared with 44.203 for FCX. No wonder it has higher PE. As the industry group is getting all the love at the moment, I might add $TGB (small swinging position) on Monday as booster rocket. For short term trading, crowd favorite $FCX, has better price action.

  • aragorn555: $TGB - I am happy as well. I questioned the board yesterday with no response on thoughts about copper. If anyone knows the fundies etc of the metal I would be interested on your take. In addition I believe that there is talk about a copper etf like $GLD which I assume they will have to warehouse the physical and if that is the case there will be a tremendous increase in the demand for the physical metal on stocks that I beleive are low to begin with in the LME. Anyone with thoughts/knowledge please chime in.
